However, whether acute stress distinctly affects intentional memory suppression in high trait ruminators, a high at-risk group of stress-related disorders, and the neural correlations, remains unclear.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>55 healthy college students were divided into high and low trait ruminators (HTR and LTR), Following stress manipulation, a Think/No Think task assessed the memory suppression performance. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy was applied to explore the neural correlates. Psychophysiological interaction analyses were used to assess how the functional connectivity between a seed region and another brain region was modulated by tasks during memory suppression, further mediating memory suppression performance and state rumination.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The HTR exhibited poorer memory suppression performance than the LTR under the stress condition. Aberrant activation patterns and task-modulated functional connectivity in the dorsal prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and superior temporal gyrus (STG) were observed only in the HTR during memory suppression under the stress condition. Since face-to-face prevention programs are limited in reach, we developed the online sexual violence prevention program RISE-ON consisting of three modules, namely Gender, Sexual Violence, and Bystander Education. The study's objective is to investigate the short-term effects of the RISE-ON modules on participants’ knowledge and attitudes.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>A total of <em>N</em> = 244 female college students from Delhi aged 17 to 22 were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 groups with two of the three modules. By design, each group functions as a treatment group for the two included modules and as a control group for the third, missing module.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>From pre- to posttest, there were significantly larger increases of participants’ knowledge on gender, sexual violence, and bystander education in the treatment than in the control group. Concerning attitudes, we found significant increases for gender awareness and bystander attitudes across all groups.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>This study demonstrates that the RISE-ON modules are effective in terms of increasing knowledge, but there were no module-specific changes of attitudes. This study aimed to adapt and validate the Spanish Sexual Distress Scale (SDS) in a Colombian sample and provide a percentile ranking score for a comprehensive understanding of sexual distress among the population.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>Five hundred ninety-six people from Colombia (50.08 % women; 49.92 % men) aged 18–60 participated in the study. Exploratory and confirmatory factorial analyses and a convergent validity analysis were performed.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The SDS showed a high internal consistency (Ω = .95, α = .94) and a unidimensional model. Significative correlations were found between the SDS and related measures with sexual functioning, further supporting its convergent validity.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>The SDS is a valid and reliable measure to evaluate SD in Colombians, with implications for clinical practice and sexual health research. Despite research indicating that physical exercise can improve motor control in older individuals the effect of physical exercise on neural connectivity in older adults remains to be elucidated.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>Older adults with experience in table tennis and fit aerobics and individuals without such experience for comparison were recruited for the study. Differences in motor control were assessed using the stop-signal task. The impact of exercise experience on DLPFC-M1 and pre-SMA-M1 neural connectivity was assessed with transcranial magnetic stimulation. Varied time intervals (short and long term) and stimulus intensities (subthreshold and suprathreshold) were used to explore neural connectivity across pathways.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The present study showed that behavioral iexpression of the table tennis group was significantly better than the other two groups;The facilitatory regulation of preSMA-M1 in all groups is negatively correlated with SSRT. Regulatory efficiency was highest in the table tennis group. Here, we investigated the reliability of using TL-BS values to assess attentional bias and the electrophysiology mechanisms undergirding fluctuations in attentional bias among smokers.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>In total, 26 male smokers and 26 male non-smokers performed a dot-probe task in Experiment 1. In Experiment 2, an additional 23 male smokers and 23 male non-smokers performed the same task while undergoing single-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation, which was used to investigate corticospinal excitability.