From the visual exercises with educational and practical value to the visual poems that appeared in poetry contests, these poetic practices reorganize the categories of masculine/feminine readership and authorship as well as the circulation of poetry. Through a contextualized analysis of the uses of visual poetry, this article shows some of the ways in which colonial writers conquered and generated new forms of \"authorized word\" in the colonies and how these disputes would create a much more diverse and complex reality for the lettered world.resumen:En este trabajo me propongo revisar las intervenciones de la poesía visual en la configuración de lo letrado en la colonia. Desde los ejercicios visuales con valor educativo y práctico hasta los poemas visuales de los certámenes, este tipo de producción poética llevará consigo una reordenación de categorías como las de escritor/escritora lector/lectora así como de la propia circulación de lo poético. A través de un análisis contextualizado de los usos y contextos de la poesía visual, pretendo mostrar algunas de las maneras con las que se intentó conquistar o generar nuevas formas de palabra autorizada en la colonia y cómo estas disputas o ejercicios escriturales devendrían en una realidad mucho más diversificada y compleja para lo letrado.","PeriodicalId":29842,"journal":{"name":"Caliope-Journal of the Society for Renaissance and Baroque Hispanic Poetry","volume":"218 1","pages":"203 - 230"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75620580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The comparative analysis of the prayer in three different chronicles allows readers to observe the historical and political proposal of Santa Cruz Pachacuti about the Andean past, where Manco Cápac is depicted as a wise king and poet. The chronicler attributes the prayer's authorship to Manco Cápac, a fact that would reinforce the inca king's monotheistic devotion, which stands very close to Christianity.resumen:En el presente artículo analizo el papel del famoso \"Himno de la creación\" que inserta el cronista Joan de Santa Cruz Pachacuti en su particular versión de la historia de los incas. Hago un seguimiento de la oración en al menos tres crónicas distintas y analizo los modelos literarios, tradiciones culturales, tópicos, y recursos estéticos que se encuentran en la Relación de las antigüedades. A partir de esas ideas, reviso la propuesta histórica y política de Santa Cruz Pachacuti respecto del pasado andino y su cristalización en el ámbito literario, que consiste básicamente en la propuesta de Manco Cápac como rey sabio y poeta, a quien se le atribuye la autoría del \"Himno de la creación,\" hecho que reforzaría documentalmente su supuesta devoción monoteísta y cercana al cristianismo.","PeriodicalId":29842,"journal":{"name":"Caliope-Journal of the Society for Renaissance and Baroque Hispanic Poetry","volume":"9 1","pages":"177 - 202"},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84370688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The epigraph explains how don Luis traveled to Cuenca where he was offered two ugly criadas. The sight prompts the poet to first animalize and racialize the women by describing them as monkeys and to then invite the men of Cuenca to sexually assault them. Finally, the poet introduces a parrot as surrogate in order to perpetuate the male gaze and its resulting attempt to dominate and control.resumen:Este artículo examina el soneto gongorino \"¿Son de Tolú… ?\" desde el punto de vista de la mirada masculina para revelar la reacción agresiva, y hasta violenta, que resulta de la mirada masculina frustrada. El epígrafe explica que don Luis fue a Cuenca, donde salieron a entretenerle dos criadas feas. La fealdad incita al poeta a animalizar y racializarlas además de invitar a los conquenses al abuso sexual contra ellas. The poem faces a depiction by the Andean artist, don Felipe Guaman Poma de Ayala (c. 1560s-c. 1616), of a woman sitting in the middle of a four-cornered, enchanted Inca fountain. Murua reimagined Guaman Poma's image in a form reminiscent of the Latin Rotas-Sator Square.
