In addition, group work offers many advantages and according to the Tuckman Model, during group work, participants will go through four stages; forming, storming, norming, and performing. This study aims to investigate the influence that all these four stages have on group work, as well as the relationship that exist between the stages. The quantitative approach was adopted. Purposive sampling method was selected. A questionnaire consisting of 29 items was distributed online to 200 undergraduate students of Universiti Teknologi Mara, Shah Alam, Malaysia. The questionnaire contains four sections, and these sections aim to elicit respondents’ experience while going through the four stages in Tuckman Model. This study found that all stages do influence students group work experience positively. Additionally, it is also found that there is moderate positive relationship between the stages forming and norming as well as between forming and performing. {"title":"Malay Literacy Education: Curriculum Content and Student Motivation in Reading","authors":"","doi":"10.55057/ijares.2023.5.3.14","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.55057/ijares.2023.5.3.14","url":null,"abstract":"This study explores the content of the reading skills curriculum in Malay literacy education and identifies students' reading motivation in Brunei Darussalam. A qualitative approach is used in the study by analyzing the content of reading skills in curriculum documents and the Malay language syllabus from Year 1 to Year 11. In addition, the study also uses a quantitative approach to descriptively identify students' reading motivation in one of the boys' secondary schools in the Brunei and Muara District. This research involved 180 students in Years 7, 8, and 9. The results of the study showed that the reading skills emphasized in the curriculum are reading aloud skills for students in primary school and comprehension skills for students in primary school to the secondary school level. The students' motivation shows the category of the concept of appreciating what is read, chosen by the majority of the students is item 8, which is ‘people who read are interesting people’ (mean 3.41), and item 20, which is students are happy if they are given a book as a gift (mean 3.41). Next, in the category of students' self-concept as readers, students think reading is an easy activity (mean 3.63). Nevertheless, they sometimes worry about their friends' impressions of those interested in reading (mean 2.13). Lastly, the category of reading activities at home showed a low mean score of 2.92 and a standard deviation of .682. Para pelajar yang terlibat dalam kajian ini memberikan respon melalui dua instrumen kajian iaitu instrumen Participation Motivation Inventory (PMI) dan instrumen Career Decision-making Self-Efficacy Scale- Short Form (CDMSE-SF). Analisis deskriptif menunjukkan ke dua-dua konstruk motivasi dalam kalangan sampel kajian iaitu motivasi intrinsik dan motivasi ekstrinsik berada pada skala intreprasi tinggi, di mana nilai min serta nilai sisihan piawai bagi setiap konstruk adalah (Min = 3.39, SP = 0.46) bagi motivasi intrinsik, manakala (Min = 3.33, SP = 0.53) bagi motivasi ekstrinsik. Analisis inferensi melalui ujian kolerasi mempamerkan pembuktian hubungan secara statistik yang signifikan di antara dimensi motivasi dengan dimensi efikasi kendiri pemilihan kerjaya (r =0.551, p = 0.00 pada nilai signifikan p<0.01). Kajian eksperimen jenis satu kumpulan ini melibatkan seramai 5 orang murid prasekolah yang berumur 6 tahun di sebuah sekolah di Melaka. Pengumpulan dan analisis data menggunakan kaedah kajian gabungan (mixed mode) kerana kaedah ini yang paling sesuai digunakan untuk melihat kewujudan sebab dan akibat sesuatu hubungan dalam kajian yang dijalankan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan murid berjaya meningkatkan kepelbagaian ayat selain daripada ayat penyata, iaitu ayat tanya (+9 ayat), ayat perintah (+16 ayat) dan ayat seruan (+8 ayat) setelah didedahkan kepada intervensi main peranan melalui aktiviti bercerita. Secara kesimpulannya, dapatan kajian telah menunjukkan murid prasekolah berkemampuan memainkan peranan mereka dengan lebih baik apabila menggunakan multimedia jenis bercerita berbanding tanpa multimedia. Oleh itu, kajian ini mencadangkan pendekatan bercerita jenis multimedia dapat diperluas penggunaannya mengikut kreativiti dan nilai murni yang ingin diterapkan kepada murid prasekolah. Antara impak ketara yang dijangkakan adalah terhasilnya murid yang boleh berbahasa dengan baik dan diseimbangi dengan nilai murni yang terpuji. Kursus ini merupakan subjek pengkhususan yang perlu diambil oleh pelajar Diploma Kejuruteraan Mekanikal (Pembuatan) pada semester 4. Berdasarkan tinjauan, didapati pelajar kurang menguasai topik ini. Antara penyebabnya adalah adalah kurang pemahaman kerana tidak dapat mengaitkan dengan keadaan yang sebenar dan kurang berminat terhadap topik kejuruteraan terbalik. Maka, pelajar kurang