A multi-layered moderated-mediation model is developed to explore the effect of interactions between four types of innovations (product, process, marketing, and organizational) on the relationship between knowledge conversion and performance. After checking the measurement properties of the survey instrument using the LISREL package of structural equation modeling (SEM), data collected from 312 employees from the southern part of India were analyzed using Hayes's PROCESS macros. The results indicate that (i) knowledge conversion is positively associated with (a) performance and (b) organizational innovation; (ii) organizational innovation is positively associated with performance; and (iii) organizational structure mediates the relationship between knowledge conversion and performance. The findings also indicate that process innovation (second moderator) positively moderates the relationship between knowledge conversion and product innovation (first moderator) in influencing organizational innovation. The study also found that marketing innovation moderates the relationship between organizational innovation and performance. Thus, the study underscores the importance of knowledge conversion and all four types of innovation in enhancing performance. The managerial implications are discussed.</p>","PeriodicalId":46428,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge and Process Management","volume":"30 4","pages":"409-433"},"PeriodicalIF":3.7,"publicationDate":"2023-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45656468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most CoPs in higher education address teaching and learning for specific subject matter, or professional development focusing on the student or the teacher. In our case study, we developed a CoP around a strategic objective for our institution: addressing the enhancement of the employability of our students. This article presents our investigation of what features are key for an effective and sustainable CoP that facilitates the achievement of a strategic objective in a higher education institution (HEI). We used a case study analysis to identify key ingredients that contribute to establishing an effective and sustainable CoP: (1) installing a core group as catalyst; (2) defining a common language connecting strategy, theory and practice; (3) appointing the facilitator; (4) creating an open atmosphere in and around the community; (5) create close involvement in the CoP with the already-standing organisation to ensure long-lasting and sustainable continuation of a CoP. Next to the evaluation of key features for the CoP, we also reflected on design thinking as integral to facilitating the community's practice.</p>","PeriodicalId":46428,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge and Process Management","volume":"30 2","pages":"216-226"},"PeriodicalIF":3.7,"publicationDate":"2023-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/kpm.1747","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47533571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We used case studies to gather empirical evidence of the phenomenon from an organizational perspective. The study tried to closely link theory and practice by identifying the mechanisms that determined the paths of value creation in 11 companies that had taken concrete steps toward digital transformation. It contributed to knowledge management research by building a research framework according to previous literature and outlining three different value creation paths based on the objectives and motivations of the organizations. The conclusions of the study were that (1) the strategic orientation of transformation must exceed a certain level to constitute an actual value creation mechanism; (2) digital transformation paths are driven by changes in the competitive environment; (3) pressure from customers impacts the value creation mechanism in digital transformation, but depends on the value creation path essence; as well as (4) value creation in digital transformation is determined by the extent to which a company manages to balance the existing business with digital transformation. The results also had managerial implications because they assisted managers in considering the key mechanisms of digital transformation.</p>","PeriodicalId":46428,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge and Process Management","volume":"30 2","pages":"125-136"},"PeriodicalIF":3.7,"publicationDate":"2023-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/kpm.1745","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49065635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study attempts to explain the multidimensionality of and relationships between perceived environmental uncertainty types and knowledge-sharing subprocesses. The presumptive connections between the variables are examined through an empirical study conducted with 224 academics from a large university in the Philippines. The results confirm the multidimensionality of uncertainty induced by the COVID-19 pandemic and indicate that certain types of uncertainty drive knowledge-donating and knowledge-collecting behaviors within a knowledge-intensive organization. To contribute to the theoretical consolidation of Agile BPM, it is necessary to develop a conceptualization for the term, that is, to describe the essential attributes for its understanding. Communicating the meaning of the concept in reduced words occurs through the definition, so the main objective of this study is to develop a scientific definition for Agile BPM. This study was performed in three phases. First, a systematic literature review was conducted to investigate how the scientific literature has addressed