{"title":"[Changes in alcohol consumption among Chinese adults from 2002 to 2015].","authors":"Xiaoli Xu, Huijun Wang, Hongyun Fang, Qiya Guo, Shujuan Li, Wenwen Du, Lahong Ju, Xue Cheng, Weiyi Gong, Xiaoqi Wei, Jiguo Zhang","doi":"10.19813/j.cnki.weishengyanjiu.2025.02.005","DOIUrl":"10.19813/j.cnki.weishengyanjiu.2025.02.005","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To analyze the trend of changes in alcohol consumption among Chinese adults aged 18 and above.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Based on the data from three rounds of China Nutrition and Health Surveys in 2002, 2012 and 2015 years, we selected adults aged 18 and above with complete alcohol consumption survey data as the survey subjects.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>From 2002 to 2015, the alcohol consumption rate among Chinese adults aged 18 and above showed a year-by-year increasing trend, reaching 28.9% in 2012 and 42.9% in 2015. The alcohol consumption rate among males is higher than that among females, and there is not much difference between urban and rural areas. The alcohol intake of drinkers showed a downward trend year by year. The median alcohol intake decreased from 12.9 g/d in 2002 to 5.7 g/d in 2015, which was more obvious in men than in women. The rate of excessive alcohol consumption among drinkers has shown a decreasing trend year by year, from 45.4% in 2002 to 35.5% in 2015. The decline is more pronounced in males than females, and it was more obvious in urban areas than in rural areas. Compared to other age groups, the 30-39 age group showed the greatest decrease in excessive alcohol consumption rates among drinkers. Chinese adult drinkers drink the most types of high degree wine and beer. As for the most favorite type of drinking, men drink the most high degree wine, while women drink the most beer. {"title":"[Influencing factors on urinary chromium levels of occupational population].","authors":"Xue Li, Yiwen Dong, Xin Wang, Ning Kang, Liangying Mei, Tingting Wei, Xia Li, Zushu Qian, Meng Ye","doi":"10.19813/j.cnki.weishengyanjiu.2025.02.012","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.19813/j.cnki.weishengyanjiu.2025.02.012","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To investigate the possible factors affecting the total urinary chromium levels on a group of hexavalent chromium(Cr(Ⅵ)) occupational population in a chromate production factory, which will provide the scientific basis for workers&apos; health promotion and self-protection.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>In May 2021, a cross-sectional study was conducted in a chromate production enterprise, in that, the demographic information, occupational history, past disease history as well as life style concerning the Cr(Ⅵ) exposed group(n=651) which cover the roasting, manufacturing, refining, chromic anhydride, power and overhauling sectors and the control group(n=74) which are all from functional department were collected through a questionnaire survey, the ambient Cr(Ⅵ) exposure levels either catched from a short-time detection pattern(C_(STE)) at certain work places or sampled from a series of typical posts throughout the main processes by aiming at the time-weight average exposure levels(C_(TWA)) for 8 h. The pre-shift urinary samples(5-10 mL) of all participants were collected and the total Cr(Ⅵ) levels were determined by the graphite atomic absorption spectroscopy method. Kruskal-Wallis test was used to analyze the concentration of hexavalent chromium in air and urine in different workshops. The possible factors who influencing the total Cr(Ⅵ) levels were analyzed by the multiple linear regression.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>There were 448 males and 203 females in the exposed group, with an average age of 44.25 and 43.39 years old, respectively, and an average length of service of 8.61 and 9.14 years, respectively. There were 32 males and 42 females in the control group, with an average of 37.22 and 35.5 years old, respectively, and an average length of service of 6.88 and 7.5 years, respectively. The urinary chromium level in the exposed group(M(P25, P75)) was 3.05(1.09, 8.70) μmol/mol creatinine, with 8 individuals exceeding the biological exposure limit in urine(1.2%), while the urinary chromium level in the control group was all less than 0.22 μmol/mol creatinine. Age(F=65.82, P&lt;0.01), gender(χ~2=19.97, P&lt;0.01), working-age(F=5.55, P&lt;0.05), smoking(χ~2=5.58, P=0.02) and weekly cumulative working hours(χ~2=100.77, P&lt;0.01) were statistically significant at different urinary chromium levels. the C_(TWA )of the 6 chromium-contacting job positions met the occupational exposure limit(PC-TWA 0.05 mg/m~3), but the air chromium concentration(0.010 mg/m~3) and urinary chromium(18.60(7.07, 27.41)μmol/mol creatinine) in the chromic anhydride section were significantly different from those in other sections(P&lt;0.01). After informed consent, basic information, physical status, dietary status, and nutritional and biochemical indicators were obtained. Composition ratios were used to describe the sample composition between subgroups, chi-square test was used to compare the differences in MS prevalence between the subgroups of each factor, and multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the association between each factor and MS.