There have been numerous studies devoted to the peculiarities of audiovisual translation of materials, yet the majority of the research focuses solely on theoretical aspects. The article addresses the issue of comprehension and perception of audiovisual materials, as this issue is one of the most perspective and understudied questions of modern linguistics. The authors provide a brief analysis of the theoretical basis of the issue under discussion, referring to the research results of foreign and Russian scholars. The authors also describe the empiric-experimental analysis of German-language media perception by the Russian-speaking audience; summarize the results and outline the conclusions. The article covers the empiric-experimental psycholinguistic research based on the scaling method. The study contains the findings on the influence of the specifics of translation of chosen fragments of the series \"Dark\" on the audience's perception and comprehension of the audiovisual materials translated into Russian, in comparison with the perception of the same fragments by the audience viewing the original content in German. The authors also formulate the perspectives for further study of the issue in question. The study indicated significant deviations in the translation of the content of some episodes, reflected in the perception disparity between the materials seen in the original and the translated versions. The results suggest that the translated material becomes less expressive; some of the scenes are misrepresented in terms of meaning. The potential for further research is to increase the scope of the material studied and to use additional methods of measuring perceptual disparities, with the help of EEG, oculography, etc.","PeriodicalId":228573,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Southern Federal University. Turgenev's novel \"Fathers and Children\" on A.P. Chekhov's story \"The Bishop\". The relevance of the work lies in the perspective of the study, which assumes not just a comparison of the images of mothers in the works, but also allows us to talk about child-parent relations as an important problematic core of texts. Despite the fact that Chekhov's interest in this novel is known to everyone, the \"Bishop\" did not become an object of interest to the scientist in the proposed way. Common features in the \"mother-son\" collision are revealed. Mothers are similar in relation to their sons – they love children very much and are shy to show this love at the same time. Their affection is manifested in facial expressions, gestures, and eye expressions. The problem of tragic loneliness of heroes is touched upon. If in Turgenev's novel Bazarov opposes himself to the world, then in Chekhov's story the world seems to repel the hero, who has no one to talk to sincerely. Even the strong and sincere love of the mother does not save the hero from loneliness. The finales of the texts turn out to be fundamentally important. They find themselves converging on one thing – private death does not disrupt the general course of life. Both Turgenev and Chekhov avoid didactics. However, in the finale of the novel \"Fathers and Children\", the parents' funeral prayer for their son sounds. The idea of the saving power of parental love is affirmed. It will be the key to the hope of eternal life for their son. The finale of Chekhov's story is tragic. Despite his sincere faith in God, the hero is experiencing an existential catastrophe, and maternal love is not able to prevent it. This article describes Internet-memes from the point of view of the theory of linguocreativity. The aim of the study is to reveal the linguistic and creative possibilities of language in Internet memes. In addition, the author of this work focuses on the analysis of possible difficulties that prevent an adequate understanding of Russian-speaking and English-speaking Internet memes. One of the manifestations of linguistic creativity is playing with language. The language game is based on humor and a comic beginning. The practical implementation of the language game in Internet memes is diverse and manifests itself by highlighting at the lexical, phraseological, graphic and stylistic levels. Linguistic creativity is considered on the example of Internet-memes which were selected by a continuous sampling method from the social networks “Vkontakte”, “Instagram”, “Twitter”. As a result of the research, the author came to the conclusion that Internet-memes are an example of linguistic creativity which manifests itself in the form of language and interlanguage games.","PeriodicalId":228573,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Southern Federal University. Milkevich","doi":"10.18522/1995-0640-2022-4-37-49","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18522/1995-0640-2022-4-37-49","url":null,"abstract":"The cognitive approach to the analysis of the lexical meaning of words makes it possible to explain the complex semantic structures of linguistic units by means of identifying cognitive models and mechanisms. These cognitive constructs underlie the formation of both literary and non-literary meanings of words. Somatic vocabulary, i. e. words naming parts of the human body, is of particular interest to cognitive linguists, as it clearly demonstrates the effect of one of the main postulates of cognitive linguistics, the postulate of embodied mind. Moreover, the physical, structural and functional properties of body parts also have a potential in forming the semantics conceptualisation of the lexemes. The data obtained from BNC of the lexeme mouth, 500 citations, give the following results. The research shows that the literal meaning of the lexeme mouth is based on its perception as a container (MOUTH AS A CONTAINER), as a static object and as an object with inherent physiological properties (MOUTH AS A OBJECT (STATIC PHYSIOLOGICAL)). The collocations of mouth in that meaning is limited to a certain group of prepositions, verbs and adjectives. In some cases the literal meaning has a strong symbolic connotation which is easily inferred. The connotations reflect positive and negative feelings and states of a person. This fact confirms the thesis about the close interrelation of the internal state of a person and its external physiological manifestations. We single out positive and negative semantic prosody of these citations, such as firmness, attractiveness, anger, irritation, etc. The non-literal metonymic meaning of mouth gives evidence of the models MOUTH FOR ITS PARTS, MOUTH FOR A PERSON, MOUTH FOR ACTIVITY with their sub-models. The metonymic relations between the two concepts of each model are connected by contiguity, as both concepts are located inside one specific idealized cognitive model describing mouth as a body part, a person and human activities.","PeriodicalId":228573,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of Southern Federal University.
