The research involved 120 respondents and used an ex-post facto research design. Findings revealed that 51.67 per cent of the farmers were in the middle age group, with 28.34 per cent having a middle school education. In terms of farm experience, 61.66 per cent had medium-level experience, and 45.83 per cent had received training. Additionally, 34.18 per cent had families of five to six members, and 46.66 per cent had an annual income ranging from Rs. 1,00,001 to Rs. 1,50,000. Landholding size was medium for 56.66 per cent of farmers, while 63.34per cent had a medium level of social participation. Furthermore, 67.50 per cent had medium-level mass media exposure, and 45.00 per cent had medium-level scientific orientation. Risk orientation showed 62.50 per cent of farmers in the medium-risk group, and 54.84 per cent had a medium level of innovativeness. This study highlights the multifaceted factors influencing cotton growers’ knowledge and attitude towards IPM. Education, farm experience, training, income, social participation, mass media exposure, scientific orientation, risk orientation, and innovativeness significantly contribute to the adoption of IPM strategies. The study identified non-availability of tricho-cards, Trichoderma, pheromone traps, and light traps in local markets as major constraints. Cotton growers suggested making these items available at the local market to facilitate their adoption of IPM.","PeriodicalId":284553,"journal":{"name":"Gujarat Journal of Extension Education","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123521142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To determine and notice how the farmers perceive about the FPO, the scale to measure perception was developed. On the basis of 14 criterion advocated by Edward and Likert, 37 statements were framed. To find out the content validity of the statements, the expert judges who had sound knowledge about the concept were selected and then the statements were administered to them. t test was administered to finalize the statements, t value more than 1.75 were included to develop the scale. Thus, 25 statements were finalized, 23 positive and 2 negative statements. Reliability of the statement determines how reliable the statements are to develop the scale odd-even and spearman brown formula was incorporated to find reliability. Final 25 statements were selected with reliability r value of 0.66 and spearman brown formula 0.77 was calculated.","PeriodicalId":284553,"journal":{"name":"Gujarat Journal of Extension Education","volume":"199 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128653472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This sector needs to grow at a faster rate than in the past to allow foe higher per capita income and consumption. The limitation in Transfer of Technology(TOT) model continues to remain a challenge for the public and private extension systems. With the availability of telephone and internet, it is now possible to bridge this gap to quite a large extent by using an appropriate mix of technologies. The Department of Agriculture and Co-operation, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India has launched KCC scheme on 21st January, 2004 with a view to leverage the extensive telecom infrastructure in the country to deliver extension services to the farming community. The purpose of these call centre is to respond to issues raised by the farmer, instantly in the local language. Ex –post – facto research design was used in this investigation. The study was conducted in Odisha. Odisha state was purposively selected and Odisha state is having 30 districts, the Cuttack district was selected purposively, out of 15 revenue blocks in Cuttack district, two blocks namely Salepur and Nischintakoili were selected purposively Selection of villages was made on the basis of number of farmers using the services of KCC regularly. 4 villages and 120 respondents were selected randomly. The study revealed that education, land holding, annual income, innovativeness, social participation, source of information, scientific orientation and risk orientation were highly influencing the attitude of respondents towards the use of Kisan Call Centre and extension contact influenced the attitude of respondents towards the use of Kisan Call Centre. It also revealed that more aged farmers developed negative attitude towards use of Kisan Call Centre and occupation and family size are not influencing the attitude of the respondents.","PeriodicalId":284553,"journal":{"name":"Gujarat Journal of Extension Education","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134062765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, an array of ICTs tools and projects are available not only in urban areas but in rural areas also. However effective utilization of ICTs for accessing agricultural information by the farmers is the major concern as generally, people use them more for entertainment and time passing. To what extent the farmers are using the ICTs in accessing agriculture information is fundamental for redesigning the agricultural development projects integrating the ICTs. Keeping this in view, the study was undertaken to ascertain the extent of the use of ICTs for accessing agricultural information by the farmers of South Gujarat. The study was carried out in the Valsad and Navsari districts of Gujarat for 120 farmers. Multistage random sampling was adopted for the selection of respondents. An Ex-post-facto research design was used for the study. Results of the study indicated that the majority (62.50 percent) of the respondents had a moderate level of extent of utilization of ICTs followed by 19.17 and 18.33 percent of them had high and low extent of utilization, respectively.
