We show that the encoded bits of the ACELP codebook excitation pulse positions are more appropriate for message hiding than the encoded bits of other speech parameters. The score of an imperceptibility assessment shows that the perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) value is reduced slightly, by 0.112, compared to that of a carrier voice that is not inserted information. Evaluation reports present that our proposed scheme can attain complete invisibility and obtains a message-hiding volume of on average 400 bps for a 5.3 kbit/s coding rate. Objective quality measurements verify that our proposed hiding scheme can achieve an inaudible distortion in the occult-speech quality.","PeriodicalId":440018,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th International Conference on Ubi-media Computing and Workshops (Ubi-Media)","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134333426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, a blur detection based on Structural Similarity (SSIM) is proposed to identify whether an image contains a blurred background and the sharp foreground objects can then be extracted. The visual saliency is further calculated to help remove insignificant boundaries. Some pre-defined rules are employed to determine more appropriate cropping limits. If further reduction of resolution is necessary, the resulting image after cropping will be scaled directly to the target size. The experimental results show that the proposed method is computationally efficient and the promising results can be achieved in still images and video frames.","PeriodicalId":440018,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th International Conference on Ubi-media Computing and Workshops (Ubi-Media)","volume":"325 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133189235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In broadcasting, over-exposed regions in image/video can be detected and corrected prior to sending them to consumers. However, the current detection of over-exposed regions is sometimes inaccurate. The detected over-exposed regions are susceptible to noise and scattered. In this paper, we proposed detecting over-exposed regions in images using L2 regularized logistic regression (LR). Over-exposed regions are accurately detected using several novel features in the LR model. These include modeling the characteristics of over-exposed regions as clusters rather than isolated pixels. In addition, overexposed regions are also characterized by both intensity and chrominance pixel values. Optimal parameters for the classifier are obtained by performing training on different scenes. The experimental results show that the detected over-exposed regions are more spatially connected and perceptually accurate compared with current techniques with comparable fast processing.","PeriodicalId":440018,"journal":{"name":"2017 10th International Conference on Ubi-media Computing and Workshops (Ubi-Media)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114173508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
