This article posits that the protagonist and narrator, Rosamund Stacey, embodies an autonomous female figure who challenges societal gender biases prevalent in late 20th-century London, England. Rosamund, functioning as a postmodern narrator, disrupts the conventional patriarchal notions of femininity, which depict women as inferior, fragile, reliant, and passive. By asserting her financial and educational independence, Rosamund strives for self-reliance as a single woman. However, her endeavor to live independently is met with accusations of hysteria, mirroring society’s reluctance to accept empowered women. This paper argues that Rosamund embraces her “hysteric” label, utilizing it to dismantle the patriarchal notion of women as inherently predisposed to madness based on biology. Moreover, it suggests that Rosamund embodies the archetype of the “mad” female author, who narrates her own life and thus claims agency in shaping her narrative.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":"142 46","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140668519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In many social spheres, boys and men are granted dominance over women. This paper aims to fulfill another aspect of CEDAW’s requirements. CEDAW demands that States parties undertake necessary legal and policy measures to ensure women’s equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms. To achieve this goal, CEDAW draws attention to specific fields for State Parties to address. This paper involves conducting surveys to assess the policy measures taken by the Kurdistan Region as key steps toward eliminating violence against women in line with CEDAW requirements. Accordingly, this paper discusses and analyzes questionnaire findings, identifying inadequately addressed issues. It also highlights CEDAW Committee Recommendations, providing further support to the study's findings. The clothing industry is a vast global enterprise that deals with designing, manufacturing, distributing, marketing, retailing, advertising, and promoting all types of apparel for men, women, and children. This includes everything from high-end designer fashion to everyday clothing like sweatpants. The industry is worth billions of dollars and encompasses everything from the most luxurious haute couture to casual wear. The industry has thrived on its own through all the glitz and glamour. However, the blatant yet complex issues and nuances that comprise the industry need to be addressed, and in order for them to be addressed, consumers need to take cognizance of not just the present issues, but the industry in its entirety as well. This research paper delves into the transformation of the fashion industry from the traditional form of haute couture to the emergence of fast fashion. The paper starts by making the reader conscious of the industry and its alarming effects on various aspects of our society. The paper then discusses the rise of fast fashion, characterized by rapid production, mass consumption, and affordability. These diverging paradigms have not only transformed consumer behavior but have also posed legal challenges to frameworks governing intellectual property, labor rights, and environmental sustainability.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":" 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140683871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presence of Constitutional Court Decision Number 20/PUU-XXI/2023 ends the debate and legal uncertainty for justice seekers. In this research, the author used a normative juridical approach. The approaches used were the Law approach, Case Approach, and Conceptual Approach. There are several problem formulations in this research: 1) what is the rationale for the decision of the Constitutional Court Number 20/PUU-XXI/2023?; 2) What are the arrangements for judicial review after the Constitutional Court decision Number 20/PUU-XXI/2023. Research Results of problem formulation number 1). According to the Court's consideration, requests for judicial review in criminal cases are the right of the defendant and his heirs, and the addition of the authority of the prosecutor to carry out judicial review efforts does not provide legal certainty and justice. Previously, the court in 2016 decided on a case regarding judicial review efforts, in which the court considered that the essence of a judicial review is the rights of the defendant and his heirs. 2) After the Constitutional Court Decision Number 20/PUU-XXI/2023, the public prosecutor cannot submit a judicial review effort in a criminal case; legally, when the prosecutor makes a judicial review effort in a criminal case, it is invalid/abash. With the decision of the Constitutional Court number 20/PUU-XXI/2023, it is reaffirmed that only the defendant and his heirs can submit a judicial review effort.","PeriodicalId":492883,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science and human research","volume":" 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140686432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
