Works, from adapting slides and recording video clips, were shared between two participating lecturers on personally-owned devices. It was found that the time required to generate the video clips were at least 3 times the resulting clip lengths. While the equipment, and operational cost could be kept down, investment in a good video editing software was necessary. The most important factor for success was the determination to push through the entire course despite the workload. Gained lessons included not being too ambitious or aiming for perfection; acceptable quality videos were enough. For clip deployment, the communication with students was also needed. The initial worry about students' accessibility to video clips and online platforms was not found to be of much concern. However, the learning mobility of students was hampered by the internet connection speed and the need for a suitable self-studying environment; the most preferred location and time were at home in the evenings.","PeriodicalId":440018,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th International Conference on Ubi-media Computing and Workshops (Ubi-Media)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125392858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper provides a new practical approach for indoor position using WiFi. The approach uses the signal strength of a receiver from transmitters to calculate relative distances from the received signal strength. Finally, the position is calculated by applying the Binary Search algorithm and relative distances. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, the experimental test-bed on four-corner access points is conducted. The results show that the calculated positions at the border, or near the access points, are accurate. However, the results in the middle have some errors, due to a distance from access points. The preliminary observation shows that the errors came from the limitation of receiver hardware, which can be compensated by adjusting access points topology.","PeriodicalId":440018,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th International Conference on Ubi-media Computing and Workshops (Ubi-Media)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124066618","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We see the stupendous potential of MOOCs in education. However, there has always been a problem that existed in Taiwan that is also often discussed. It is known as the gap between industry and education, which means that the students who has graduated from universities, do not always have the skills that the industries needed. We find that in most cases, students will only have some skills or knowledge about some tools that is listed from the requirements of the industries. The students have plentiful self-studying resources from the internet, we hope to encourage the students to learn and empower themselves by correctly recommend what are the most required skills of their desired occupation. Therefore, this paper proposed a clustering method that shows the results of groups of skills that are commonly needed for a particular type of job.","PeriodicalId":440018,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th International Conference on Ubi-media Computing and Workshops (Ubi-Media)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127703065","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today most video capturing devices record HD video and are battery operated, which creates the need for low power Fast Motion Estimation algorithms This paper presents such an algorithm, which targets Full Search quality at HD resolution. It is built upon existing Fast Motion Estimation algorithms for lower resolution and introduces the concept of signature based motion estimation. The proposed algorithm hashes the Low Pass filtered video information to quantify Similarity. The proposed algorithm succeeds in closing about half of the quality gap between some of the most efficient Fast Motion Estimation algorithms and Full Search.","PeriodicalId":440018,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th International Conference on Ubi-media Computing and Workshops (Ubi-Media)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125634078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the process of watermark embedding, a binary watermark image is added into the blue color component of a white color image. Paper check template is overlaid on the result, and printed out on a piece of paper. In the watermark extraction process, a paper check is first scanned back to obtain an electronic copy. A technique of image registration based on affine transformation is then applied to reduce geometric distortions from the printing and scanning processes, followed by a thresholding step to estimate the embedded bit in each watermarked component. The performance of the proposed method was investigated using different scanning resolutions and printing quality modes. Its extraction performance from the paper checks with written texts and folded marks was also investigated. The promising results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":440018,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th International Conference on Ubi-media Computing and Workshops (Ubi-Media)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129470386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