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>A total of 596 valid subjects were included in this study, including 249 males(41.8%) and 347 females(58.2%). The total prevalence of MS was 72.5%(n=432), and the number of the subjects with 3 MS components was 226(37.9%). In addition, the composition ratio of total subjects with all the MS components was 9.1%(n=54). The composition ratios of excessive intake of livestock meat, oil, salt were 63.3%(n=377), 18.0%(n=107) and 22.2%(n=132), respectively. In total subjects, after adjusted by age, education levels, family annual income, BMI, family history of hypertension and diabetes, and smoking, the positive correlations between MS and milk and eggs intake were detected. Comparing the subjects with insufficient intake, the OR of excessive/sufficient intake subjects were 3.990(95%CI 1.718-9.267) and 4.556(95%CI 1.770-11.727), respectively. A total of 185 491 children and adolescents aged 6-17 were included. Complex weighting method were used to adjust body mass index, waist circumference, obesity rate, and high waist circumference rate. The distribution curves and percentile variation curves of body mass index and waist circumference for Chinese children and adolescents aged 6-17 in different years by gender were drawn. The trends of the prevalence of different types of obesity based on the occurrence of body mass index obesity and high waist circumference obesity were described.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>From 1982 to 2016, the overall distribution curves of body mass index and waist circumference for children and adolescents aged 6-17 in China showed a peak decrease, a trend of rightward shift, and an accelerating increase over time. The average body mass index of boys and girls increased by 1.80 and 1.23 respectively over the decades, and the average waist circumference increased by 1.40 cm and 1.05 cm respectively from 2012 to 2016. The body mass index and waist circumference levels of boys in all age groups were generally higher than those of girls. The higher increase of body mass index and waist circumference were both observed among boys and girls with higher values than those with lower values. The main type of obesity among children and adolescents in China was high waist circumference obesity, and there were population differences in the ratios of different types of obesity. The main type of obesity in boys and children aged 7-11 was a mixture of body mass index obesity and high waist circumference obesity. The main type of obesity among girls and adolescents aged 12-17 was high waist circumference obesity alone, but the proportion of mixed obesity increased year by year. The exogenous components contained in the sample were extracted by the air flow under acidic conditions and oxidized into sulfuric acid before being analyzed using the ion chromatography. The exogenous sulfur dioxide content in the mushroom sample was thus illustrated by measuring the sulfate concentration in the absorption solution using ion chromatography coupled with Metrosup A Supp 5-150(4 mm×150 mm) anion chromatography column.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>When using 0.5 mol/L hydrochloric acid to react with the sample during gas-liquid separation for 10 minutes at an air flow rate of 0.1 L/min, and using 1.0% hydrogen peroxide as the absorbing solution, the linear relationship of sulfur dioxide concentration was good in the range of 0.605 mg/L to 30.2 mg/L, r=0.9993. The limit of detection of this method was 0.176 mg/L, and the limit of quantification was 0.528 mg/L. Low, medium, and high concentration levels of spiked recovery were performed on lilium brownii and dried shiitake mushrooms. The recovery rate of dried lilies ranged from 89.0% to 97.4%, with a relative standard deviation of 2.79% to 3.23%. The recovery rate of dried shiitake mushrooms was 90.4% to 97.5%, with a relative standard deviation of 2.53% to 3.16%(n=6).</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>This pretreatment method can effectively eliminate the influence of endogenous substances carried by Shiitake mushroom and other foods and interfering substances in other foods on the measurement result. The levels of Fe~(2+), lipid peroxides in the cells was detected by fluorescent probe. The occurrence of ferroptosis was assessed by Hoechst/PI staining. The protein expression of glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4), recombinant solute carrier family 7, member 11(SLC7A11), prostaglandin-endoperoxidesynthase 2(ptgs2)and acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family 4(ACSL4)were detected by Western blot. Nuclear translocation of Nrf2 and GPX4 expression and were detected by immunofluorescence staining.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Compared with the Control group, the EtOH group showed a significant increase in Fe~(2+)(P&lt;0.05), intracellular lipid peroxides and ferroptosis in HepG2 cells(P&lt;0.05). In addition, EtOH treatment decreased the protein expression of GPX4 and SLC7A11 and increased the protein expression of ACSL4 and ptgs2(P&lt;0.05). GYE treatment significantly mitigated EtOH-induced Fe~(2+) accumulation and overproduction of lipid peroxides(P&lt;0.05). Also, GYE treatment significantly inhibited EtOH-induced ferroptosis of HepG2 cells(P&lt;0.05), and the inhibition effect was better in the high-dose GYE group. Smartphone Addiction Scale and the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire were used for the survey. Descriptive statistical analyses, Pearson&apos;s chi-squared test analysis and binary logistic regression analyses were conducted for the statistical analysis of the research.