Witte in the context of the study of the Far Eastern policy of the Russian Empire and contradictions between Russia and Japan, which had been growing only to cause the war of 1904-1905. S.Yu. Witte was a member of the political elite of Russia in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries and, as Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers, he was involved in critical decisions on domestic and foreign policy matters. Witte's memoirs reflected his meetings with the Russian and German emperors, Japanese and Chinese statesmen, members of the imperial family, and ministers for the Russian Far East. This information is of great value, containing numerous details, lengthy descriptions and personal observations related to the penetration of Russia into China and the acquisition of new bases for the Pacific Navy. The reverse side of the memoirs is their subjectivity and the author's desire in a special way to emphasise his own historical correctness, despite the erroneous opinions and short-sightedness of Emperor Nicholas II and his ministers. S.Yu. Witte repeatedly reproached the political elite for inconsistency in actions, unwillingness to comply with the obligations assumed, and underestimation of the enemy. All these miscalculations had catastrophic consequences in the form of Russia's defeat by the Japanese and the attempted Revolution of 1905-1907.","PeriodicalId":498361,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Kostromskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta imeni N.A. A special role in it is played by the events of the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. Despite the existing rather serious historiography of the issue, the authors, for various reasons, did not focus on ‟traditions and innovations” in the award practice connected with military operations. Briefly reviewing the main medals and decorations issued by the state and public structures of Russia in the country and abroad and the reasons for introducing them, the authors identified the “classic” and “unusual” moments in the promotional field. It can be attributed as quite a usual practice that the attention of the authorities to the heroic events was demonstrated in two ways – directly, immediately after the fact, literally a few months after the incident, and on some ‟anniversary occasions”. In any case, there was a desire “to capture” heroism in premium metal, even despite the outwardly losing situation on the battlefield. The ranking of decorations by degrees was reflected in the value of the material used, and the relatively large coverage of the awarded was customary as well. As for innovations, there were a lot of medals made by Russian public organisations abroad, particularly in France. This has never been done before. It testified to the resonance and significance of the reflected historical fact not only for Russia, but also for other countries.","PeriodicalId":498361,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Kostromskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta imeni N.A. Errors in the use of idioms are due to different reasons and are of a different nature. This is the result of ignorance of their meaning and composition as well as the lack of consideration of the expressive and stylistic properties of idioms, their scope and the appropriateness of their use in a speech context. As a result of the analysis of the card index materials, two predominant types of errors in the use of idioms were identified. Further, a detailed description of the process of phrasal phraseological units the mutation of which, occurs as a result of the wrong aural perception of phraseological units (mondegrееns) is given, the examples of the units which have undergone phonetic transformation in the modern Russian language are given. The term ‟mondegrееn”, its origin and application to the phraseological units are considered. This article touches upon the problem of the impact of the Internet on the mass spread of errors in the use of stable units already existing in the language. Examples of phraseological transformations in terms of form and content that are not erroneous are given. A conclusion about the necessity of preserving the integrity and reproducibility of phraseological units and their significance for the preservation of the lexical-phraseological fund of the Russian language is made.","PeriodicalId":498361,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Kostromskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta imeni N.A. As a result, it has been proven that approaches to the study of Mikhail Sholokhov’s work in China change depending on the nature of Soviet-Chinese relations. In the 1930s-40s, especially during the War of Chinese People’s Resistance against Japanese aggression, there was a noticeable increase in interest in Mikhail Sholokhov’s journalism and prose during the war. In the 1950s, under conditions of all-round cooperation between China and the USSR, the study of Mikhail Sholokhov’s work in China developed rapidly. In the 1960s-70s, in a situation of a sharp deterioration in relations between the two countries, Chinese literary critics criticised the works of Mikhail Sholokhov, however in the 1980s-90s, the researchers especially noted the patriotism, heroism and humanism reflected in the work of Mikhail Sholokhov; a number of conferences on the work of Mikhail Sholokhov were held at the largest universities in China; several monographs on the works of the writer were published. In the early 21st century, Chinese Sholokhov scholars continue the study of Mikhail Sholokhov’s work in the following areas – the spiritual and artistic world of Mikhail Sholokhov, linguistic and cultural features, female images in the works of Mikhail Sholokhov, reception and literary and art criticism of the works of Mikhail Sholokhov in China.","PeriodicalId":498361,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Kostromskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta imeni N.A. By briefly and expressively expressing their thoughts on different aspects, the speakers express various predicates related to these activities. In Russian, paremias that emphasise the importance of a reasonable approach to speech make up a large group. When analysing proverbs with the component “word”, where it most often