The main trends and conditions are identified, taking into account which the development of the domestic educational sphere is taking place today. The fundamental role of institutions of higher education in the process of training qualified specialists, who in the future will largely determine the main directions of development of the Russian state, is outlined. Model author B.D. Jones included five components in the structure of the model of academic (learning) motivation, such as: student empowerment, usefulness, success, interest, care. The article describes the components of the model and presents methodological recommendations that teachers can take into account when developing their own system of motivating students in the educational process.
