{"title":"[TLR4 mRNA expression and liver injury in LPS-induced mouse].","authors":"Xiao-wei Liu, Yu You, Fang-gen Lu","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To determine the relationship between Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) mRNA expression and liver injury induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS).</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Balb/c mice were sacrificed at the indicated time points after the intra-peritoneal LPS. The livers were stained with hematoxylin and erosin for histopathologic analysis. Simultaneously, the expression of TLR4mRNA was detected by RT-PCR.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>A large number of inflammatory cells infiltrated into the portal areas and focal hepatocellular necrosis occurred 24 h after the intra-peritoneal LPS. {"title":"[Effect of ligustrazine on the expression of Bcl-2 protein and apoptosis in rabbit articular chondrocytes in monolayer culture].","authors":"Sheng Xiao, Kang-hua Li, Hong-Bin Lu","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To determine the effect of ligustrazine on the expression of Bcl-2 protein and apoptosis in rabbit articular chondrocytes in monolayer culture.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>We separated chondrocytes from the rabbit articular cartilage and cultured them in vitro. We divided them into 2 groups. One group was added the injective ligustrazine hydrochloride(LH), and the other was added the same quantity of culture medium as the comparison. The expression of Bcl-2 in every group was examined with immunohistocytochemistry technique, and the apoptosis was observed with TUNEL.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The two groups both expressed Bcl-2 protein, but the expression in the LH group was significantly higher than that in the comparison group (P < 0.01). {"title":"[Protective effects of shenmai injection on DPPH free radical-induced injuries in isolated hearts in rabbits].","authors":"Nian-sheng Li, Xiao-ming Xiong, Li-ying Liu","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To examine the protective effects of shenmai injection (SM) on DPPH free radical-induced myocardial injury in isolated hearts in rabbits.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>The isolated rabbit hearts were perfused in a Langendorff model. The left ventricular pressure (LVP), the first derivative of LVP (+dp/dtmax), left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and heart rate(HR) were recorded. Coronary flow (CF) and creatine Kinase (CK) of coronary issue were measured.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Perfusion with DPPH (0.25 mumol/L) for 5 min caused a significant impairment of cardiac function, as shown by a decrease in LVP and +dp/dtmax and an increase in LVEDP as well as the increased release of CK. {"title":"[Alteration of homocysteine before and after hemodialysis in chronic hemodialysis patients].","authors":"Hai-tao Wang, You-ming Peng, Hong Liu","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To determine the plasma hemocysteine (Hcy) concentration in chronic hemodialysis patients and controls, and the relation between chronic hemodialysis and the plasma total Hcy level in chronic hemodialysis patients.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Using HPLC-FLD method, the plasma total Hcy concentration was determined in 11 patients with chronic hemodialysis and 30 healthy volunteers.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The plasma total Hcy level in chronic hemodialysis was significantly higher than that in the controls (13.54 +/- 4.49 mumol/L) (P < 0.01). The plasma total Hcy level after the hemodialysis (21.30 +/- 10.81 mumol/L) was lower than before the hemodialysis (29.53 +/- 13.59 mumol/L) (P < 0.01).</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>The plasma total Hcy level in chronic hemodialysis patients was higher than that in the controls. {"title":"[Characteristics of bacteriology and drug sensitivity in patients with COPD combined with pneumonia].","authors":"Zhi-ming Yi, Hua Yang, Xu-dong Xiang","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To investigate the characteristics of bacteriology and the drug resistance in the patients with chronic obstructive disease (COPD) combined with pneumonia at our respiratory intensive care unit(RICU) in 2001.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>The sputum of 543 patients with COPD combined with pneumonia was collected with a regular method, the bacteria were cultured, and then the drug sensitivity was analyzed with K-B method.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>There were 181 positive samples in the 543 patients with the positive rate 33.9%. The main bacteria in the G- bacillus were Pseudomonas (21.55%), Haemophilus influenza (14.36%), Enteric bacilli (13.26%), and Klebsiella (11.60%) which were sensitive to impipenem, amikacin, and ceftazidime. The main bacteria in G+ bacteria were Staphylococcus aureus (7.18%) and Staphylococcus epidermindis (4.42%) which were sensitive to vancomycin, imipenem, ceftazidime, and amikacin.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>The bacteria in the patients with COPD combined with pneumonia at RICU of the hospital in 2001 are mainly made up of G- bacillus and secondarily of G+ bacteria which are sensitive to imipenem, amikacin, and ceftazidime. {"title":"[Effects of different doses of esmolol on cardiovascular responses to tracheal extubation].","authors":"Yan-qing Wang, Qu-lian Guo, Ding Xie","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To observe the effects of different doses of esmolol on cardiovascular responses to tracheal extubation.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>We randomly divided 175 patients undergoing elective surgery into 5 groups. Before the tracheal extubation, patients received 10 ml saline (group A), esmolol 0.5 mg/kg (group B), 1.0 mg/kg (group C), 1.5 mg/kg (group D) and 2.0 mg/kg (group E), respectively, and then the trachea was extubated 2 min later. Systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and heart rate (HR) were recorded at premedication, tracheal extubation, and 1, 3, 5, 10 min after the tracheal extubation. Rate-pressure product was derived from SBP x HR.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Compared with those at premedication, the SBP, DBP, HR, and RPP of the patients in Group A increased significantly at the tracheal extubation and 1 min after the tracheal extubation (P < 0.01). The DBP, HR, and RPP of patients in Group B were significantly higher at the tracheal extubation (P < 0.01). The SBP, HR and RPP of patients in Group B decreased significantly at the tracheal extubation and 1 min after the tracheal extubation compared with those in Group A (P < 0.01). The SBP, DBP, HR and RPP of patients in Group C, D and E decreased significantly at the tracheal extubation compared with those in group A and B (P < 0.05); as well as SBP, HR, RPP of patients in Group C, D, E at 1 min after tracheal extubation compared with those of patients in group A. SBP in Group C, D; HR in Group D, E; RPP in Group C, D, E decreased significantly at 3 min after the tracheal extubation compared with those in Group A(P < 0.05). {"title":"[Modification of silicone oil removal via limbus of corneal with aphakia].","authors":"Xiao-hua Zhu, De-yong Jiang, Ling Gong","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To introduce a simplified method to remove silicone oil via limbus of corneal after previous lensectomy-vitrectomy.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Fifty-one eyes received the modified procedures to eliminate silicone oil via one pars plana or limbus incision after previous lensectomy-vitrectomy. Local anesthesia was performed with 25G syringe needle through pars plana or corneal limbus infusion and super limbus incisions to eliminate silicone oil.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>All operations were primarily successful in eliminating silicone oil. The complications occurred in all the patients with the early low intraocular pressure, in 4 (4/51, 7.8%) eyes with retinal detachment, and in 2 (2/51, 3.9%) eyes with less bleeding at the point of puncture.
