However, nowadays, the issue of intolerance is raised in the midst of Indonesian society. The facts are mainly triggered by political interests and due to the decline of multicultural awareness. This issue clearly contradicts to the diversity of Indonesian society which is multi-ethnic and multi-culture. If it is not managed properly, it consequently increases the potential to break the unity and integrity of the nation. Therefore, building the cultural awareness through the values of multicultural education plays a crucial role as an effort to encounter this problem. This study aims to analyze the values of multicultural education reflected in \"Masjid Menara Kudus” and to examine how it plays a role in maintaining the unity of the nation. This research was carried out with a qualitative method approach. Research data were collected by observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Validation of data is done by data triangulation techniques. Data analysis was performed with interpretive descriptive techniques through the process of reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings indicated that the parts of \"Masjid Menara Kudus\" are the result of acculturation between Hindu-Buddhist, Muslim-Arabic, Chinese, and Javanese cultures. Moreover, cultural acculturation at the \"Masjid Menara Kudus\" which reflects the values of multicultural education can be a solution as an effort to increase awareness of diversity for the community, especially in the northern coastal areas of Java.","PeriodicalId":448829,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Science, Education and Technology (ISET 2020)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115755174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most scholars tend to say that teaching is an art meaning that there is artistry in the way lecturers associate with students in order to foster their understanding. However, teaching is also considered to be science since based on certain research, there are some strategies or techniques to be effective in enhancing learning. In this paper, the writer investigated the superiority of the teaching technique whether it is deductive technique or inductive technique for the teaching of academic writing. Two classes of the sixth semester students of the English department of State University of Semarang (Unnes) were taken as samples each of which consisting of 30 students was given different treatment, inductive and deductive technique. The result shows that the t-value of inductive is 1.390 and the t-table is 0.683 and the t-value of deductive is 8.092 and the t-table is 0.683. From the result of the t-test, it shows that the t-value of deductive is higher than the t-value of inductive and compared to the t-table, the t-value of deductive is more significant than it is in inductive strategy. Thus, it can be concluded that deductive technique is more effective than inductive technique applied in the teaching of academic writing. Therefore, it is recommended that in teaching academic writing lecturers may elaborate more in using deductive technique than in using inductive technique. The lecturers may start from giving the concept or rules and explain them in detail then gives the students examples and then ask them to practice by following the rules.","PeriodicalId":448829,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Science, Education and Technology (ISET 2020)","volume":"06 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130451945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