appears in the meaning of “speech (a fragment of speech, phrase, remark)”, it is possible to identify stereotypical ideas about the importance of the manifestation of seriousness, discretion by the subject of speech, about a positive assessment of balanced, leisurely, thoughtful, concise speech, about the need to follow some rules for communication – such as respectful attitude towards the interlocutor, etc. Using the methods of semantics, language culture, and comparative analysis of 404 Russian paremias and 360 Chinese paremias, we can see universal attitudes that coincide among Russians and Chinese, as well as nationally coloured ideas expressed in paremics of only one of the languages. Russian and Chinese linguocultures reveal a lot of similar attitudes (the importance of the case, when comparing to the word; the impossibility of taking back what was said; the need to be careful when choosing words, etc.). However, the ways of their verbalisation may differ between Russians and Chinese. Chinese proverbs emphasise the importance of paying more attention to interlocutors.","PeriodicalId":498361,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Kostromskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta imeni N.A. This period is featured by numerous experiments diligently conducted by the Soviet government having its aim to set up a new world. Innovations affected, among the other things, the sphere of education and leisure. The reasons resulted in establishing of the children's technical stations network are discussed in this paper. Their activity is analysed having in mind the necessity to introduce young technicians to the heroic forms of socialist creating, one of which included the aviation. Enormous interest in the air force caused an influx of children and adolescents into aircraft modelling clubs. The authors consider the goals, objectives, organisational structure of children's technical stations and circles, evaluate their role in the development of Soviet aviation. The study led authors to the conclusion that children's technical stations and aircraft modelling clubs laid foundations to the technical literacy in general and acted as a “social lift” due to the interrelation of aircraft modelling and gliding sports with the professional pilots’ training system for the Air Force, and the USSR Civil Air Fleet.","PeriodicalId":498361,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Kostromskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta imeni N.A. In this paper, the problem of fictional discourse is considered, since it studies the particles-discourse markers in the composition of sentences-utterances of the discourse of English-, Spanish- and Russian-language works of fiction. Fictional discourse is the embodiment of a verbal message capable of conveying aesthetic, emotional, imaginative, as well as evaluative information, which is combined in the ideological and fictional content of the text. Particles-discourse markers in English, Spanish and Russian are able to focus the attention of the listener/reader (addressee) both on the individual components of the sentence-utterance, and on the entire sentence-utterance as a whole. In English-, Spanish- and Russian-language fictional discourse, these lexical units introduce various shades of additional meanings into the utterance, influencing the meaning of the utterance as a whole, thereby forming the pragmatic effect of the act of communication (discourse). The communicative and pragmatic function of particles-discourse markers in fictional discourse consists in their ability to focus the recipient/reader’s (addressee’s) attention on the subsequent new information in the utterance, to convey to the reader (addressee) the qualifying meanings of the utterance, to bring greater intensity into the utterance, to strengthen one or another meaning of the component (member) of the sentence-utterance they emphasize. Thus, particles-discourse markers enhance the expressiveness of speech and are able to influence the emotional and expressive coloring of the utterance.","PeriodicalId":498361,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Kostromskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta imeni N.A. French newspapers aimed at a general readership were used as the primary materials for the study. The analysis identifies seven types of euphemisms that relate to specific classes and social groups in the population, based on indicators such as social standing, age, race and ethnicity, physical and mental deficiencies, legal problems, and individuals outside stable social structures. Each type of euphemism has its unique characteristics and is presented through lexical units, phrases with and without prepositions, phraseological turns, compound words, telescoped units, descriptive phrases, euphemisms related to age, euphemisms based on the adverb “mal” or phrases containing the words: “maladie” – “disease”, “malade” – “sick”, “mental” – “mental, spiritual, mental” or the adjective “handicap”, terms denoting diseases, and euphemisms united by “sans” meaning “without”. This study expands on existing knowledge of the use of euphemisms in the language of French mass media and their association with specific classes and social groups.","PeriodicalId":498361,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Kostromskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta imeni N.A. The excavation site identified the location of the wooden Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with side chapels, which had first been mentioned in the Scribe’s Book of 1629, as well as the stockade separating the church territory with the necropolis from the Assumption Lane. The stockade, made of stakes dug in close to each other, was revealed literally two meters from the church, and immediately behind it is the wooden pavement of the pre-regular Assumption Lane. A medieval necropolis has been identified between the stockade and the church, on the church territory. Later, in 1783, a stone church of the same name was erected on the site of the wooden church. It is noteworthy that some finds also give an idea of how the funeral rites changed with the adoption of Christianity among the local population.","PeriodicalId":498361,"journal":{"name":"Vestnik Kostromskogo gosudarstvennogo universiteta imeni N.A.
