Covid - 19 causes unprecedented disruptions to the countries where food supplies heavily rely on shipping, such as the United Kingdom (UK). It is vital to assess the associated food shipping systems to ensure national food supply resilience. This paper aims to assess the national food supply chain (FSC) resilience for the UK by considering food import dependency and shipping transport connectivity. A new national food connectivity index (NFCI) framework is formulated, and supporting data is collected from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the United Nations Commodity Trade (UN Comtrade). NFCI of the UK is calculated and compared with other countries. The formulation and analysis contribute to a newly proposed formal method to assess a nation's FSC resilience and observe and address the shortcomings of its food supply system for food security.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131069368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In emergency scenarios, the organization of the flow and evacuation of crowds is essential to provide safe and effective passenger evacuation of a ship. This review systematically analyzed optimization-based pedestrian evacuations in passenger ships with focus on seeking intervention strategies to improve the efficiency of ship evacuation. A total of 38 relevant papers obtained using a keyword search on the Web of Science and the snowball method were analyzed. Three major ship evacuation optimization approaches were identified: (1) optimization of the structure design and layouts of the ship, (2) optimization of evacuation path and planning, and (3) passenger behavior modification, active instructions, and training. The characteristics and challenges of the three optimization methods are analyzed separately. Finally, the optimization areas of passenger ship evacuation for further research are proposed.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132829270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An improved Haussdorff-DBSCAN based scheme is proposed to find trajectory clustering of the cruise passengers, considering the characteristics of UWB location data and the semantic sequence of passenger-wise location. In the first phase, traditional Haussdorff distance calculation method cannot precisely express the similarity between two trajectories. The location semantic information is added to the calculation so that it will be more accurate when discover the convoy pattern of trajectories. In the second phase, the input of the improved Hausdorff-DBSCAN algorithm is the passenger trajectories data set, and the clustering radius is determined according to the overall similarity threshold of trajectories. The output are the emerging clusters of passenger trajectories in the same companion group. Due to the reason that there is no condition to install UWB positioning devices in a real cruise, the validity of the presented algorithm is verified by the trajectory data obtained from the passengers simulation on one deck of the cruise, which is modeled in Anylogic. The results indicate that the precision of the algorithm reaches 0.92, the recall value reaches 0.93, substantially higher than the existing algorithm.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133580656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, B-spline-based path planners have attracted extensive interest because of control flexibility and continuous curvature. However, the B-spline-based planning requires lots of resources to solve due to the multiple nonlinear constraints. Therefore, a new hybrid algorithm is proposed, which utilizes the comple- mentary advantages of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and improved ant colony optimization (IACO), called PSO-IACO. The proposed algorithm comprises two phases. First, the PSO ensures a fast convergence to a series of feasible rough paths, which are used to initialize the pheromone allocation and the position of IACO. Then, the IACO with the advantage of positive feedback help improves the quality of the path. Moreover, the main improvement of IACO from ACO is the pheromone update strategy considering the local and global search experience, which is inspired by the idea of PSO and Max-Min ant system. Simulation demonstrates that the path quality of PSO-IACO outperforms that of PSO, IACO, Midaco, and genetic algorithm(GA). It also outperforms that of Enumeration in most scenarios. The success solution rate is improved two times as compared to Midaco for some scenarios. And the execution time is reduced to 74% in comparison with Enumeration for the large-scalescenario.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132179797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In some ports, fairway has been seriously congested, especially one-way fairway with multi-junction, which has become the bottleneck restricting the development of ports. Besides, ships are prone to conflict at junctions because of complicated traffic flow, which leads to the decrease of port operation efficiency and the increase of the safety risk. In order to overcome the challenge, this paper formulates an efficient and reasonable method to optimize port management, which can avoid huge reconstruction cost. Firstly, a simulation model is established to present the whole process of ships in port. In addition, an evaluation index system of traffic situation of one-way fairway with multi-junction is proposed and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) cross-efficiency evaluation approach is developed to analyze the influence of navigation rules on traffic situation of one-way fairway with multi-junction. Finally, a case study is introduced and the result shows that the best choice for the port area in case study is the ship comprehensive priority rule combined with speed limit 8 knots. The approach proposed by this paper can obtain the optimal ship navigation rule, which provides a foundation for port planning and ship management.