We give an algebro-geometric interpretation of this result in spectrally derived algebraic geometry and apply the result to calculate 2-primary Gross-Hopkins duality at height 1. We specialise our formula to connective K-theory providing a geometric interpretation to the double β-polynomials of Fomin and Kirillov by computing the fundamental classes of Schubert varieties. In particular, using results of Rosenberg and Schochet, we construct a map from this geometric model to its analytic counterpart. Moreover, we show that this map is an isomorphism in the case of a finite CW-complex. The relationship between this map and the Freed-Melrose index theorem is also discussed. The details are given for fields F which are Galois over ℚ with Galois group the group ℤ/2 × ℤ/2, the dihedral group D 2 p ; p an odd prime, or the alternating group A 4 .
