The process of maintaining the overall colour appearance of an image while extending the colours of the source device to fit the gamut of the target device is called gamut extension. As a number of colour devices have been used widely, the gamut extension technique is required across colour media. In this study, existing gamut extension methods were surveyed and gamut extension methods using observer experimental data are suggested.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. Instead of the current structural approach, where the stress is on sequential learning, this paper suggests the use of this new methodology in designing an effective modular structure based on tree-like class hierarchies, and then implementing it in the classroom through a new approach. The latter seeks to introduce new concepts and ideas as classes, thus making it easy for the brain to assimilate the knowledge. The concept of a sample system acting as a practical and hands-on example of what the students learn is also introduced.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. This process is necessary for the future 3D display technique, in which a moving viewer can see a 3D image continuously. We first extract two eyes image and calculate the pixel coordinate of the center point between the two eyes. Next, we calculate the moving velocity in two dimension by comparing the two center point coordinates obtained at different times.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. This recognition method is based on contour information and Fourier descriptors. The proposed method is divided into three steps. First, in the preprocessing step, we extract the contours of the input digit image and separate the outer and inner contour from the contour image. Second, we extract features from the outer contour and use them to build standard models. In the last step, we recognize the digits by comparing the features of the input digits with those of the models. We use 500 data for each digit. So a total of 5000 data are used in this paper. The overall recognition rate is 99.04%.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. IEEE Region 10 Conference. TENCON 99. We proposed a morphological recognition algorithm using threshold linear superposition theory to analyze the distribution of randomly spaced and oriented blob shaped particles. We also illustrate the improvement mathematical morphology makes on the entropy thresholding of small targets.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. To achieve this goal, two techniques are employed, one is recursive motion vector estimation, and the other is a hierarchical layer processing for different motion feature. With this approach, we can attain near-global optimization and local optimization. In the final evaluation, the proposed complexity is only 1/2/spl sim/1/5 of full search, but the accuracy is slightly higher than one of full search in the particular range.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. APMN produces more effective utilization of network resources, and ensures more multimedia services to the user than a conventional client-server architecture that is spread over the network. The empirical result of implementation shows that the media-agent informs the location of the media-server to the client, and can restrict the number of clients which are provided with multimedia services from one server by considering the status of that server.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. The proposed scheme classifies the modulated signals into the FM and FM/AM signals, and applies different signal processing techniques to each modulated signal. The proposed scheme also adjusts a clipping level in order to reduce noise effects. Various simulations are performed for the estimation of the proposed scheme, as a function of target position and size. The results of simulations confirm that the proposed scheme is superior to the conventional one in the linearity of the static gain curve and robustness against noise.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE.
