The use of remote work and the transformation of traditional teams into virtual teams are more present than before. The management of virtual teams in healthcare organizations has certain particularities compared to those in traditional teams, being influenced by the conditions of the environment in which the activity is carried out, the VUCA type environment, but also by the characteristics of the team and the type of managers. The analysis of differences allows us to adapt the management style according to the challenges and obstacles we encounter in these organizations, but also to identify success factors that lead to team performance and the motivation of its members. The theoretical concepts support our research through the interview method and the obtained data, in turn, support the theoretical concepts. The conclusions obtained are beneficial and useful to virtual team managers in healthcare organizations and confirm that there are peculiarities of virtual team management in these types of organizations.","PeriodicalId":296892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Management Conference","volume":"81 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140983130","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, coaching is growing in popularity yet there is a lack of literature on the perception and use of this instrument by managers in general. Secondly, there is a need to see if coaching is perceived as an instrument for the project managers to use complementary to the traditional functions of project administration in order to acquire other competencies that modern project management requires. The research is based on the study of recent publications and a questionnaire to see how coaching in perceived and use in Romania. We intended to study if there were any confusions regarding the coaching concept and how it is perceived and the way it is used by the project managers. The research revealed that coaching is more and more used in Romania and it is indeed perceived and used as an powerful instrument for managing teams to achieve their goals.","PeriodicalId":296892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Management Conference","volume":"88 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140984598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Companies increasingly promote an organizational culture centered on freedom and minimal constraints, yet this abstract evaluates the authenticity of these assertions amid the technologically evolving workplace. The Introduction emphasizes the dichotomy between the perceived freedoms facilitated by technology and the potential constraints it imposes on employee communication. The impact of technology on communication within companies in Romania is a focal point of investigation. While technological advancements offer expanded access to information, real-time collaboration across global teams, and flexible work arrangements, the Conclusion underscores the risks associated with excessive surveillance and communication restrictions. It highlights the adverse effects of closely monitored communication, leading to reduced privacy, employee anxiety, and compromised performance. The abstract delves into the delicate balance between technological integration and employee freedom. It addresses the need for companies to critically reflect on their communication policies to prevent the erosion of trust and loyalty among employees. Notably, it identifies the pivotal role of individuals in fostering or limiting communication, stressing the significance of an open and supportive communication environment. This study, involving 76 companies across multiple counties, examines the interplay between technological advancements and organizational communication. This study delves into the intricate relationship between Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors and stock market performance during this period. Investors are increasingly applying these non-financial factors as part of their analysis process to identify material risks and growth opportunities. Using a meticulous analysis of the companies listed on the S&P 500 index, we examine the influence of ESG factors on stock market returns, particularly focusing on the year 2020. The observed correlation between stock market returns and S&P 500-related ESG performance illuminates a fundamental shift in market dynamics. The statistical significance of the environmental pillar in the S&P500 during the pandemic signifies a paradigm shift in market priorities. It emphasizes the integral role of environmental sustainability in shaping investor decisions, corporate strategies, regulatory frameworks, and the overall trajectory of the financial markets. As society evolves, each university and college adapt and aligns to their environment, taking into consideration the pedagogical new approaches, technological advancements, and societal shifting demands. Just as in other organizations, the culture of each university is formed by the beliefs, values, and attitudes of their employees, causing a shift in the environment-based morals and actions taken by these employees. This article begins by examining the importance of values and factors that can lead to different outcomes and values promoted and presented by universities and colleges based on the environment they are part of. The list of best universities was obtained after combining the ranks from three different sites that provide a detailed look and enable the identification of the best universities. The values assumed and promoted by the best universities in Europe and Romania were identified on websites (if the site had a section entitled “Mission, Vision and Values”) or documents, also available on sites (such as Strategic Plans and University Charter). The article aims to identify, compare, and analyze the values promoted and upheld by European best universities along with Romanian best universities, and lastly to use Artificial Intelligence that has become more present and used in current times to find out the answer to the question “What are the higher education values?”.","PeriodicalId":296892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Management Conference","volume":"86 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140984723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Factors such as technological advancements, medical breakthroughs, and improved living conditions have fueled this surge. With heightened life expectancies and rapid population increments, efficient resource management is essential. Our ecosystems, which evolved over billions of years, have been significantly impacted by the mere 200 generations of modern civilization, particularly since the Industrial Revolution. As we navigate the fourth Industrial Revolution, marked by the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart technologies, there is a palpable need for sustainable business models. Notably, transportation, a major environmental offender, contributes 16.2% to global greenhouse emissions, with road transport alone accounting for 11.9%. This paper focuses on innovative sustainable strategies in the delivery sector, targeting a holistic approach grounded in the three pillars of sustainability: People, Planet, and Profit. Following the in-depth research interviews undertaken with top-management executives in the traditional delivery businesses, therefore the current paper attempts to assess the good practices in sustainable management, following the 5 management principles: planning, organizing, directing, staff and controlling, in the context of the AI-driven business models and find paths for further improvement following the three pillars of sustainability: People, Planet and Profit.","PeriodicalId":296892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Management Conference","volume":"21 21","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141048743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to the major risks health personnel face, it is necessary to find solutions in managing the psychological impact to which they are subjected. The digital revolution, the globalized economy and the increasing demand upon limited resources are developing a culture of stress within organizations. The employees’ flexibility and commitment are reduced to the parameters of an equation whose result is none other than profit maximization. In this context, the study of burnout makes perfect sense. Therefore, we decided to perform an analysis in a county public sector emergency hospital, to establish strategies for human resources motivation, the key element in providing workers who are committed to their full capacity in achieving the objectives of an entire organization, in particular to those that take care of patients infected with SARS-CoV2. An employee who identifies himself/herself with the organizational objectives is a satisfied employee, with a job that provides fulfillment considered important at the individual level and from the managerial function perspective, such an employee is a well-performing employee. In this article, we aim to analyze the burnout syndrome, which is becoming more present among medical staff, in the context of the current pandemic with Covid-19. This research is based on the responses of 40 employees operating in a public sector hospital and analyzes what is the psychological impact of medical staff dedicated to the care of patients infected with SARS-CoV2. Although the sample is represented by employees in the health system, the results can be useful to all the managers interested in the level of satisfaction or burnout of his / her direct subordinates.","PeriodicalId":296892,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Management Conference","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125025188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
