Rekha","doi":"10.1109/ICONRAEECE.2011.6129756","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICONRAEECE.2011.6129756","url":null,"abstract":"This paper, presents three phase shunt active filter under distorted voltage condition, the active power filter control is based on the use of self tuning filter (STF) for reference current generation and on a modulated hysteresis current controller for generation of pulses, classical extraction technique such as instantaneous p-q theory for reference current generation and with delta modulation for generation of pulses. The dc capacitor voltage is controlled by fuzzy logic controller. The diode rectifier feed RL load is taken as a nonlinear load. Comparisons made between the use of Self Tuning Filter based extraction technique of the 3 level inverter with that of classical extraction technique with Delta Modulation. The self tuning filter allows extracting directly the voltage and current fundamental components in the axis without phase locked loop (PLL) under distorted voltage condition. The comparative analysis is made based on working under distorted voltage condition, and the total harmonic distortion of source current after compensation. Self tuning filter based extraction technique is good under distorted voltage conditions. The total harmonic distortion (THD) of source current is fully reduced and inverter switching is 3–4 times fast in delta modulation based active filter, but it produces poor result under distorted voltage condition. The proposed nine level multilevel inverter configurations utilize a single dc source i.e., photo voltaic panel, whereas in the conventional multilevel inverter it varies based on the number of levels. The single phase transformer is replaced by the three phase linear transformer to reduce the transformer number. In this paper investigates the self tuning control scheme for SMES is proposed and applied to Automatic Generation Control (AGC) in power system. The system is assumed to be consisting of two areas. The proposed self-tuning control scheme is used to implement the automatic generation control for load frequency control application adding to conventional control configuration. The effects of the self tuning configuration with Fuzzy Proportional Integral Controller (FPIC) in AGC on SMES control for the improvement of Load Frequency Control (LFC) is compared with that of PI controlled AGC. The effectiveness of the SMES control technique is investigated when Area Control Error (ACE) is used as the control input to SMES. Harmonics play significant roll in deteriorating power quality, called harmonic distortion. Harmonic distortion in electric distribution system is increasingly growing due to the widespread use of nonlinear loads. Large considerations of these loads have the potential to raise harmonic voltage and currents in an electrical distribution system to unacceptable high levels that can adversely affect the system. IEEE standards have defined limits for harmonic voltages and harmonic currents. Active power filters have been considered a potential candidate to bring these harmonic distortions within the IEEE limits. This paper deals with an active power filter (APF) based on simple control. A voltage source inverter with pulse width modulation (PWM) is employed to form the APF. A diode rectifier feeding capacitive-resistive load is considered as nonlinear load on ac mains for the elimination of harmonics by the proposed APF. One recent promising renewable energy power source is the Piezo-electric Generator (PZG) that extracts energy from mechanical vibrations. Due to low power and wide-range ac output voltage, the Piezo-electric Generator cannot directly support the ac or dc electrical appliances. Hence in most applications, the ac signal produced by this generator needs to be rectified. This paper focuses on the selection of higher efficiency rectifier for increasing the available output power of Piezo-electric Generators that have a high output capacitance. This proposed analysis deals with comparing the efficiency of Diode bridge rectifier, SEPIC rectifier and Resonant rectifier by conducting the simulation studies using PSIM software package. The aim of the work is to reduce the cost and size of a brushless dc motor (BLDC) drives as well as increase the reliability and ruggedness of that drive. Traditional BLDC drives use Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) that utilize hard switching, thereby generating switching losses and entail the use of large heat sinks. VSI needs a huge dc link capacitor that is inherently unreliable and is one the most expensive components of drive. Hence, a Current Source Inverter (CSI) is used to replace the hard switching by soft switching, thereby eliminating the heat sinks as well as the large dc link capacitor. A controlled rectifier together with a large inductor act as the current source, the only disadvantage is the large value of the dc link inductor and the huge number of turns needed to achieve these values of the inductances lead to huge resistive losses. Therefore, it is shown that it is possible to replace the controller rectifier and the large inductor with a suitable Buck converter based current source inverter switching at high frequencies and much smaller value of the dc link inductor without increasing the current ripples. Hence, it is possible to have the advantage of using a CSI as well as reduce the value of the dc link inductor without a corresponding increase in the heat sink. We studied about increase in throughput and optimal relay selection. Here we deployed a base station connected to host-sever, group of relay stations and group of mobile stations that are moving at constant speed. The mobile stations and base stations are deployed based on our new adaptive deployment algorithm (ADA) and relay selection through our new optimal relay selection algorithm (ORSA). The tuning of the parameters of the PSS are considered as optimization problem, and the parameters are tuned using genetic search algorithm. Here forth-order linear and non-linear model of the synchronous machine (model 1.1) which includes both the generator main field winding and the damper winding in q-axis is considered for finding out the sensitivity of electromechanical modes of single machine infinite bus system. The effectiveness of automatic voltage controller, and PID-power system stabilizer are identified through eigen value analysis and participation factor method.
