For teaching Vietnamese to foreigners, teaching idioms is considered a quite difficult category, and one of the basic reasons is that teaching this vocabulary unit has not been given due attention. To help learners master and use idioms fluently in communication activities, thereby understanding Vietnamese most deeply and essentially, the report raises the issue of building an idiom corpus system to Teach Vietnamese to foreigners at intermediate and advanced levels. This is an important and necessary step to help instructors choose idioms appropriate to the cognitive level of foreign learners.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":" 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140686181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

H. Auden’s The Unknown Citizen and Salah Abdel Sabour’s Winter Song. The comparison is accomplished relying on principles of Albert Camus’ Absurdism. It is a comparative study that figures out differences and similarities considering specific perspectives in both poems. The study argues the images of modern man that have been embodied in these two chosen poems. The paper also studies how these poets employ symbolic language to express their sentiments and emotion toward the modern man in present and future; it is an investigation of the life of the modern man which is emptied from all creativity. Lastly, it infers that The individual presented by both poets complains that he/she has been divorced as if he/she is never born or come to the world. Life is filled with an endless suffering, pain, futility, emptiness, and restrictions. Therefore, the question which has been raised by Auden whether the individual is happy and free or not is explained in this paper. In both literary texts, the disappearance of happiness can be observed because happiness is a very part from the concept of freedom. The poets believe that the modern man is not totally free.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":" 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140689699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study used a mixed method. Quantitative data was collected through a questionnaire that provided information about perceptions of the challenges in learning algebra. Qualitative data was collected through semi-interviews with secondary mathematics teachers, which provided an opportunity for teachers to evaluate their understanding of critical thinking skills for algebra, it further clarified teachers’ expectations of mastering the key algebraic contents. Based on the data from the questionnaire and semi-interview, a practical model for embedding critical thinking skills and strategies in learning algebra was designed. The mathematical curriculum in Victoria and Australia were explored as they provided the basis of the model.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":" 33","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140687825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The program has been for quite a long time, almost 13 years. The program features activities such as house renovations and teaching practices, mirroring the real-world learning concept of Work-Integrated Learning (Kuliah Kerja Nyata - KKN) common in universities. A preliminary study identified underutilization of social and community environments as a medium or source of learning. Educators remain confined to conventional teaching settings, transforming the classroom into the sole space for expression and knowledge transmission. While students may experience improvements in information and knowledge, critical aspects like questioning, responding, conveying ideas, collaborating, expressing empathy, and more are often neglected. However, these aspects significantly shape the future roles and existence of students. The research aims to construct a participative learning model based on the Community Environment Introduction Program to enhance social skills. The research methodology employed a research and development approach, utilizing a quasi-experimental design known as The Matching–Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Data collection techniques employed school document analysis, interviews, and social skills tests based on the instrument framework by Ronald E Riggio. The instrument comprised six aspects: emotional expressivity, emotional sensitivity, emotional control, social expressivity, social sensitivity, and social control. Data analysis involved qualitative descriptive analysis, descriptive statistics, and comparative tests. The findings reveal the development of the Participative Learning Model Based on the Community Environment Introduction Program (MP2BP2LM), validated by experts and facilitators, proving its effectiveness in enhancing students' social skills. Hypothesis testing also confirmed a significant improvement in all six social skills competencies: emotional expressivity, sensitivity, and control, as well as social expressivity, sensitivity, and control.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":"138 6‐8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140698478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mathematics has great potential to help students develop their intellectual abilities and qualities, training them to think abstractly and generalize. Furthermore, Mathematics has its roots in practice and is the \"key\" in most human activities, as well as in learning other subjects. In teaching mathematics, teachers not only guide students to acquire knowledge and skills but also train them to think and learn. Therefore, training in abstract thinking and generalization thinking is necessary to help students not only understand and remember math more deeply but also develop problem-solving, logical thinking and judgment skills, thereby helping them develop more comprehensively in the learning process and life.