Our target data is a blog about afflicted people's needs provided by a non-profit organization in Tohoku, Japan. The method crawls blog messages, extracts terms, and forms document-term matrix over time. Then, it adopts the latent semantic analysis to extract people's needs as hidden topics from each snapshot matrix. We form time series hidden topic-term matrix as 3rd order tensor, so that changes in topics (people's needs) are detected by investigating time-series similarities between hidden topics. In this paper, to show the effectiveness of our proposed method, we also provide the experimental results.","PeriodicalId":425023,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference of IEEE Region 10 (TENCON 2013)","volume":"75 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120839883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The L2 norm regularization method was used for the solution, because of the ill-condition encountered in the solution process. L1 norm regularization model was also established for the lack of L2 norm method and the sparse nature of the target signal. In order to improve the computational efficiency, L1 norm regularization model was transformed into semi-definite programming model which was solved by predictor-corrector primal-dual path-following method. The computer simulation for different signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) was made, the preliminary findings shows that both methods can distinguish the point targets, the performance of L1 norm regularization method is better under the same conditions, it has a strong noise adoptive ability, and the resolution is increased by 1.7 times, when SNR is 0dB.","PeriodicalId":425023,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference of IEEE Region 10 (TENCON 2013)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127132439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In some real-world applications, however, only the noise-masked speech is available, rendering existing indices of little use. The present study assessed the performance of an intelligibility measure that could be used to predict non-intrusively (i.e., with no access to the clean input signal) speech intelligibility in noise using only information extracted from the noise-masked speech envelopes. The proposed intelligibility measure (denoted as ModA) was computed by integrating the area of the modulation spectrum (within 0.5 Hz to 10 Hz) of the noise-masked envelopes extracted in four acoustic bands. The ModA measure was evaluated with intelligibility scores obtained by normal-hearing listeners presented with Mandarin sentences corrupted by three types of maskers. High correlation (r=0.90) was obtained between ModA values and listener's intelligibility scores, suggesting that the modulation-spectrum area could be potentially used as a simple but efficient predictor of speech intelligibility in noisy conditions.","PeriodicalId":425023,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference of IEEE Region 10 (TENCON 2013)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123391493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the shape of the submarine, which is divided into three highlights, and the equivalent sheltered area of the submarine highlights is calculated using equivalent area method. Submarine target echo signal is using trapezoid pulse signal as torpedo active acoustic signal. Simulation results show that results are consistent with the basic theory of the target echo, and verify the validity of the method. The bidirectional decision feedback equalizer (BiDFE) replaces the classical DFE to eliminate inter-symbol interference (ISI). The presented structure takes advantage of pulse compression, the difference in error propagation between the forward DFE and backward DFE, and performs adaptive multichannel combining. Simulation shows the porposed structure has a better performance than other existing structure.","PeriodicalId":425023,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference of IEEE Region 10 (TENCON 2013)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125277113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an independent and identically distributed (IID) error model is used to describe traces of a public dataset collected in rural Wi-Fi networks. Our work shows that IID model is an adequate error model to describe the intervals of two consecutive error frames, while it fails to capture the burst error distribution. Tenera at frequency from 1 to 30 MHz. The complex permittivity data of palm fruit which can be described in terms of dielectric constant and loss factor is very crucial to design a radio frequency (RF) system for heating palm fruit. From our measurement, the characteristics of the capacitance, dielectric constant and loss factor of all palm fruit layers decrease significantly with frequency. The loss tangent of the kernel and mesocarp layers is higher than the shell layer; meaning that both kernel and mesocarp layers can absorb radio energy and convert to heat more efficient than the shell layer. Applying the radio wave either at 13.56 or 27.12 MHz, the penetration depths of mesocarp and kernel layers are computed and found to be several times thicker than the their thickness values. This confirms that an efficient RF heating mechanism in mesocarp and kernel layers can be obtained.","PeriodicalId":425023,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference of IEEE Region 10 (TENCON 2013)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122527440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
