Currently, the Black Sea benthic diatom flora includes 1100 species and intraspecific taxa, among which almost 50% are singleton species. Assumed the Black Sea flora consists from relict of the Ponto-Caspian and Karangat flora, native species, freshwater species, introducers from the Mediterranean basin, and a group of aliens acclimating to another environmental condition. 8 new genera and over 280 newly found for the Black Sea diatom flora species were noted. Also species not recorded in the World Ocean during the XX century were discovered. Groups of 33 and 11 significant for preservation species were highlighted which the ranks of high and highest taxonomic exclusivity were assigned, respectively. Species formed a mono-species branch on a hierarchical tree, i.e. belonging to the same genus, family or order, has the highest preservation priority compared to a species included in a poly-species branch and phylogenetically close to many others. Disappearance of species with high taxonomic exclusivity leads to significant changes in the structure of diatom hierarchical tree. Maintenance of intact habitat conditions for species with a high taxonomic exclusivity should be primary measure to preserve the high diversity of the Black Sea’ flora Bacillariophyta.","PeriodicalId":305989,"journal":{"name":"Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117110964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specificity of algal-cyanobacterial communities in soils under different types of forest, in clearings of different ages and on arable land was revealed. In a field experiment, the effect of hydrocarbon fuel contamination (gasoline, kerosene, and diesel fuel) on the algal-cyanobacterial communities of sod-podzolic soils was studied. It is shown that with the same primary load of pollutants, their toxicity to algae and cyanobacteria and the rate of recovery of algal-cyanobacterial communities depends on the type of land use of the territory, and with the same type of land use – on the water regime of soils. In the same soil, the specific of the pollutant also affects the recovery of algal-cyanobacterial communities. Data on the composition of algae and cyanobacteria successfully complement information about the biological activity of soils obtained by other methods.","PeriodicalId":305989,"journal":{"name":"Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117100018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the studied 24-hours period the main components of plankton were coccoid green and diatom algae, colonial and filamentous cyanobacteria, whose daily vertical migration was poorly expressed. The maximum of abundance and biomass of these species were noted at the afternoon (the period from 13:30 to 16:30) and in the most heated layer (0–4 m). Motile algae (mainly from phylum Dinophyta) were characterized with more noticeable daily activity. They were present in the algocenoses only in the daytime and evening hours and moved at night and in the morning below the photosynthetic zone. The daily dynamics of the species richness of algae demonstrated was similar with the indicators of quantitative development, while the number of dominant species remained stable during the day (amounting to 1–4 taxa in the sample).","PeriodicalId":305989,"journal":{"name":"Issues of modern algology (Вопросы современной альгологии)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117293788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
