Analysis of Particulate Concentrations at Highway Areas in Ulsan 蔚山高速公路一带的颗粒物浓度分析

Dong","doi":"10.1109/IFOST.2006.312350","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/IFOST.2006.312350","url":null,"abstract":"Concentrations of participate matter (PM) on highway areas in Ulsan of Korea were analyzed using a portable PM sampler and a low volume PM10 sampler during a summer sampling period. This study analyzed the air concentrations of PM1.0, PM2.5, PM7.0, PM10, and TSP (total suspended particulate) at 4 places, having quite different environment, located at highway areas in Ulsan. The PM measurements on 2 week days and 2 weekend days were conducted during the four different time zones (morning rush hour, day time, evening rush hour, midnight hour) of each measurement day, respectively. The highest average concentrations of PM1.0, PM2.5, PM7.0, PM10, and TSP were observed at the bridge on the Kyungbu highway followed by the start point of Ulsan highway with a busy traffic rotary. The PM concentrations at the toll gate and the bus stop of Ulsan highway were similar; however, they were much lower than those at the bridge or start point. The PM concentrations during the midnight and morning rush hours were much higher than those of the day time or evening rush hours. All the PM concentrations and the concentration ratio of PM 1.0 to PM2.5 at the three sites (highway start point, bus stop, bridge) during the weekend days significantly decreased as compared to their concentrations during the week days. In particular, the smaller particle sizes, the larger decrease in PM concentrations were observed at the highway start point and bus stop. However, all the PM concentrations and the concentration ratio of PM 1.0 to PM2.5 at the toll gate increased as compared to those during the week days. The smaller particle sizes, the larger increase in PM concentrations were observed at the highway toll gate. The PM concentrations increased with the increase of relative humidity level during the measurement periods showing significant correlation coefficients. The PM concentrations also increased with the increase of the total traffic density and diesel vehicle volume during day time and evening rush hours. However, they may not be significantly related to the traffic density but the humidity level during midnight time and morning rush hours which usually shows stable atmospheric conditions. Over the past decade, a few companies in Ulsan have been interested in trading their excess materials from the production line for economic purpose, but the increasing numbers of companies are participating to the industrial symbiosis (IS). By the recovery of previously discarded waste or by-products and recycling of wasted heat and water, Ulsan Eco-Industrial Park project team is taking the head for designing and implementing the industrial symbiosis by which the companies can sustain economically and environmentally. Thus it is widely known that the general semiconductor-oxide gas sensors are not appropriate for the precise measurement systems. In this paper, the output characteristic analyzer of the various thick-film metal oxide semiconductor gas sensors that are used to recognize the air quality of passenger's space of automobile are proposed and examined. The analyzed output characters in normal air chamber are grouped by sensor ranks and used to fill out the characteristic table of the thick-film metal oxide semiconductor gas sensors. The characteristic table is used to determine the rank of the sensor that is equipped in the current air cleaner system of an automobile. As increasing substrate bias voltage (Vb), surface hardness increased from 5 to 15 GPa. The proposed system has strong point of supporting high speed data transmission under frequency selective fading channel. The Ni-based amorphous powders and Cu added composite powders were compacted by a simple die hot press and a spark plasma sintering (SPS) processes into cylindrical. In the hot press, the prepared powders were pressed at 570degC (in the at Tg-Tx range) to avoid the crystallization. However, the compacted samples did not reach the theoretical density. At the 900degC, we could get the full densified specimens, but the crystallization of the samples happened. The relative density increased from 79% to 98% when the pressure increased up to 350 MPa by optimum control of the SPS process parameters. For a conventional PEMFC operation, Pt is loaded uniformly on the whole active area of MEA. In the report, Pt catalyst was coated with a gradient on the active area of MEA. The catalyst amount was reduced gradually from cathode inlet to outlet. When the cell was fully humidified, the performance of gradient catalyst coated MEA was lower than that of the uniform catalyst coated one. However, when the cell was operated under non-humidified condition, the cell performance of the gradient catalyst coated MEA was higher than that of the uniform catalyst coated MEA. This study analyzes the correlation between air concentrations of PM (PM2.5, PM10, TSP (total suspended particulate)) and traffic volume near road sides in the metropolitan city of Ulsan, Korea. 9 road sides or areas selected for the study included a traffic rotary, 2 circulation roads (an industrial road and a car road), 4 downtown roads (including city hall) in Nam-gu, 1 residential area road in Chung-gu, 1 residential and industrial road in Dong-gu, which might represent major traffic density in Ulsan. A beta-ray attenuator and a high volume air sampler were used for sampling of PM during 3 classified time periods (morning, afternoon, evening) in a sampling day. Traffic volume has been counted using a manual counter during each PM sampling. High correlations were identified between PM concentrations and traffic volume [PM2.5 vs (heavy duty vehicles (HDV) + small vehicles (SV)), PM2.5 vs SV, PM10 vs (HDV+SV), PM10 vs SV, and TSP vs (HDV+SV)]. Also, significantly high correlations were obtained between PM concentrations [PM2.5 vs PM10, PM10 vs TSP, PM2.5 vs TSP, afternoon PM2.5 vs evening PM2.5, and afternoon PM10 vs evening PM2.5]. However, the correlations between PM10 and HDV and between TSP and HDV were very weak.
