The lipase production was optimized using different growth parameters. The enzyme was purified and characterized in terms of pH, temperature, solvents, heavy metal ions and inhibitors. Compatibility with commercially available detergents was also studied. The isolate showed maximum lipase production at 37 ⁰C; pH of 9 within 48 h. Addition of magnesium chloride increased lipase production. Sephadex G-100 chromatography was used to purify lipase. The enzyme showed maximum activity at pH 8 of 30 ⁰C. Lipase form B. coagulans was active at a wide range of temperature between 30-70 ⁰C. It was stable in most of the solvents at a concentration 5 and 10%, except dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and methanol. Iodoacetic acid (IAA) and p-chloromercuribenzoic acid (pCMB) had an inhibitory effect on lipase. The lipase was compatible with commercially available detergents that increased the brightness and whiteness of the tested cotton fabrics. Lipase from B. coagulans with alkaline stability at a wide range of temperature has potential application in the detergent industry.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43794884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bean dregs are rich in glycoside-type soy isoflavones. In order to improve the biological activity of soy isoflavones in bean dregs, the Lactobacillus plantarum PL70a was screened and the fermentation process of converting glycoside-type soy isoflavones into aglycone-type in bean dregs was optimized by single-factor experiments and the response surface methodology. The optimal fermentation process was as follows: (NH4)2SO4 was added in an amount of 0.17%, glucoamylase was added in an amount of 0.87%, inoculation amount was 17%, sucrose was added in an amount of 1.3%, and fermentation time was 3 days. Under this process, the content of aglycone-type soy isoflavones in bean dregs significantly increased. Trypsin inhibitors and antigen proteins were almost removed. The fermentation process provides a good reference for the low-cost processing of high-quality soy isoflavone aglycone food.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42010412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The experiments were carried out during the 2017 and 2019 growing seasons in rain-fed conditions on a Serbian farm. The results of the two-year long experiments proved that the growing of the quinoa cultivar Puno and particularly the cultivar Titicaca in the agro-ecological conditions of Serbia would be remarkably successful from the aspect of agronomy (with the obtained average yield of 2.5 t ha-1 ) as well as from the aspect of economy (with the achieved average profit of 9,411 € ha-1 ). The obtained profit values indicate that the quinoa production in the Republic of Serbia would be more cost-effective than the production of the field crops which are already produced, particularly in the increasingly present arid conditions.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45683362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This model explained the data variation and the actual relationships between the parameters and responses. The dry biomass content as well as the production of inulinase and invertase in the bioprocess medium was influenced by inulin concentration and microelement composition. The main parameters for bioprocesses were: inoculum size 2% (v/v), pH 6, temperature 280 C and 220 rpm agitation speed. Following comparative study for production of extracellular inulinase (exo and endo inulinase) and invertase were obtained for Candida arborea the best results, invertase production having significantly higher concentrations than inulinase (35.92 U/mL invertase activity vs. 8.01 U/mL inulinase activity), on M5 medium. These results could be useful for industrial applications such as food industry, pharmaceutical.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45052085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, due to the corrosive effect of some groups of microorganisms, such as iron-oxidizing bacteria and sulphatereducing bacteria, the present paper also aimed to detect their presence in order to signal the need for some disinfection measures. According to physicochemical analysis, there has been found an external drain that is suitable for use in balneotherapy, presenting a balanced content of mineral elements such as sulphur, calcium, silicon, chlorine and potassium. However, due to the presence of potentially toxic phytoplankton microorganisms such as Microcystis sp. and Phormidium sp. it is necessary to disinfect this water source before using it for any purpose. On the other hand, the identification of both sulphate-reducing bacteria and iron-oxidizing bacteria in the drainage waters of Siriu dam should be considered as an alarm signal as they may lead to bio-corrosion and deterioration of metallic or concrete structures, affecting the integrity of the dam and hydropower constructions.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47425528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this experiment, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus casei and Lactobacillus rhamnosus were used to ferment corn stalk by single and mixed bacteria. The changes of Lactobacillus flora during fermentation were analyzed by fluorescence quantitative PCR. The results showed that the maximum number of lactic acid bacteria appeared on the 7th day of mixed fermentation, and the total bacteria content could be significantly increased by adding five kinds of lactic acid bacteria at the same time, and the number of each bacteria in mixed fermentation was close to that measured by single fermentation, which indicated that these five kinds of lactic acid bacteria could cooperate during fermentation and help to improve the quality of stalk fermented feed.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44502092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The biomass of Bacillus subtilis, Lactobacillus plantarum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae reached their maximum on the third, fifth and fifth day respectively, and then decreased gradually and maintained at a certain level. Leklek is a local variety of common bean (Phaseolus sp.) widely grown in Mersin's Gülnar district, but little is known about this variety. In the present study, bacterial species from root nodules of this common bean variety were identified by PCR-amplified 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene and 16S-23S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) region and sequencing. The partial 16S rRNA gene and 16S-23S rRNA ITS region sequences were submitted to the NCBI database (accession numbers MT967369, MT968518, respectively). Amplified sequences were used to construct a phylogenetic tree. Phylogenetic analysis based on the identified sequences showed that the isolate belonged to the genus Microbacterium and was closely related to Microbacterium paraoxydans. The findings presented here will provide a clue for understanding this bacterium's role in nodule formation in Phaseolus sp. (variety Leklek).","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46690860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, increasing and adding new fatty acids led to the enhancement of these properties. Transformation of external Acetyl-CoA gene (Aco) can enhance fatty acid components, as ACo is expressed into Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) enzyme, which is the first essential step in the fatty acid production process. Chitosan nanoparticles are safe and fast polymer nanoparticles that are applied for gene transformation. Conventional PCR was performed for the detection of the ACo gene in both transgenic and nontransgenic maize lines. The results confirm the presence of the gene in the transgenic lines and absence in non-transgenic lines. The Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis for fatty acid contents in transgenic and non-transgenic maize lines showed an increase in fatty acid contents in transgenic lines compared to non-transgenic ones. Besides, the transgenic maize’s lines produced extra new fatty acids not found in non-transgenic ones.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47119925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The success of xanthan biosynthesis was estimated based on xanthan concentration in media and its molecular weight. Glucose and glycerol were investigated as carbon sources in a quantity of 20.0 g/L. Xanthan biosynthesis by different Xanthomonas isolates on two different cultivation media was carried out in Erlenmeyer flasks under aerobic conditions for 168 h. According to the obtained results selection of the carbon source, producing strain and their combination have a statistically significant effect on xanthan quantity and quality. The results obtained in this study indicate that local wild-type Xanthomonas strains isolated from pepper leaves have a great potential for application in biotechnological production of good-quality xanthan on glycerol-based media.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43141126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