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115368318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experimental platform consists of software and hardware parts. The hardware part includes its electronic control system, communication system and propulsion system. The software part includes a software system based on the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework and a simulation platform based on Gazebo. This paper proposed a robust type2-fuzzy logic (T2FLS) controller to tackle system uncertainties and external disturbances, and the simulation results show the feasibility and effectiveness of this algorithm. The designed control algorithm is verified using a Gazebo implementation in the frame of ROS. This paper developed a Gazebo simulation platform which can debug the control algorithm, simulate the marine environment, and establish an ocean current interference model. Since the input and output interfaces in the simulation environment are consistent with the existing USV system, the actual USV experiment can be carried out directly after the simulation with no code conversion and other operations, thus simplifying the work and speeding up the experiment progress.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115805807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important for transportation managers to develop active traffic management policies, for traffic system users to plan reasonable and efficient travel routes, and for the development of theoretical research on traffic flow theory. However, travel time on urban road segments is characterized by drastic fluctuations and randomness due to signal control at intersections, dynamic and uncertainty of traffic demand and a large number of traffic incidents, which greatly increases the difficulty of accurate and robust prediction. At the same time, with the theoretical innovation in machine learning, the rise of high-performance computing and big data technologies, deep learning has gradually evolved from an unachievable concept to complex machine learning models that can surpass many models to achieve accurate prediction and large-scale application deployment. Therefore, more and more researchers are concerned on deep learning theory and applications. The existing shallow learning prediction methods have the characteristics of vulnerability, shallowness, and finiteness. Many shallow learning models are difficult to accurately model sudden traffic events, and incapable of extracting rich features. They often perform well for predictions within a certain period of time, and therefore cannot be utilized to successfully solved the problem of travel time prediction of urban roads. Deep learning methods, however, are good at multi-level feature extraction and can model time-dependent data precisely. However, deep learning also faces the challenges of great training costs and difficulty in hyper-parameter optimization. This paper deeply analyzes the scientific connotation of urban road segments travel time prediction problem and a series of research methods and their applicability, and finally proposes the future research content and development direction.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"417 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124269443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various waterway regulations projects have been performed to provide favorable navigable conditions for inland water transport. Owing to the complex driving and response mechanisms, the relationship between regulation strategies and hydrodynamics has not yet been revealed. Thus, a case study is presented in Dongliu channel, characterized as a complex braided river. The relationship between river shaking force and geometry is evaluated in terms of channel and riverbed stability index. The results indicate that the waterway conditions are generally improved although a few negative variations have been observed at the inlet of Laohu Shoal and Xigang. In the light of hydrograph, the stability index of Dongliu channel is evaluated considering river bank protections, flow conditions and river configurations. Meanwhile, human activities would alter the river bathymetry and hydrodynamic conditions, thus should be carefully considered during developing a waterway regulation program. The present study could provide a guidance for waterway regulations in complex braided rivers.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114408222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a new type of industrial park, the industry-city integration has gradually become the development direction. There is no tailor-made quantitative planning scheme at this stage. Aiming at filling the gap, this research does the following work to provide quantitative guidance strategy for industrial park planning. This paper first analyzes the Transit-oriented development (TOD) model requirements of new industrial parks, and makes a detailed analysis of the interaction between land use and transportation. Secondly, based on the relationship between land use and transportation, a combined feedback model of the land planning model and the public transportation utility allocation model is established. The process of modeling is to plan the smallest land unit according to the principle of land use function combination and land use type to meet the needs of residents. The other is to plan public transportation with optimal road load according to the principle of public transportation guiding travel and maximizing travel efficiency. Notedly, this paper uses the TOPSIS method to normalize the planning score through the feedback relationship between land use planning and public transportation planning. Based the analysis, the genetic algorithm is used to optimize the planning score and obtain the best plan which provides quantitative guidance strategies for the industrial park planning. Finally, this paper selects the “Blank Land” of Suzhou Industrial Parks for case analysis, and the best standardized score after planning is about 87 points. In order to further analyze the planning effect and the relationship between the planned area and the rest of the land, ArcGIS is used to carry out demand analysis and land use radiation range analysis of the planning scheme. The results show that the travel demand after planning matches with the radiation range of land use, which can effectively guide travel demand and enhance the effectiveness of regional land use planning.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114385831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