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":"356 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140698027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed formulation of the problem contains: Why does restorative justice need to be used in the settlement of gambling crimes? and What are the stages of restorative justice in the settlement of gambling crimes in the future? This research includes normative legal research, with data collected based on written regulations and opinions from experts and law enforcement. The results of this study indicate that restorative justice can be applied in the crime of gambling even though it is a victimless crime. Parties that can be carried out restorative justice only target gambling players based on Article 303bis of the Criminal Code based on legal expediency and a sense of justice. Therefore, the implementation of restorative justice emphasizes the benefits to both the state and society. The restorative justice mechanism refers to Prosecutor's Regulation Number 15 of 2020 concerning Termination of Prosecution based on Restorative Justice. This regulation regulates all stages of restorative justice for general offenses. For this reason, prosecutors can terminate prosecution in gambling cases based on restorative justice.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":"27 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140695709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is closely followed by the theology of Incarnation, which focuses on God’s entry into human history. The incarnation of the divine word as a human person, with the experience of childhood, underscores the dignity of the child to be preserved and protected. Given the situation of a possible violation, Joseph protected the Child Jesus from the wrath of Herod by fleeing to Egypt for safety (Mt.2:13-15). Every child has pride of place in the family and community, and protecting the dignity of the child is the responsibility of both the parents and the community. The current situation of terrorism in some parts of Northern Nigeria indicates a violation of the dignity of the child. Drawing from the incarnation as a ground for theological discourse on childhood, this chapter presents testimonies of shame and anger in Northern Nigeria to show the violation of the dignity of children. This article employs a historical-analytical methodology to account for the experiences of violence towards children in Northern Nigeria. It begins with a synopsis of the rich value of the child in African culture. It then moves on to presents an overview of the impact of terrorism on children in Northern Nigeria. Finally, the essay proposes recommendations rooted in the humility and dignity of the child for the Catholic church in Nigeria. In this final section, the essay considers education as a paradigm in preserving the dignity of the child. This essay contends that a child is a divine gift that must be protected by the church irrespective of tribe and creed.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":"9 41","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140696139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moonlighting is a phenomenon where people work outside their working hours for another organization, either full-time, contract, or freelance. Working for more than one organization to combat various issues like boredom, additional finance, etc. is becoming common and the new generation of employees is more inclined towards it. Some people pursue hobbies in their free time, while others look for part-time jobs. Especially in the IT industry, employees work in two jobs at the same time due to the remote working model. The idea of working for two organizations is termed moonlighting. This article covers various aspects and impacts of moonlighting in the Indian IT industry including Pre- and Post-Covid situations to IT firms. A survey questionnaire was the main tool used by the researcher to collect the data. 100 respondents over the age of 20 years and above were chosen randomly from IT sectors. Questions on their perception and preference towards moonlighting such as interest, familiarity, engagement, challenges, and impacts were included in the questionnaire. While a significant percentage of respondents were aware of the term moonlighting and the advantages of taking second jobs. Moreover, the study found that there is a positive impact on the respondents who were involved in moonlighting.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":"29 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140694972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Exchange rate variations in oil-producing countries in Africa have been too high resulting in volatilities due to domestic and foreign shocks. High volatility of exchange rate may translate into reduction of trade flows, foreign direct investment, and instability in both interest rates and inflation rates. Several studies on the relationship between economic fundamentals and exchange rates focused more on Africa or country-specific with limited focus on African oil-producing countries using asymmetric cointegration. Therefore, this study examines the relationship between some economic fundamentals and real exchange rates in oil-producing countries in Africa. The dynamics panel non-linear autoregressive distributed lag and linear autoregressive distributed lag were used to investigate the relationship between economic fundamentals and real exchange rate (RER). The NARDL result shows evidence that there exists both short and long-run asymmetric relationship between economic fundamentals and RER. The study recommended that policymakers in these countries pay more attention to their macroeconomic policies to reduce the production and transaction costs of foreign direct investment (FDI).","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":"11 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140696473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
