By controlling the oil pressure of the transmission, the engine can be safely controlled and the power is not transmitted into wheels on the condition of the sudden start. The TCU (transmission control unit) can control the oil pressure with several solenoid valves to shift gears. The control of hydraulic pressure gives several advantages. It puts out gear and keeps an engine at idle when unintended sudden acceleration is occurred. If the engine is turned off on driving by the sudden start, the brake system is stopped and a driver runs into danger. The sudden start is generally occurred within a short time. If the transmission is controlled at that time, the driver and the car are safe. This paper proves that the system of preventing the sudden start is one of the safest systems and is easily applicable to a vehicle. The main algorithm of the developed system is small enough to be embedded into the ECU (electric control unit) of a vehicle.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123495030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A computational algorithm is constructed on the basis of the vortex-lattice method. For regimes of self-induced vibrations, the calculation results agree well with experimental data. The nature of the damping function and specific features of its formation during the first vibration cycle are discussed. The excitation mechanism of self-induced vibrations is considered on the basis of wing vortex structure analysis. The effect of the nondimensional frequency and wing moment of inertia on the amplitude of self-induced vibrations is studied.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125353872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using the PWM method progressed in the propulsion control system for electric railway vehicles, the harmonics of output have been reduced. This led to the proposal of a PWM method with a superior variable speed control. This method combined the SVM (space vector modulation) over modulation method and the low frequency synchronous PWM method to form the operating switching frequency of under 500 Hz. Also, This paper presents a new vector control for induction motor drives in a one-pulse PWM mode of inverter. For traction drives the inverter usually operates in this mode in a high speed region. The amplitude of voltage is restricted constant in this mode. The conventional vector control is not applicable as it requires controllability of the amplitude and the phase of the voltage vector for all time. The proposed scheme provides quick torque response even in the one-pulse mode. To verify the validity of the proposed control method, experiment was carried out using a 1.65 MVA class railway vehicle propulsion control systems with a 3300 V/1200 A IGBT, the inertial load with an equivalent modelling of railway vehicles 80 tons and readhesion running test at field.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116976401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But it also makes edges of objects blurred. To overcome the defect, this thesis proposes the modified error diffusion halftoning algorithm to enhance the edges using the spatial perceptual properties of the human visual system. Using the properties that the human eyes perceive not the pixel's luminance itself but the local average luminance and that information that human eyes perceive spatial variation, the proposed method computes information of edge enhancement (IEE). The IEE is added to the quantizer's input pixel and feeds into the halftoning quantizer. The quantizer produces the halftone image having the enhanced edge. Also this thesis proposes the technique that the coefficients of the error diffusion filter are adapted according to the correlation among color components. The computer simulation results show that the proposed method produces finer halftoning images than conventional methods due to the enhanced edges. And the proposed method also preserves similar in edges to original image and reduces some defects such as color impulse and false contours.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121349285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conventional Mc modem can generate some side effects such as allocating Walsh codes, which motivates the researchers to propose a novel Mc modem method with sub-code. But this proposed system should expand the size of sub-code to provide high-rate data transmission, which also affect adversely the performance of the system with high PAPR (peak to average power ratio). Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel pre-coded multi-dimensional HCOC (high capacity orthogonal code) Mc modem technique to reduce the high PAPR, which enables the performance improvement. This proposed system can be easily designed by concatenating HCOC Mc modem with the generic Mc modem. The pre-coding technique that is used in this paper is called CAC (constant amplitude coding) helps the system maintain the constant transmission power and reduce the maximum transmission power.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116853041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, because of some disadvantages, switched Ethernet requires some mechanisms for supporting real-time communication, which is the most important challenge in industrial communication. This paper suggests and proves the schedulability condition for hard real-time periodic messages on a switched Ethernet that are scheduled under EDF-based scheduling algorithm without any modification of original switches, thus they can be applied directly to industrial communication. The switched Ethernet operates based on the master-slaves principles and the synchronized model, and the transmission of real-time periodic messages will be handled by master node to fulfil their hard real-time requirements.