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>It showed that assessing TL-BS parameters for reaction time (RT) was more reliable than calculating the traditional mean attentional bias score; however, this superior reliability was no longer apparent after controlling for general RT variability. There was a significant difference between smokers and non-smokers in TL-BS parameters calculated for both RT and motor-evoked potential (MEP) amplitude. This study aims to examine the association of its dimensions (Affective, Intimacy, Sensory, and Rewards) with the propensity for sexual excitation, rating of sexual arousal, rating of genital sensations, and genital response.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>Sixty-eight young adults (34 males and 34 females) who were sexually active with people of the same sex participated in a laboratory task in which they viewed content-neutral and sexually explicit gay films. Regression models were conducted to explain the dimensions of MMSOE from measures of sexual arousal.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>In males, the rating of sexual arousal explained the Sensory dimension, while the genital response explained the Affective dimension, with sexual arousal as a state gaining more prominence. However, its psychometric properties and measurement invariance across cultural, gender and sexual subgroups have not yet been examined. This multinational study aimed to validate the SDS-3 and test its psychometric properties, including measurement invariance across language, country, gender identity, and sexual orientation groups.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>We used global survey data from 82,243 individuals (Mean <sub>age</sub>=32.39 years; 40.3 % men, 57.0 % women, 2.8 % non-binary, and 0.6 % other genders) participating in the International Sexual Survey (ISS; <span>https://internationalsexsurvey.org/</span><svg><path></path></svg>) across 42 countries and 26 languages. Participants completed the SDS-3, as well as questions regarding sociodemographic characteristics, including gender identity and sexual orientation.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) supported a unidimensional factor structure for the SDS-3, and multi-group CFA (MGCFA) suggested that this factor structure was invariant across countries, languages, gender identities, and sexual orientations. Cronbach's <em>α</em> for the unidimensional score was 0.83 (range between 0.76 and 0.89), and McDonald's <em>ω</em> was 0.84 (range between 0.76 and 0.90). Longitudinal studies examining the dyadic associations between maternal and paternal factors in middle adulthood for predicting sexual satisfaction in later adulthood are scarce.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>The German longitudinal intervention study \"Future Family” followed families with at least one child over 18-years (Pre: <em>N</em> = 477, mothers: <em>M</em> = 35.2 years, fathers: <em>M</em> = 38.8 years, children: <em>M</em> = 4.1 years). At the time of the 18-year follow-up, <em>N</em> = 150 mothers (<em>M</em> = 54.1 years) were still living together with the biological fathers (<em>M</em> = 56.1 years; mean relationship duration: 32 years). Dyadic associations between individual and dyadic factors at Pre were analyzed with Actor-Partner Interdependence models to predict sexual satisfaction 18 years later.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Higher relationship quality was significantly associated with higher levels of one's own sexual satisfaction 18 years later. Higher levels of maternal and paternal mental health problems were linked to lower levels of sexual satisfaction in both the individual themselves and their partner. General life satisfaction of mothers and fathers only predicted their own sexual satisfaction. {"title":"A qualitative metasummary of detransition experiences with recommendations for psychological support","authors":"Pablo Expósito-Campos , José Ignacio Pérez-Fernández , Karmele Salaberria","doi":"10.1016/j.ijchp.2024.100467","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijchp.2024.100467","url":null,"abstract":"<div><h3>Objective</h3><p>The main goal of this article is to identify areas of psychotherapeutic work with detransitioners, that is, individuals who stop or reverse a gender transition, given the scarcity of information and resources.</p></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><p>We conducted a systematic review and metasummary of qualitative data published until April 2023. Data were extracted, grouped, and refined to conform meta-findings.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The database search yielded 845 records, of which 15 comprising 2689 people who detransitioned were included in the review. A total of 582 findings were extracted, resulting in 34 meta-findings with frequencies ≥ 15 %. Two main thematic areas with several subthemes were identified. The theme “Gender transition” included “Perspectives” and “Emotions.” The theme “Gender detransition” included “Driving factors,” “Challenges” (a. Social and emotional difficulties, b. Lack of support and understanding, c. Negative healthcare experiences, d. Detransphobia, and e. Identity concerns), “Needs,” “Growth and evolution,” and “Identity and future.” Based on these meta-findings, we advance broad recommendations for supporting detransitioners in their various emotional, social, and identity needs.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>Detransitioners are diverse in their experiences and perspectives and face significant challenges.
