This article discussed the procedures, contents and considerations of site visit based on the analysis of numerous site visits cases conducted. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Results \u0000Site visit is one of the crucial procedures to more comprehensive, in-depth and truly understanding of the implementation of clinical trials. It is helpful to help sponsors/investigators enhance awareness and compliance with the good clinical practice. The subject classification system is unique. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Conclusions \u0000The positive roles of ESI in medical related discipline research of universities includes promoting the impact of articles, promoting international cooperation of medical related disciplines in universities, and paying attention to the papers of non-first and corresponding authors. About 50% of the authors were from Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu and Guangdong province, which mainly distributed in major research institutes nationwide. During the year 2014 to 2016, there were about 110 highly cited papers per year. Cancer research was the main concern to scientists all over the world. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Conclusions \u0000The clinical research in China is still at an unbalanced and uncoordinated level of development.