Agile BPM. Next, a deductive analysis was performed to conceptualize Agile BPM. In the third phase, a consultation with experts was conducted to refine the conceptual view and critique a tentative definition, preceded by judges' analysis to consolidate the definition. As a result, the concept of Agile BPM was elaborated, and based on the reduction of this conceptualization, a scientific definition was presented which describes that Agile BPM is “the promotion of BPM in which practitioners stimulate change quickly and flexibly in order to meet organizational demands with compliance and provide a better customer experience”. There is a pioneering spirit in the present study regarding the deliberate conceptualization of Agile BPM, which provides the basis for discussion of the topic, and helps scientific dissemination through a definition, contributing to the development of a theory of Agile BPM.</p>","PeriodicalId":46428,"journal":{"name":"Knowledge and Process Management","volume":"30 1","pages":"14-32"},"PeriodicalIF":3.7,"publicationDate":"2023-01-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41790889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, it uses a descriptive approach, based on theoretical insights in order to provide a detailed strategic sourcing process, which adopts a risk-based orientation. Each of the five main steps of the strategic sourcing process that are identified have aspects related to the supply chain resilience that need to be taken into consideration on the sourcing decision-making. The framework that is presented provides relevant insights regarding on how to effectively conduct the strategic sourcing process with the prescription that decision-making needs to be transparent. It is hoped that the constructs presented in this paper encourage researchers to conducting empirical studies in order to obtain evidence related to the strategic sourcing process and its relations with supply chain resilience. The proposed framework of this paper, can also potentially support practitioners involved in the procurement and strategic sourcing activities by providing an effective guidance as to how to appropriately engage in decision-making with respect to strategic sourcing. The social housing sector, which provides long-term housing or subsidies for vulnerable households, struggles to reach a good digitalization level and needs specific solutions that address its technical, financial, and administrative peculiarities. Indeed, the social housing sector often faces issues related to insufficient available funds that can be used for optimizing assets' maintenance operations, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of building occupants with better management of financial resources. Furthermore, it is not a widely explored area by the research community. To provide digital solutions for innovating the management of the property assets and, specifically, the maintenance activities for social housing, the paper presents a case study from the Italian social housing system. Current available processes, data, and information systems are explored to propose a solution for the visualization and management of collected data at the provincial, municipality, and building levels. The main purpose is to support decision makers for maintenance activities. Based on a systematic review and analysis of the extant literature related to KBDC from 1959–2020, we aim to trace significant theories, contexts, characteristics, and methodologies (TCCM) and their inter-relationships to present a holistic view of the KBDCs research. In particular, the study attempts to address the issues inherent in organizing, designing, and executing KBDCs towards the attainment of the firm's strategic and organizational objectives. The study uses a structured methodological approach for conducting a systematic literature review to determine the existing contributions and by proposing the frameworks for future research. By conducting TCCM and bibliometric analysis of the existing KBDCs literature, the study provides comprehensive networks, significant countries, eminent authors, prominent theories, context, characteristics, and methodologies in this field. The analysis, therefore, addresses the managerial concerns over the entire spectrum of knowledge-based entities and bridges the gaps, such as application bias in large organizations, developed nations, and single-level analysis by exploring potential relationships regarding KBDC. Overall, the study provides the logical concept mapping, usage, and taxonomy contributing towards the strengthening of KBDC. In addition, the study also presents areas in which research has made the most progress as well as those in which gaps and unsolved tensions persist. To minimize the wastage of materials in manufacturing entities, use different modern techniques, and one of the modern techniques is lean manufacturing. This study aims to explore the relationship between lean manufacturing and the sustainable performance (SP) of the firm. For this purpose, data were collected from SMEs working in Pakistan. Results elaborate that four lean manufacturing practices, that is, process and equipment, product design, supplier relationship, and customer relationship have a positive and significant impact on SP, but the impact of planning and control and HR practices could not be verified. Moreover, green supply chain management (GSCM) found a mediator between HR practices, product design, supplier relationships, customer relationships, and SP. Outcomes of this study provide the higher management of SMEs with a way forward to implement modern techniques within their organizations to minimize the wastage of material during the manufacturing process.
