As the Czech labour market deals with the lowest unemployment rate among the EU countries and lacks thousands of IT specialists, companies have to focus on the employee motivation and stimulation, on the Employer brand improvements and proper communication. Employee benefits may be considered a differentiator on the job market as a complementary part of the attraction strategy, as well as a retention tool for internal talents. Based on the quantitative analysis of questionnaires responded by 35 Czech companies from different sectors (realized in 2017-2018) authors discuss the flexibility of employee benefits offer, prevalence of particular benefits and availability for individual groups of employees. It was found that although companies more often focus at the flexibility of both financial and non-financial benefits which may positively influence attraction and retention strategy, still do not actively differentiate between employee benefits offer for IT and non-IT jobs and probably do not utilize the available potential.","PeriodicalId":235267,"journal":{"name":"International Days of Statistics and Economics 2019","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125157284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A great number of analysts focus on surveys which have an ability to predict a business cycle or the gross domestic product (GDP). Business and consumer surveys are ones of these popular instruments. These surveys have many advantages – results are published monthly, and they can identify the turning points in the economy. Of course, there are some areas left for improvement – for example, many analysts discuss the weighting scheme, a system of weights indicating an importance of individual parts of the surveys. Thanks to harmonisation, the weighting scheme is the same for all European countries. Unfortunately for some of them, it is not the best option because the weights do not suit the structure of the economy a very well. In this article, the authors want to construct a new weighting system for the calculation of the composite confidence indicator. Using this modified method, we could obtain a better prediction of the GDP, and could be better prepared for a potential future economic crisis.","PeriodicalId":235267,"journal":{"name":"International Days of Statistics and Economics 2019","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122718992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To answer this question, we conducted a questionnaire survey of large industrial enterprises employees (n=1050). As long as young people are the most promising resource for innovative development, we have limited the object of study to workers under the age of 30. Respondents were divided into three groups according to their position in the enterprise: managers, engineers, skilled workers. According to the results, skilled workers are almost not included in the process of implementation and development of innovations. As for engineers, they are little involved in the discussion of decisions on the implementation of innovations, they not participate in the development of new projects. Primarily, this remains the prerogative of managers. We identified two types of strategies practiced by young employees of enterprises the “adaptation strategy” (readiness to master new technologies and improve their skills) and “creative strategy” (readiness to offer and develop their projects). The creative type of strategy is found mainly among managers, the adaptation strategy is found among all categories of employees.","PeriodicalId":235267,"journal":{"name":"International Days of Statistics and Economics 2019","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129988715","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The terms as Revolution 4.0, Industry 4.0, Work 4.0, Education 4.0, and so on, surround us. These are associated with the current phase of digitization and robotization in anticipation of the further groundbreaking technological revolution. Radical changes await not only labour markets, individual economies, and entire societies. Society 4.0 or even 5.0 are presented. The authors of the paper evoke several fundamental questions raised by the emergence of new technologies at the moral level. Whether it is rational to behave ethically in conditions of digital society 4.0? How new modern technology influences human values, and how does one change himself? What role does responsibility play in introducing modern technologies? Is there Ethics 4.0 or Machine Ethics as part of artificial intelligence? Over the past two decades, ethics has become a fashionable word, just like corporate social responsibility (CSR). Are they just the popular fashion themes for education and business or have a legitimate mission here? Are marketing practices of manipulation and deception compatible with ethics? The contribution draws on available sources and realities within the Czech Republic and the EU and critically evaluates technology i4.0 contradictory impacts on society","PeriodicalId":235267,"journal":{"name":"International Days of Statistics and Economics 2019","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130213579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The application of methods of analysis, comparison and synthesis evaluates the impacts of population aging in the dimensions of the social system (pensions, social services) and health care. These dimensions are an expression of intergenerational solidarity and an integral part of the state's public finances. As a result of the aging population, Czech public finances are not sustainable despite the expected growth of the economy and tax revenues. Provided current fiscal policy is maintained, public debt would rise to 230% of gross domestic product