A maritime traffic network, consisting of nodes that represent waypoint areas and navigational legs, is constructed to represent the maritime traffic at a larger scale. The proposed maritime traffic network extraction approach consists of three phases: 1) extraction of maritime traffic motion patterns based on historical Automatic Identification System data; 2) enrich the ship trajectories with semantic information and each ship trajectory is abstracted as an “origin-waypoint-destination” itinerary object; 3) ship itinerary objects are further merged into nodes and edges of a directed maritime traffic network. Based on the maritime traffic network, a hierarchical reasoning approach is proposed to associate a partially observed ship trajectory to the derived compatible ship routes and ship abnormal behaviour can be detected. The presented method can assist maritime authorities to improve the efficiency of maritime traffic surveillance and to develop strategies to improve navigation safety.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130354582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To analyse the causation of those accidents, identify the key factors and determine the high-risk scenarios, this study acquires experience of using the complex network in road/air traffic domain, establishes a network model based on the historical accident records and investigates the causation by using causation chains approaches and complex network theory. For the sake of this aim, the study firstly collected five years of accident data in the water along the costal of China and determined the causation chains for each accident. Then, a network model was developed to combine all the determined chains. While using complex network theory, the analysis was illustrated to clarify the characteristic of the developed network and the accident risk under different stages. Ultimately, a conclusion was drawn, highlighting that ship collision is the major type of accidents. The accident risk for ships presented remarkable characteristics of random transition and derivation. Nevertheless, the whole system has high resilience on single failure but is easy to collapse when several incidents exist. This research may provide theoretical support for ship navigation safety supervision as well as maritime transportation system risk prevention.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130595253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results show that the main factors affecting fatal accidents are accident form (pedestrian scratch), cause of accident (failing to give way and speeding), time period (early morning and evening), vehicle type (car and heavy truck), traffic control mode (no control, only signs and markings). On this basis, the improvement suggestions are put forward according to the factors affecting the accident. The research conclusions can provide decision-making reference for the accident prevention of national and provincial road intersections.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114759103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, the lidar with high-ranking accuracy and strong anti-interference ability has also received more attention in the ship perception field. Aiming at the automatic detection and identification of typical obstacles for intelligent ships during navigation, an algorithm is proposed for the obstacle recognition of waterways based on 3D lidar. At first, the original point cloud obtained by 3D lidar is preprocessed to filter out noise signals. Then, the water surface and the waterway line are segmented by analyzing the point cloud features. Finally, a new DBSCAN clustering model is proposed and the obstacle features are summarized to complete the classification. A series of field experiments have been carried out. The experimental results show that the algorithm performs high accuracy and reliability for obstacle recognition.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124382462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this framework, first, seven indexes are selected for intersections and sections, including saturation, delay, queue length, and equilibrium for intersections, and travel time, number of stops, and travel time dispersion for sections. Second, based on the seven indexes, a simple weighted average method is applied to evaluate the road network state following the intersection-section-network structure. Third, and most importantly, an optimization model is proposed and solved using particle swarm optimization algorithm to find dynamically the optimal weights with respect to expert evaluation during the optimization time interval. Finally, the optimized weights are then applied to evaluate the road network state for application time interval. The proposed framework is validated using VISSIM simulation for two road networks selected from Lianyungang City. Results show that the proposed framework can dynamically fine-tune the weights so that the road network operational state can be evaluated dynamically. Future studies are recommended to incorporate more indexes and apply the framework in real world applications.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126348617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As to the evacuation model construction, firstly, the road network model with width was proposed, based on which the algorithm of dense crowd passing in road sections with width, as well as the algorithm of evacuation path searching considering distance and traffic flow were proposed. Besides, an improved model of individual collision avoidance was proposed. As to the simulation system, taking a large cruise ship as an example, based on the three-dimensional ship model, the road sections model with width were built, and the spatial nodes such as rooms, restaurants and cinemas were connected to form a path network with width. then the path network of each floor was connected with the evacuation exit to form an evacuation topology network of the whole ship. With the support of the proposed path finding algorithm and the improved individual collision avoidance model, the simulation of emergency evacuation processes were realized and the cruise ship emergency evacuation three-dimensional simulation system was developed. Based on the three-dimensional simulation system, the paper focuses on the simulation of different escape exit layout and different evacuation strategies. By comparing and analyzing the simulation results, the key factors affecting the efficiency and safety of emergency evacuation of cruise ships are accurately identified, which can provide auxiliary support for the design of space layout and evacuation facilities of cruise ships and the optimization of emergency evacuation plan.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121441260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The original cost function only considers the traffic conditions when it flows freely. This leads to not matching the calculation results of the model and the actual traffic conditions. Therefore, the cost function was improved as follows: when congestion occurs, adding traffic reduction and road capacity is resultant as the traffic volume to the cost function; when obstruction occurs, the study sets a large value to the saturability in the cost function. At this point, the cost function is improved reflecting the three traffic conditions: free, congested, and obstructed. On this basis, the complex dynamic characteristics are found by applying the improved cost function to the double-constrained dynamic gravity model and analyzing the model through bifurcation diagrams, time series diagrams, maximum Lyapunov exponent spectrograms. Finally, by comparing the dynamics maps of the models, it is found that the improved model can easily recover to the periodic state after being disturbed and has stronger robustness and structural stability.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130265317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The superior performance of high-speed railway makes it an inevitable trend to participate in the combined transportation of goods. In this paper, a multi-objective green multimodal transportation path optimization model is established by considering the restriction of node schedule and customer receiving time window. This model combines with three transportation modes of roads, waterway and high-speed railway. It aims to minimize carbon emissions and transportation costs while maximizing logistics service satisfaction. Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm based on reference points (NSGA-III) is applied to solve the model. And the feasibility and effectiveness of the model and algorithm are verified by a numerical example, which provides a variety of transportation schemes to meet the differentiated needs of customers for multimodal transport operators.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134440164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In consideration of the path planning requirements for emerging autonomous or smart ships, a novel path planning algorithm that combined the improved artificial potential field method with model predictive control is proposed. A novel potential field function is proposed to achieve collision avoidance and target point arrival in complex waters. Then, ship maneuverability based on the Nomoto model is considered to generate the trackable path. Moreover, the path planning problem is converted to a nonlinear optimization problem, and maneuverability models, position update methods, etc., are considered in the constraints. Finally, the path planning problem is solved using model predictive strategy and online optimization algorithm. We verify the effectiveness of the MPC with different prediction steps in a multi-obstacle scenario. The simulation results show that compared to traditional APF and particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based APF, the proposed algorithm can generate a safer and more feasible path in complex scenarios and meet the real-time requirements.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134364563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
