The work is focused on finding the most efficient excitation angles and characterizing them for easy implementation under closed loop control. Through modelling of an experimental SRG and extensive simulation, it can be seen that the optimal-efficiency turn-off angles can be characterized as a function of power and speed level. Within the closed-loop power controller, the optimal efficiency turn-off angle is determined from an analytic curve fit using FEA. Kamaraj","doi":"10.1109/ICONRAEECE.2011.6129761","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICONRAEECE.2011.6129761","url":null,"abstract":"This paper presents an approach for online evaluation of loadability limit of Pool Model with Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) for various load patterns using Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) with optimal feature set. Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm is employed to find out optimal location and control of TCSC. This approach uses AC load flow equations with constraints on real and reactive power generations, transmission line flows, magnitude of bus voltages and TCSC settings. The input parameters are real and reactive power loads at all buses. The BPNN is trained through off-line simulation using DE algorithm and tested with new load patterns. The optimal feature set for training BPNN is obtained by a wrapper model of feature selection called Sequential Forward Selection (SFS). Simulations are performed on 39 bus New England test system. The performance of the proposed model is compared with unified BPNN trained with full feature set. The unknown capacitance is measured by measuring the voltage across capacitor in RC network. The Digital Synthesis Arbitrary Function Generator/Counter (Protek 9305), and Dual Display Multimeter (Escort 3146A) are used as part of instrumentation. The function generator and digital multimeter instruments are available in all the labs, by integrating these devices a powerful yet cost effective instrumentation can be evolved. This paper describes such an instrument for capacitance measurement. MATLAB program interfaces the instruments through serial port and collects data, the applied and measured voltage at particular frequency, the results are analyzed to get corresponding Capacitance of the any capacitor under test. With the normal pulse width modulation the converter is operated periodically and the EMI is measured. Using Random modulation the converter is forced to work chaotically and hence the EMI is measured. A comparative investigation on the use of Random modulation against the normal pulse width modulation is performed. FFT analysis is used for the comparison and it is found that the use of random modulation reduces EMI effectively. Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) based on constant speed squirrel cage induction generator is a popular system in India. Small signal stability analysis is very much essential to study the oscillations which normally exist in a power system and leads to unstable operation when small disturbances are applied. Basically, synchronous machine rotor is prone to weakly damped (low frequency) oscillations. But damper winding provides less damping for low frequency oscillations with small amplitude. It justifies the need for Power System Stabilizer (PSS) as a damper for oscillations. So, this work is intended to find the effect of wind energy conversion system on small signal stability conditions of conventional power system with synchronous generators with PSS. It is based on the oscillometric method. A microcontroller MCF51QE128 is used in the present study. Further, an LCD module to display the data of systolic and diastolic blood pressure and MR2A16A asynchronous magneto resistive RAM to store measured values of systolic diastolic pressure values are interfaced with the microcontroller, which reduces the hardware complexity. Software is developed in C language using IAR embedded work bench IDE for cold fire due to the inherent language flexibility, the extent of support and its potential for portability across a wide range of hardware. The instrument is tested and results are found to be satisfactory. Nowadays due to increased environmental awareness, generating utilities should optimize their emission in addition to the fuel cost. Recently researchers are developing different soft computing techniques to solve the combined economic and emission dispatch (CEED) problem. In this paper, Hybrid differential evolution Algorithm (HDEA) is developed to solve CEED problem considering security constraints as the traditional Differential evolution (DE) is suffers from local optima or stagnation problem. To evaluate the accuracy, convergence speed and applicability of the proposed method, it is implemented on the standard IEEE-30 bus system having six generating units to solve CEED problem and the results of CEED problem are compared with traditional PSO and DE. The method presented shows a Multiple Carrier Phase Opposition Disposition PWM topology to control the cascaded multilevel inverter that is implemented with multiple DC sources, which can also be obtained using a single DC source and transformers to get 2n+1 levels. The hardware implementation has been carried out using operational amplifiers on a scaled down prototype to prove the effectiveness of the proposed topology. This task is normally done by using a vocal tract model, based on the calculation of the function, area would be performed. We will show that these models have good performance in experiments. A mathematical model of voice box has been obtained. We suggest a new numerical method without saturation, which allows solving the problem in a wide range of frequencies with an arbitrary and controlled precision.
