Even when a wireless channel with high channel capacity is given, we still need to find good techniques to achieve high-speed data transmission or high reliability. In this work deterministic and random channel models are implemented with channel state information (CSI) and without having CSI at the transmitter side. The performance of channel capacity for MIMO system is evaluated and compared with single input many output system (SIMO) as well as Many input single output system (MISO).","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124035220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In spite of being cheap, clean and abundant the continuous fluctuations in the renewable energy causes significant power quality issues. This paper presents a technical review of power quality problems associated with grid connected wind power plant and describes the Dynamic Voltage Restorer that injects voltage into the system with a view to enhance the network power factor while stabilizing the voltage and reducing the network losses. On the basis of measurements and norms followed according to the guidelines specified in IEC-61400 (International Electro-technical Commission) standard, the performance of the wind turbine and thereby power quality should be determined. Wind turbines, especially of Induction type, can draw large amount of reactive power from the grid. Insufficient supply of reactive power from the grid to the wind generators may cause voltage stability problems. To minimize reactive power exchange between wind generators and grid, dynamic compensation of reactive power can be employed by using DVR. This paper also describes the analysis of Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) using MATLAB/SIMULINK for the grid connected Wind Power Plant.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"110 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124436378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The rotor resistance changes significantly during operation due to temperature rise. This variation has a major influence on the field oriented control performance of an induction motor drive due to the deviation of slip frequency from the set value. The MRAS approach using reactive power as a functional candidate for rotor resistance estimation makes it computationally simpler, easy to design. Rotor resistance estimation using reactive power completely eliminates the need of flux estimation. Thus, this method is less sensitive to integrator — related problems. The performance of vector controlled induction motor drive with the MRAS based rotor resistance estimator is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The promising results obtained are presented.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122644336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Published works on attitude tracking always focus on optimizing the time and fuel cost, neglecting the smoothness requirement and angular speed limitations. In this paper, a nonlinear control algorithm is prompted for smooth transition in large-angle attitude maneuver. A nonlinear filter is added to the attitude feedback control loop, to carry out angular speed control in large-angle maneuvers. This paper proposes a critical evaluation of MPPT algorithm of PV model using EP. The proposed model is then compared with the conventional Newton raphson algorithm. The simulation results obtained from the EP were found to be more accurate with the real maximum power point. The algorithm has better accuracy especially at low irradiance level that allows for a more accurate prediction of PV system performance. The EP based MPPT algorithm was tested with single stage boost inverter.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125726475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The controller dsPIC30F4011 is used. The four quadrant operation which was simulated using MATLAB / Simulink is implemented and analyzed [1]. A smooth transition between the quadrants is achieved. The time taken to change the direction of rotation of BLDC motor is also comparatively reduced. The frequent change of direction of rotation and hence the change of quadrants results in frequent braking. During braking time the kinetic energy is wasted as heat energy. This paper presents a concept wherein the kinetic energy is converted and stored in a battery. The battery thus charged can be used to run the same BLDC motor with no interruption in power supply.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"87 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125974026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Space Vector PWM (SVPWM) is a sophisticated technique for generating a sine wave that provides a higher source voltage utilization and lower total harmonic distortion. Also, it is inherently suitable for digital implementation of vector control (Field Oriented Control) of AC motors. FPGAs due to their parallel processing capability, high sampling frequency and flexibility, are preferred for implementing various PWM techniques for controlling motor speed. Also, the transient response of the system is improved. In our work, we have combined these two technologies to produce a highly efficient speed control system for three phase IM. The switching pulses to six IGBTs were generated using the FPGA, and depending upon the switching sequence the inverter output voltage, was controlled. The results for hardware implementation of SPWM and SVPWM techniques are given and the two techniques are compared.","PeriodicalId":305797,"journal":{"name":"2011 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RECENT ADVANCEMENTS IN ELECTRICAL, ELECTRONICS AND CONTROL ENGINEERING","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134197844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
