DST provides the optimal representation [10] of the image features based on multi-resolution and multi-directional analysis. This property can be exploited on for watermark embedding to achieve the watermarking imperceptibility by introducing the human visual system using Chou's model. In this model, a spatial JND profile is adapted to fit the sub-band structure. The combination of DST and the Just-Noticeable Distortion (JND) profile improves the levels of robustness against certain attacks while minimizing the distortion; by assigning a visibility threshold of distortion to each DST sub-band coefficient in the case of grey scale image watermarking.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121511149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multimedia technologies require new quality metrics and methodologies taking into account the fundamental differences in the human visual perception and the typical distortions of both video and audio modalities. Because of the increase of multimedia content platforms (Streaming, IPTV, OTT, etc) to delivering video content over the open Internet to a variety of devices; from TVs, to tablets, and smart phones, the Quality of Experience (QoE) may change. In this work we propose to evaluate the mutual interaction between audio and video and their influence on the perceived quality in case of streaming video applications. From one side, we carried out subjective experiments for assessing audio-only, video-only and audiovisual quality to create an audiovisual database that contains a wide range of degradations. From another side, a statistical analysis has been performed to investigate the influence of video resolution, viewing device and audio quality on perceived audiovisual quality. The Results show that audio quality plays a crucial role in the judgment of perceived quality especially when its quality is poor.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122730017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is used to help the doctors to improve and speed up the diagnosis process. In particular, computed tomography scanners (CT-Scanner) are used to create cross-sectional medical 3D images of bones. In this paper, we propose a method for CT-Scanner identification based on the sensor noise analysis. We built the reference noise pattern for each CT-Scanner from its 3D image, then we correlated the tested 3D images with each reference noise pattern in order to identify the corresponding CT-Scanner. We used a wavelet-based Wiener filter approach to extract the noise. Experimental results were applied on eight 3D images of 100 slices from different CT-Scanners, and we were able to identify each CT-Scanner separately.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114954365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The database contains five types of international traffic signs that allow differentiation by means of color and shape, and it has been collected in two cities in Greece. We further present a baseline system for detecting and recognizing signs in this database, primarily employing color segmentation in the RGB color space, shape detection, and a number of problem specific heuristics. Our approach proves quite robust to the degraded traffic signs of our collected database, achieving an F-score of 0.91.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114564183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present a few experimental results assessing the impact, on the terminal power consumption, of a luminance preprocessing stage realized at the server side during mobile video streaming sessions. Based on these results, we recognize that luminance pre-processing at the server side reduces terminal consumption during mobile streaming much to the same extent as the processing realized at the client side. We further discuss the systems advantages of assigning this functionality to the server side. Specifically, this first result paves the way to further study on energy-aware streaming systems, where the streamed video data can be selected not only based on the encoding rates, as in conventional streaming, but also of energy-demanding video characteristics.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132335225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the relevant state-of-the-art solutions rely on either visual or audio analysis, using feature arrays that are highly correlated with the characteristics of the respective camera or microphone. In this work, we present a multi-modal approach that uses both video and audio information to improve the detection accuracy. For this purpose, microphone detection based on the blind estimation of the frequency response is complemented with a video camera detection based on a set of video features related to the Color Filter Array interpolation. Experimental results show that the combined approach results in an improved overall classification accuracy over the mono-modal cases.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132623219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is based on support vector regression (SVR) fusion. Despite the variety of the proposed IQM measures, no efficient and sufficient measure gives good performance over different distortions. Motivated by this problem, a new measure for No reference Image Quality Assessment Based on SVR Fusion (NR BSVRF) is constituted. First, five recent no reference measures are selected to form a quality vector of an image, then the quality vector is fused via SVR. The SVR is trained to have a model that is used to predict the image quality. Obtained results are promising. They have shown better performance compared to existing No-reference image quality measures.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"99 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114515262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Very few methods have been designed to solve this problem using intensity features and considered small sample size issue. In this paper, we consider the worst case scenario when there exists a single instance of an individual image in a gallery with normal modality i.e. visual while the probe is captured with alternate modality, e.g. Near Infrared. To solve this problem, we propose a technique inspired from tied factor Analysis (TFA) and Bagging. In the proposed method, the original TFA method is extended to handle small training samples problem in heterogeneous environment. But one can report the higher recognition rates by testing on small subset of images. Therefore, bagging is introduced to remove the effects of biased results from original TFA method. Experiments conducted on a challenging benchmark HFB and Biosecure face databases validate its effectiveness and superiority over other state-of-the-art methods using intensity features holistically.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116319632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The database contains 184 distorted videos obtained from eight videos of different content. Packet loss rate, jitter, delay, and throughput have been considered as possible distortions resulting from video transmission. Video sequences, collected subjective scores, and results of the performed analysis are made publicly available for the research community, for designing, testing and comparing objective video quality metrics. The analysis of the results shows that packet loss rate, throughput/bandwidth, and jitter have significant effect on perceived quality, while an initial delay does not significantly affect the perceived quality.","PeriodicalId":442246,"journal":{"name":"2014 5th European Workshop on Visual Information Processing (EUVIP)","volume":"15 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132983289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