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The overall detection rate of smartphone addiction among students in secondary vocational schools in Shanghai was 70.45%(3450 students), with 66.61%(1993 students) of boys and 76.5%(1457 students) of girls showing addiction, indicating a statistically significant difference between genders(χ~2=54.14, P&lt;0.01). The detection rates of smartphone addiction among first, second, and third-year students were 68.92%(1100 students), 71.78%(1160 students), and 70.62%(1190 students) respectively, with no statistically significant difference among different grades(χ~2=3.32, P=0.19). The detection rate of smartphone addiction was 69.21%(2117 students) among only children and 72.52%(1333 students) among non-only children, showing a statistically significant difference(χ~2=6.29, P=0.01). The detection rate of musculoskeletal disorders was 37.96%(1859 students), with 35.20%(1053 students) of boys and 42.30%(806 students) of girls affected, indicating a statistically significant difference between genders(χ~2=25.03, P&lt;0.01). Regarding the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders by body part, the top three were: neck(23.52%, 1152 students), lower back(19.54%, 957 students), and shoulder(16.50%, 808 students), with statistically significant differences between genders(χ~2=8.77, P&lt;0.01; χ~2=46.24, P&lt;0.01; χ~2=36.48, P&lt;0.01). The mobile phone addiction tendency score had a significant impact on five types of musculoskeletal disorders: neck pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain, wrist pain and elbow pain. The median time spent reading paper materials decreased from 30 minutes to 20 minutes. Conversely, the median time spent using recreational electronic screens increased significantly, from 60.0 minutes to 77.1 minutes. The proportion of children and adolescents in educational institutions who exceeded the recommended threshold for electronic screen time exhibited a notable increase, rising from 44.0% in 2002 to 59.8% in 2016. With regard to recreational electronic screen use, television was the dominant device in 2002, accounting for 94.2% of all screen time. By 2016, television, cell phones, and computers/tablet computers accounted for 47.8%, 33.5%, and 12.0%, respectively, of the total time spent on electronic devices. The proportion of time spent watching television by children and adolescents demonstrated a downward trend with age, while the proportion of time spent on other electronic products exhibited an upward trend, with a particularly pronounced increase in the use of cell phones by high school students aged 15-17 and children and adolescents in rural areas.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Between 2002 and 2016, the amateur static behavior patterns of Chinese schoolchildren and adolescents aged 6-17 years underwent large changes. {"title":"[GATA4/MYOM2 axis mediates the protective effect of folic acid on sodium arsenite-exposed cardiomyocytes and mouse embryonic heart development].","authors":"Lingzi Zhuang, Mengying Gao, Lingli Wang, Yuxin Feng, Xiaoyan Pan, Xiaohong Wang","doi":"10.19813/j.cnki.weishengyanjiu.2025.02.016","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.19813/j.cnki.weishengyanjiu.2025.02.016","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To explore the role of folic acid in regulating GATA4/MYOM2 axis in sodium arsenite-induced rat embryonic heart malformation and cardiomyocyte differentiation and maturation by bioinformatics analysis and in vivo and in vitro experiments.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>R language was used to screen differentially expressed genes between wild type and GATA4-G296S mutant groups at different time points of hiPSC differentiation into cardiomyocytes in GSE85623, and explore the biological functions of key genes. Animal experiments were performed to observe the effects of 75 mg/L sodium arsenite and 10.6 mg/kg folic acid on fetal rat heart development, and the expression of GATA4 and MYOM2 in fetal rat myocardium was evaluated by immunohistochemistry. Western blot and real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR were used to detect the effects of folic acid and sodium arsenite on the mRNA and protein expression of GATA4 and MYOM2 in hiPSC cells. A GATA4 stable overexpression hiPSC cell line was constructed, then the GATA4 overexpression group and the control group were treated with sodium arsenite, and the protein expression of MYOM2 was detected by Western blot.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes(KEGG)analysis showed that differential genes were enriched in PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, ECM receptor interaction pathway, and genes related to dilated cardiomyopathy. Gene ontology(GO)analysis showed that differential genes were enriched in biological processes such as integrin binding, extracellular matrix structural components, and actin binding, and were related to molecular functions such as extracellular structure organization, extracellular matrix organization, muscle contraction, and muscle tissue development, and were mainly enriched in cell components such as synaptic membrane and myotome. The incidence of fetal cardiac malformation in the sodium arsenite exposure group was significantly higher than that in the control group and the folic acid treatment group, and the protein expression of GATA4 and MYOM2 in the myocardial tissue was significantly lower than that in the control group and the folic acid treatment group(P&lt;0.05). After sodium arsenite treatment, the mRNA and protein expression levels of GATA4 and MYOM2 in hiPSC cells were significantly reduced compared with the control group, and their expression levels could be restored after folate treatment, and with the increase of folate concentration, their expression levels gradually increased, with statistically significant differences between groups(P&lt;0.05).