in 2068. This forecast is also confirmed by the application of generational accounting methods through an intergenerational index, which, based on current economic and social policy trends, foresees a long-term imbalance in public finances within the social and health system of the Czech Republic.","PeriodicalId":235267,"journal":{"name":"International Days of Statistics and Economics 2019","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116872333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The largest part of healthcare expenditures is usually dedicated to the hospital sector. That is why analyzing factors that can have an impact on the performance of hospitals seems to be of a great importance. There can be found diverse economic theories and models – including the background of agglomeration economies – aimed at explaining the performance of hospitals. From the agglomeration economies’ perspective the place of location might have a serious impact on a general situation of a particular entity. The problem of a proper location of an enterprise is quite often analyzed dividing companies for the ones operating inside or outside big cities. However, in case of hospitals it is still an open question if the place of location might have a serious influence on the economic outcomes – especially the obtained financial results. One of the most suitable tools analyzing such influence are either economic or econometric models. This article is aimed at assessing the current state of knowledge and presenting potential research gap in the analyzed matter, which should be fulfilled by the further empirical studies. As it is revealed in the article there exists a research gap concerning models conducted on the background of agglomeration economies explaining financial performance of hospitals.","PeriodicalId":235267,"journal":{"name":"International Days of Statistics and Economics 2019","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131585309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While metalearning is potentially beneficial for the analysis of economic data, we must be aware of its instability and sensitivity to outlying measurements (outliers) as well as measurement errors. The aim of this paper is to robustify the metalearning process. First, we prepare some useful theoretical tools exploiting the idea of implicit weighting, inspired by the least weighted squares estimator. These include a robust coefficient of determination, a robust version of mean square error, and a simple rule for outlier detection in linear regression. We perform a metalearning study for recommending the best linear regression estimator for a new dataset (not included in the training database). The prediction of the optimal estimator is learned over a set of 20 real datasets with economic motivation, while the least squares are compared with several (highly) robust estimators. We investigate the effect of variable selection on the metalearning results. If the training as well as validation data are considered after a proper robust variable selection, the metalearning performance is improved remarkably, especially if a robust prediction error is used.","PeriodicalId":235267,"journal":{"name":"International Days of Statistics and Economics 2019","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134163548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Disparities between regions are due to the sectoral orientation and economical possibilities of regions. The economic performance of the regions is significantly affected by the sectoral structure of the region. The reaction of individual regions to economic changes is different. The aim of this paper is to assess how the changes in the structure of the sectors affect the economic performance of regions. The analysis identifies the sources of economic growth of regions and their changes. This paper also provides insights concerning the convergence in performance across regions. The paper is focused on the regions of the Czech Republic (NUTS 3). The analysis found no convergence of sectoral structures in Czech regions. The regions use internal potential and does not significantly change the sectoral structure of the Czech regions.","PeriodicalId":235267,"journal":{"name":"International Days of Statistics and Economics 2019","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132311287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to identify the main causes of migration movements and factors that affect migrants to obtain citizenship in receiving countries. Over the past twelve years, the migration surplus accounted for twenty-three European Union countries. Our study allowed us to conclude that the share of migrants remaining in the country is directly affected by the level of labour productivity per employee, and the opposite is affected by: 1) an indicator of overcrowding relative to the level of poverty; 2) the risk level of poverty of migrant workers and 3) the unemployment rate. Despite the presence of return migration, the largest percentage of people who have received citizenship in the countries of the European Union accounts for: Greece 73.3%, Latvia 56.6%, Sweden 38.9%, France 37%, Estonia 30%, Belgium 29%, Great Britain 28% and other countries. The main reasons for return migration are economic (due to existing investments in fixed capital in their hometown, saving from poverty and significant economic inequality in host countries) and social (due to strong family ties, obligations to older generations — parents and their children from family migrants).","PeriodicalId":235267,"journal":{"name":"International Days of Statistics and Economics 2019","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132361643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
