SATB1 has been shown to promote invasion, migration and metastasis. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms, function and clinicopathological features of SATB1 in gastric cancer (GC) remains poorly understood. Here, we show that SATB1 plays critical role in GC progression. SATB1 upregulates in GC patients’ samples and shows co-apmlification with a subset of oncogenic proteins (PRICKLE2, ZEB1, CBWX7, WWTR1, ENAH, DZIP1, IGSF11, ZSCAN18, GFRA2, GFRA1, FGFR1, HDAC4, GHR, TIMP3, CLIP4, TAGLN and ILK) in different subtypes of GC. SATB1 shows positive correlation with GC promoting oncogenes and enhances the expression of metastasis associated genes in GC samples to potentiate GC progression. SATB1 enhances WNT/NOTCH signaling axis in GC samples. In contrast, STAB1 suppresses a network of tumor suppressor genes in GC samples. Moreover, SATB1 expression negatively correlates with GC patient’s survival. Importantly, we found that SATB1 co-amplified genes CLIP4, DZIP1 and PRICKLE2 independently involve in GC progression. Overexpression of CLIP4, DZIP1 and PRICKLE2 show poor survival rates in GC patients. DZIP1 empowers AKT3/FGF2/FGFR1 and CXCR3/CXCR6 in GC patients. PRICKLE2 enhances GC progression by targeting FGFR1/NOTCH3/WNT4 signaling. Taken together, these results identified novel roles of SATB1, CLIP4, DZIP1 and PRICKLE2 in the GC invasion, migration and metastasis using cancer bioinformatics approach. These results highlights clinical significance of SATB1, CLIP4, DZIP1 and PRICKLE2 in GC patients and furthermore, these proteins may serve as prognostic markers in GC. These results also provide SATB1, CLIP4, DZIP1 and PRICKLE2 as potential chemotherapeutic targets in treatment of gastric cancer patients.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47722977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So, a field experiment was carried out to study the effect of various sowing dates and seed rates of flax intercropped with sugar beet on yield, quality and economic evaluation. The main-plots were assigned to three sowing dates of flax intercropped with sugar beet and the sub-plots were allocated to four seed rates of flax. The results show that sowing date of flax after 35 days from sowing (DFS) sugar beet resulted in the highest values of sugar beet yields and quality. Maximum values of flax straw and seed yields resulted from sowing flax after 21 DFS sugar beet. Intercropping sugar beet with flax at 12.5% from recommended seed rate on top sugar beet terraces attained the most elevated values of sugar beet yield and quality. Sowing flax at 50% from recommended rate resulted in the best values of flax technical and fruiting zone length, also straw and seed yield/hectare. The maximum yield and economic return of both crops were obtained from sowing flax at 12.5% from recommended rate after (21 or 35) DFS sugar beet.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41999557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods and results: a strain of G. anatis biovar haemolytica, was isolated and phenotypic identified by morphological, cultural and biochemical characters examination, with API 20 E, API 20 NE, API STAPH, API ZYM tests and ABIS online software. The antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolate was performed using the standard disk diffusion method. Conclusions: a strain of G. anatis biovar haemolytica was isolated and phenotypically identified from a hen. From our knowledge, this is the first reporting in Romania of isolation and identification of G. anatis biovar haemolytica. The Gah IDSA 161 strain could be phenotypic identified only by ABIS on line software, Pasteurellaceae Database version, unifying the results of four API kits and other biochemical tests. The isolate showed a multi-drug resistant profile to tetracyclines (tetracycline, oxitetracycline, doxicyclin), floroquinolones (enrofloxacin, ciprofloxacin), ampicillin, trimethoprim, nalidixic acid, clindamycin, and it was susceptible to sulfonamide, sulfomethoxazole/trimethoprim, gentamicin, cephalothin, streptomycin, amoxicilin/clavulanic acid.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46114221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, their neuro-pharmacological properties are less evaluated through scientific studies. The present study aims to evaluate the neuroprotective effect of Calotropis procera leaves and root-bark aqueous extract, focusing on a scopolamine-induced model of epilepsy in rodents. In this study, we evaluated this plant extracts possible protective effects on the central nervous system, through the behavioral tests and the enzymes activity assays. Thus, elevated plus-maze test and Y-maze task were used to evaluate animals behavioral and UV/visible spectrophotometer methods were used to evaluate the enzyme’s activities in brain’s supernatant. Our results are showing no significant protective effects of leaves extract, but it revealed a significant neuroprotective effect of root-bark aqueous extract, as well as in the behavioral tests and the brain’s oxidative enzymes specific activity evaluation. Indeed, anti-amnesic and anxiolytic activities were observed through Y maze task and elevated plus maze tests for