This new quality index is better suited to assess medical images; therefore it explicitly focuses on the image structure. We show that this new index outperforms other methods for the assessment of image quality in medical images. In this paper, one dimensional interval wavelet have been applied to analyse the effect of various objective quality factors like Mean Square Error (MSE), Peak Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (PSNR), Maximum Difference (MD), Normalised Correlation (NK), Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and the Structural content (SC). The results of experimental quality investigations were fall under acceptable quality boundaries and are presented. Also the result of the proposed method has been compared with the existing fractal image compression method.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121469174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed multirate technique for 3-level CSVPWM DTC based IM drive gives lower torque ripple as compared to single rate sampling technique. In multirate sampling technique, for the same digital signal processor, two sampling periods are used. The fundamental sampling period is used for data capturing and estimation of speed, torque and flux parameters. The other sampling period which is an integer multiple of the fundamental sampling period, is used for speed, flux and torque error processing and also for the implementation of CSVPWM algorithm for synthesizing gate pulses. The 3-level inverter gives the smaller voltage steps lead to the production of higher power quality waveforms. The simulation results are experimentally validated.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116417892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The simulation and hardware results indicate that both in charging mode as well as in discharging mode SiC has a better performance compared to that with Si diode. Hardware results show that settling time and peak overshoot reduced to a great extent when SiC (CSD04060) is used in place of Si (MUR860) diode. There is a little improvement in form factor of the output voltage. This is because of very low or negligible value of reverse recovery current flowing through SiC diode. Due to the reduction in the switching losses in case of SiC (CSD04060) diode as compared to Si (MUR860) diode, the overall efficiency of buck converter is increased by about 5 percent.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116540972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the diode rectifier is used as load which distorts the supply current. This supply current harmonics are reduced by the Shunt active filter (SAF) which injects the harmonic current to the load. So supply is free from harmonics. The synchronous reference frame theory is used to extract the fundamental component of the supply current which is the reference current for the hysteresis controller. The hysteresis controller tunes the SAF so that it generates the current equal in magnitude and opposite in phase with the nonlinear load. So the total harmonic distortion (THD) of supply current is greatly reduced. In this paper the SAF dc bus voltage is maintained constant using PI / PID controller and time domain specification of the bus voltage is analyzed using Matlab simulink and the results are presented.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"154 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125765773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a new power line conditioner called Universal Power Line Manager for micro grid. The power circuit of a general universal power line manager (UPLM) is based on the combination of UPQC, UPFC and frequency changer (matrix converter). This equipment incorporates compensation functions like voltage sag, voltage swell, reactive power compensation, current harmonic rejection, real power flow control, damping the system and also provides frequency regulation. For this integration, the compensator proposed in this paper will be called as the Universal Power Line Manager (UPLM). Simulation results are presented to confirm that the new approach has better performance over the existing power quality conditioners in micro grid.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122322189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When blood vessels are blocked, narrowed, damaged or abnormal in any way, problems, including stroke, may occur. Angiography helps to determine the source of the problem and the extent of damage of the blood vessel segments that are being examined. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is a new computer assisted-process which enables visualization of cerebral and coronary arterial structures after intravenous injection of contrast material. Cerebral and arterial mask images and phase images are generated to carry out the DSA process thereby to have an optimal angiography images. Thus, the exact image cannot be obtained using only the phase images and hence the comparison of mask image with the phase image produces the Digitized and subtracted angiographic image (DSA) which helps to visualize the blood vessels clearly and to determine the abnormalities in the brain and the coronary arteries. Our method uses Lab VIEW software to perform the DSA image. From the DSA image of the brain and the Coronary arteries, the presence of tumor and the blocks in the blood vessels are identified.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133082129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The compensation is based on the separation of fundamental component from the harmonic current drawn by the load. This separation is done using Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) based control method. The DC voltage of the capacitor is controlled using PI controller. The performance of Active Power Line Conditioner (APLC) is compared with two methods: i) Hysteresis current control method and ii) Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) method. The performance is analyzed for both steady state and dynamic state conditions.
