Watermark information in the form of independent and identically distributed (i.i.d) Gaussian pattern is embedded during image acquisition at low measurement space i.e. CS platform. Diversity technique used in communication receiver is then applied to improve watermark detector performance. Simulation results highlight that at low (watermark) signal-to-noise ratio (WNR/SNR), GLRT based detector offers high probability of detection (PD) while ED performs almost at par with GLRT at high SNR i.e. at high measurement space for a given watermark power. Simulation results also show the improved detector performance compared to the conventional correlator-detector and existing CS based watermarking methods.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130861450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is modeled by image perceptual gradient statistics. As blurring affects especially edges, the proposed idea turns on extract specific statistical features from the perceptual edge map in the wavelet domain using the just noticeable blur concept (JNB). Extracted statistical features are used to robustly classify images as perceptually blurred or sharp using the support vector machines (SVM). The proposed descriptor performance is evaluated in terms of classification accuracy across different datasets. Obtained results revealed high correlation values of the proposed perceptual statistical features against subjective scores.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"1989 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125496502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose several improvements to better relate the output endmember spectra to the physical properties of the input data: firstly, we introduce a regularization term which enforces the closeness of the output endmembers to automatically selected reference spectra. Secondly, we account for these reference spectra and their locations in the initialization matrices. We exemplify our methods on self-acquired HSIs. The first scene is compound of leaves at the macroscopic level. In a controlled environment, we extract the spectra of three pigments. The second scene is acquired froman airplane: we distinguish between vegetation, water, and soil.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115968376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While there is a rich landscape of tools to extract information about fixations and saccades from such data, the analysis at a higher level of abstraction (e.g., comparison of visual scanpaths between subjects) is still performed manually. Especially, the comparison of scanpaths derived from dynamic scenarios, where the observer is in permanent interaction with her environment, is highly challenging. In this work we (i) introduce a new work-flow for automated scanpath comparison in dynamic environments, which combines image processing, object tracking, and sequence comparison algorithms, and (ii) provide a new data set for performance evaluation of scanpath comparison methods that was extracted from eye-tracking data during an interactive tea-cooking task, referring to the experiments by Land et al. [1]. Furthermore, to showcase the applicability of our work-flow, we applied our method to the above data set to find differences in visual behavior between several runs for the tea-cooking task.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"166 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116548010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose modifications of known Spearman and Kendall ROCCs that take into account the fact that MOS for existing databases has been measured with a limited accuracy and is most certainly erroneous (contains “noise component”). For the database TID2013 we have also marked images with practically invisible distortions. This has led to considering criteria for detecting such images. Using a mean square error we also analyze metrics based on alternative norms l1, l3, and l4. Analysis is performed for the database TID2013 and different sensitivity of human vision system (HVS) to distortions in color and intensity is taken into account. One approach to analyze adequateness of metrics for different types of distortions is described and proved exploitable.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"171 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133713803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As eye movements and attention are closely related, modeling eye movements can help us understand, where people attend to. In this study, we conducted an experiment in which participants had to track several moving objects at once while their eye gaze is being measured. We investigated, whether consistency of eye movements was affected by increasing number of objects on the scene during repeated presentations. We employed and extended several top-down models for predicting the eye gaze during such tasks. Results show that the presence of additional objects did not affect the coherence of scan patterns. The model accounting for the crowding effect yielded the best performance. Our results address the question of how the presence of visual clutter affects human eye behavior.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126103135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This approach is guided by a prior anatomical knowledge modeled using a tree structure. This tree aims at representing the natural nested topology of the musculoskeletal anatomy, and is used to hierarchically segment images. At each level of the hierarchy, a standard two-classes classification process is performed using texture-based descriptors and support vector machines (SVM). The classification is refined using topological constraints (connexity and neighborhood) derived from anatomy. We evaluate the performance of our approach by comparing the constrained approach with the original hierarchical algorithm. We achieve an excellent classification(78%) and shows that the use of texture analysis combined with simple topological constraints can improve the segmentation.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"06 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130495422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the design of an appropriate Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system for stereo images is an important emerging issue. In this paper, we propose a novel retrieval method which exploits simultaneously the spatial and cross-view dependencies of the stereo images. Within each subband, the joint distribution of the resulting wavelet coefficients of the two views located at the same spatial position as well as those of the neighboring pixels, is modeled by a multivariate statistical model based on Spherically Invariant Random Vectors (SIRV). The parameters of the SIRV model are selected as relevant signatures of the stereo pair. Experimental results show the benefits which can be drawn from the proposed retrieval approach.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134359394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Retinal images contain valuable information sources for several distinct medical diagnosis tasks, where the features of interest can be e.g. the cotton wool spots in the eye fundus, or the volume of the vessels over concentric circular regions. It is assumed that one of the existent segmentation methods provided the segmentation of the vessels. The proposed compression method transmits losslessly the segmentation image, and then transmits the eye fundus part, or the vessels image, or both, conditional on the vessels segmentation. The independent compression of the two color image segments is performed using a sparse predictive method. Experiments are provided over a database of retinal images containing manual and estimated segmentations. The codelength of encoding the overall image, including the segmentation and the image segments, proves to be better than the codelength for the entire image obtained by JPEG2000 and other publicly available compressors.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133121487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