the groups of animals receiving root-bark extract (100 mg/kg b.w.). In these test, inhibition of disturbances of Time spent in Open Arms, Spontaneous Alternation, and Transfer Latency induced after scopolamine administration were recorded with animals received root-bark extract. Likewise, the superoxide dismutase and catalase activity disturbance induced by scopolamine were also inhibited in root-bark extract pre-administered group. Thus, our study provides biochemical and neuro-pharmacological data for traditional use of C. procera for neuropsychiatric disorders treatment, including scopolamine-induced epilepsy symptoms (mainly referring to the psychiatric comorbidities of this disorder).","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41389661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tests have been performed in microplots (10 sqm) and macroplots (1000 sqm), in three repetitions, in southern Romania. All data obtained as a result of the 2020 autumn harvest have been centralized in tables and statistically processed, in order to establish the influence of each product, compared to the control. The bifactorial analyses show that, in climatic stress conditions (prolonged drought – Calarasi), very significant increases in yield have been obtained with K4 (2.5 and 5.0 l/ha), K5 (5.0 l/ha) and C (5.0 l/ha), with increases between 700 and 1300 kg/ha, ie up to +24%. In macroplots, subject to a moderate drought (Teleorman), product C (5.0 l/ha) brought a yield increase of 1537 kg/ha (+26%), noting that in this location almost all tested biostimulators offer very significant yield growth (except KC). Based on the 2020 yields, it was possible to identify which the foliar biostimulators that will continue to be tested in 2021.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42876073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After simulating the burns on 60 rats, the traumatic hyperthermic damage factors in the main group were immediately neutralized by a gauze napkin soaked in water. Depending on its duration, the animals were divided into subgroups. Such applications were not performed on the control group. The study involved histological examination of tissues. Animals of the main groups had the presence of histologically confirmed skin appendages with a formed scar of connective tissue without signs of inflammation. In animals of the control group there were no skin appendages, which indicates a deeper thermal damage to tissues and the impossibility of self-epithelialization of wounds. These results confirm the importance and necessity of prompt neutralization of the traumatic effect of damage factors as the main elements of burn depth formation.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48248828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, the ethanol extract of the leafs was evaluated for antioxidant activities as ABTS, hydroxyl radical scavenging, superoxide radical scavenging, power of reduction, and bleaching of beta-carotene. The total phenolic and flavonoid contents of the ethanolic extract were found to be 468,11± 1,53 micrograms of pyrocatechol per milligram of the extract and 103,05 ± 2,36 µg catechin per milligram of the extract, respectively. As the extract concentration increased, the amount of anthocyanins showed a decrease (17.92±8.08 and 13.56±8.22 for the 1 mg/mL and 2 mg/mL concentrations, respectively). In the β-carotene bleaching test, higher activity was observed than BHA ( 1.540±0.053 and 1, respectively). The results of the reduction power, hydroxyl radical scavenging, and ABTS tests gave either very close values or higher than the standards chosen. Superoxide radical scavenging activity gave a lower value than the Trolox selected as standard. Antioxidant activity of ethanol extract was found to be 94.22±0.05958 (ABTS), 78.77±0.84099 (hydroxyl radical scavenging) and 47.86±0.03915 (superoxide radical scavenging). The lipase production was optimized using different growth parameters. The enzyme was purified and characterized in terms of pH, temperature, solvents, heavy metal ions and inhibitors. Compatibility with commercially available detergents was also studied. The isolate showed maximum lipase production at 37 ⁰C; pH of 9 within 48 h. Addition of magnesium chloride increased lipase production. Sephadex G-100 chromatography was used to purify lipase. The enzyme showed maximum activity at pH 8 of 30 ⁰C. Lipase form B. coagulans was active at a wide range of temperature between 30-70 ⁰C. It was stable in most of the solvents at a concentration 5 and 10%, except dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and methanol. Iodoacetic acid (IAA) and p-chloromercuribenzoic acid (pCMB) had an inhibitory effect on lipase. The lipase was compatible with commercially available detergents that increased the brightness and whiteness of the tested cotton fabrics. Lipase from B. coagulans with alkaline stability at a wide range of temperature has potential application in the detergent industry.","PeriodicalId":21566,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Biotechnological Letters","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43794884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