memberi tumpuan dan tidak dapat menyiapkan tugasan yang diberi dengan sempurna. Kajian terhadap keberkesanan penggunaan video pengajaran dan pembelajaran bagi topik kejuruteraan terbalik bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman pelajar, menarik minat dan mempelbagaikan teknik pembelajaran bagi kursus CAD CAM. Kajian yang menggunakan kaedah kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data secara borang soal selidik. Responden terdiri daripada 20 orang pelajar Diploma Kejuruteraan Mekanikal (Pembuatan) di Jabatan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal, Politeknik Seberang Perai. Penggunaan skala Likert bagi menganalisa tahap persetujuan pelajar dengan pengiraan skor min. Purata skor min bagi pengukuran pemahaman pelajar adalah 4.46 iaitu berada pada tahap tinggi. Manakala minat pelajar dan teknik pembelajaran terhadap video interaktif yang dibangunkan juga mendapat skor min yang tinggi iaitu 4.60 dan 4.54. Pembelajaran secara santai dan masa yang fleksibel menjadikan pembelajaran lebih aktif, menggalakkan kebolehcapaian dan memupuk pemahaman yang lebih mendalam. In the development of art and design education, the educators of art colleges should use a step-by-step approach to guide students towards an independent creative path - experiential teaching. Therefore, in this paper, we discuss the conceptualization and standardization of art and design education performance, analyze the diversity of the instructor-student relationship and student-teacher relationship, and student questioning, and explore a new innovative teaching model with a net-like character and democratic nature. It makes a task more meaningful, interactive and beneficial to the participants who participate in this activity and this game can attract the interest and enthusiasm of the players. This study aims to explore gamification research-related publishing patterns and rank the most used author keywords in the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases. The eminent software, ScientoPy and VOSviewer, are used to run and execute relevant publication data retrieved from Scopus and WoS. The results showed a positive trend in the growth of gamification literature in both databases since 2011. The top three research areas that dominate this topic are “computer science”, “education & educational research”, and “engineering”. Based on the country analysis, United States has become an active publisher, followed by Spain and Germany. Importantly, this study emphasised the scholarly communication practices prevalent in gamification research have impressively propagated. The trends will assist researchers in recognising the various fields in identifying the core areas, proactive institutions, and productive authors published in this knowledge for supplementary investigation. Proses pembelajaran dan pengajaran yang berlaku dalam bilik darjah merupakan penentu utama kejayaan masa depan negara Google Scholar yang merangkumi artikel sarjana yang didapati tahun penerbitan dari 2011 hingga 2021. Hasil sorotan ini mendapati dua aspek menjadi tumpuan para pengkaji sarjana iaitu pengajaran dan pembelajaran dan aplikasi dan perisian bantuan pengajaran dalam PSV. Terdapat lapan artikel yang merangkumi dua artikel pengajaran dan pembelajaran dan enam artikel aplikasi dan perisian bantuan pembelajaran. Politeknik dengan matlamat menjayakan bidang tumpuan tersebut telah mewajibkan kursus kokurikulum di dalam silibus pengajian yang diambil oleh pelajar semester 1 dan 2 samada mengikuti sukan atau pun unit beruniform. Namun, kebanyakan pelajar kurang berminat untuk melibatkan diri dalam unit beruniform. Justeru itu, satu kajian telah dijalankan bertujuan untuk mengenalpasti faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi penglibatan pelajar dalam unit beruniform di Politeknik Seberang Perai. Kajian ini berbentuk kuantitatif dengan yang menggunakan soal selidik sebagai instrumen dan diedarkan secara atas talian melalui Google Form. Sampel terdiri daripada 302 orang pelajar Kejuruteraan Elektrik dan Kejuruteraan Mekanikal di Politeknik Seberang Perai. Data yang diperolehi telah dianalisis menggunakan perisian Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) bagi mendapatkan frekuensi dan skor min bagi menganalisa secara statistik deskriptif. Analisa Korelasi Pearson digunakan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara penglibatan pelajar dalam unit beruniform dengan pencapaian akademik pelajar di Politeknik Seberang Perai. Dapatan dari analisis kajian mendapati faktor pembangunan diri merupakan faktor yang dominan yang mempengaruhi penglibatan pelajar dalam unit beruniform dengan julat skor min antara 3.94 hingga 4.13 iaitu pada tahap yang sangat tinggi. Faktor pengurusan dan fasiliti yang mencapai skor min yang paling rendah tetapi dalam tahap sederhana iaitu 3.46 menunjukkan keperluan untuk pihak institusi menambahbaik fasiliti sedia bagi meningkatkan penglibatan pelajar dalam unit beruniform ini.