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129449270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Detecting the line segments and grouping them make a mesh of parallelograms. The belongings of face as principal component parts (PCPs) as doors, windows, walls are detected by merging neighborhood of parallelograms with similar color. We use MSAC to group such line segments which have a common vanishing point. We calculate one dominant vanishing point for vertical direction and maximally five dominant vanishing points for horizontal direction. The vertical group and one of horizontal groups create a mesh of basic parallelograms. Each mesh represents one face of building. Each face contains windows, doors and the wall. The PCPs are separated into two groups according to their properties. The first one is represented by windows and doors. This group caries geometrical information of building such as how many windows and doors there are. So the robot can measure that how tall and wide the building is. The second one is wall region containing an important visual information such as what color of building is. This information can help the robot to distinguish a building from others. The proposed approach can apply to building detection, recognition and reconstruction.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129731901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main idea of this method is to build a texton vocabulary and then use it to build a texton histogram for each image. The histogram is used to measure a similarity between images. Since the textons are centers of clusters in a high dimensional space built from a training image set, we need some instrument for the feature space analysis. As a clustering algorithm the adaptive mean shift algorithm was chosen. In our paper we assume that textures are 3D materials. This means that under different viewpoints and photographic conditions 3D textures can change their appearance significantly and thus can have quite different histograms. In this paper we propose a method which uses edge images instead of original for constructing textons vocabulary and texton histogram. Insignificant details and noise could also be reduced. The performance based on original images and edge images are compared and results are presented.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126182401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This tool is some functional abstraction and cycle accurate timing model of target DSP. The CBS can show the data about the internal registers, status flags, data bus, address bus, input and output pin of the DSP, and also the control signals at each pipeline cycle. The design procedure has been carried out by the following procedure, analysis of target DSP specification, implementation of function block, design of pipeline, design of instruction decoder, and implementation of the instructions. We model the DSP with high level language C++ before the hardware design gets started with HDL to investigate the performance of the DSP. We verified the CBS by running all instructions of DSP and two application programs. The CBS will be used as a reference of logic simulation of the DSP and in RTL model verification under co-simulation environment.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132026249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, a study on the characteristics of heavy metals in road dust was carried out in the Metropolitan City of Ulsan of Korea. Road dust was obtained from a downtown area, Seongnamdong, Chung-gu, Ulsan. The road dust was collected inside the filter attached in the vacuum cleaner in March, 2006. The road dust was separated into four size-fractions by using the sieves as follows: 2000 mum, 850 mum, 180 mum and 75 mum. The heavy metals in road dust sample were extracted by aqua regia extraction method (HNO3:HCl = 1:3). The concentrations of heavy metal were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrometry. The mean values in the road dust with 850 2000 mum, 180 - 850 mum, 75 - 180 mum, and < 75 mum size for Cd were 0.30, 0.46, 1.04, and 2.27 mug g-1 , respectively; for Cu were 264.65, 139.10, 235.50, and 345.10 mug g-1, respectively; for Pb were 51.80, 57.00, 118.40, and 223.26 mug g-1, respectively; for Zn were 258.00, 430.05, 751.55, and 1270.85 mug g-1, respectively; for Ni were 13.20, 24.76, 36.86, and 52.15 mug g-1, respectively. The results indicate that the road dust in the study area has elevated concentrations of Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, and Ni and the concentrations of heavy metals increased with the decrease of particle size. Road dust sample was also analyzed for the mobility of metals by sequential extraction methods including a modified BCR procedure and Tessier procedure. The results show that Cd was mainly in the exchangeable and carbonate phases, Ni was mainly in the exchangeable phase, Pb and Zn were associated with the carbonate fraction. However, Cu may not be associated with the exchangeable and carbonate fractions. In general, the mobility of heavy metals in the road dust might be Cd>Ni>Zn=Pb>Cu.","PeriodicalId":103784,"journal":{"name":"2006 International Forum on Strategic Technology","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122413666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
