Detection of signs in input images is based on both color and shape properties. Road guidance signs have specific background color (green, blue or brown) and rectangular shape. First, color segmentation is applied to detect sign candidate regions. Obtained regions are grouping using 8-neighbors method. Then additional filtering by shape properties applied to discard non-rectangular regions. Typically symbols inside road guidance sign can be divided into 3 groups (except \"sign-in-sign\" case): arrow region, text regions with direction descriptions and region with distance to crossroad.. One of crucial moments in recognition of guidance sign is detecting arrow region and understanding of its structure. Typically this region has the biggest area among the symbols in the sign plate. Colors which are used for road signs are highly contrast. It allows extracting symbols from sign background using color information. Two different algorithms were applied to detect arrowheads: genetic algorithm and border tracing algorithm. Deformable model of arrowhead with five deformation parameters was used for genetic algorithm. Initial population was randomly distributed inside arrow region and evolutionary changed in order to achieve maximum matching. Border tracing algorithm is based in detecting corner points on the outer boundary of arrow. All corner points were checked to confirm parameters of arrowhead. The proposed algorithm localize road guidance signs in different weather and lighting conditions in day and night time with probability higher than 92%. Processing speed is high enough to apply this algorithm in time-critical application. In case of border tracing method total processing time for one image was less than 0.08 sec.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128259902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the given report the intervals of long-term and short-term operation are considered for parameters and magnitudes causing the overload and destruction at their increase. The intervals of long-term operation of the indicated magnitudes take place in serviceable conditions and actuate small values of test magnitudes, and the intervals of short-term operation of these parameters are observed in emergency conditions and are characterized by large values. In the report the expressions of overload and destruction risks of the equipment due to change as actual (operational and emergency) and resource or test (long-term and short-term) values. BTEX contamination of soil and groundwater can occur by the accidental spill of gasoline, diesel fuel and leakage from underground storage tanks in pumping stations. Biodegradation is a versatile technique to remediate contaminated soil and groundwater. In the present experimental study, a mixed microbial culture obtained from the effluent treatment plant of a chemical industry was used to degrade liquid phase BTEX, at initial concentrations varying between 15 to 75 mg/l. Experiments were conducted according to the 2k-1 fractional factorial design to identify the main effects of parameters and their influence on biodegradation of individual BTEX compounds in mixtures. A statistical interpretation of the results was done based on their F and P values. Furthermore, the removal efficiency of these compounds varied between 20 to 100% depending on the concentration of other compounds and also on their interaction effects.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"311 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115359733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A key technology in LCDAS depends on how it can exactly detect approaching vehicles in spite of weather and environment change. Lspecially, it's not proper to apply same image analysis algorithm against environment change such as day/night/rainy weather because camera image is very sensitive to illumination condition and weather condition. Therefore it is very important to choose each mode according to vehicle's signals for improving the performance. In this paper, we propose an adaptive LCDAS against weather and environment change. For this purpose, we divide each mode and vehicle signal (wiper, headlamp and vehicle speed sensor) is used as an input and the right/left turn signal is used to choose left/right camera image. The experiments show that the LCDAS can be utilized as a device which assists safety driving by detecting rear side vehicles under weather and environmental change.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129105641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
