The purpose of this paper was to explore indicators of primary and secondary victimization in cases of sexual abuse and aggressions against adult women, as well as relevant crime variables, and their relation with the decision-making. For this, a developed categorical system ad hoc was created, and applied to the content analysis of a total of 50 judicial sentences issued by Spanish courts between 2016-2019. Among the most relevant findings, the high prevalence of psychopathology and diverse symptomatology concomitant to the crime stands out, unlike physical injuries, the least frequent being genital ones. On the other hand, the medical evidence of physical injuries, and the finding of having required psychological and/or psychiatric treatment, were associated with a higher probability of conviction. Likewise, the victim-offender link and its continuity after the complaint are highlighted as factors associated with absolute results. Revictimization indicators, due to the police intervention and judicial system, were identified and were seen to be present in 18% of the cases, and were associated with an absolute direction of the ruling. Additionally, it is worth highlighting the high presence of crimes classified as sexual abuse that correspond to unauthorized carnal access because of the victim’s inability to grant such consent. The limitations and the implications of the study to improve the welfare of the victims are discussed.","PeriodicalId":422136,"journal":{"name":"Colección Psicología y Ley","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126011611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to analyse risk behaviours on Internet in adolescent populations and taking into account a gender perspective, we proposed a descriptive study. Faced with their children's behaviour, parents experience blockage, submission and difficulties in telling those around them about their situation, leading to social isolation. The aim of this study is to compare the degree of social maladjustment of the parents of adolescents who were serving measures for VFP-related offences with those whose children are serving measures for other types of offence. This study included 48 participants whose children were serving judicial measures in the province of S/C de Tenerife, for VFP offences in 66.7% of the cases and for other offences in the rest. Participants answered a questionnaire that included the Escala de Inadaptación Social of Echeburúa and Corral (1998) and questions on sociodemographic data. The statistical analysis of the data shows that social maladjustment was greater among parents whose children had committed VFP crimes, both in general terms and in different life areas. It is common to find cognitive biases and irrational beliefs among males referring specifically to the inferiority of women and gender roles. Similarly, males tend to justify and minimize violence and to blame women for the abuse. In this work, we relate sexist beliefs and distorted thoughts to aggressive behaviour and self-esteem. We make use of the factorial structure of the Distorted Beliefs and Thoughts Against Women in the Couple Questionnaire (CREE) whose reliability is α .92. The sample of volunteers was 223 adults from the Canary Islands, 102 men and 121 women ( M age = 35.25; SD = 10.46). To measure the effects of possible response distortion given in the tests, we have validated them using the scales of Social Desirability and Sincerity of the ATRAMIC test. Males scored higher than females for the factors “Gender Roles” and “Justification and Minimization of Abuse/Violence”. No significant differences were found between genders for either “Couple Relationship/Dominant Emotional Dependence” or “Exoneration for Abuse/Violence”. The variables studied that best predicted “Couple Relationship/Dominant Emotional Dependency” were Exoneration for Abuse /Violence, Hostility, Justification, and Minimization of Violence, Gender Roles, and Social Desirability.","PeriodicalId":422136,"journal":{"name":"Colección Psicología y Ley","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123399799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, it has been identified that exposure to domestic violence and parent-to-child maltreatment contribute greatly to the increase in situations of child-to-parent violence. Violent behaviour is presented as a mean to obtain a benefit (instrumental reasons) or as a mean to defend against a threat (reactive reasons). This study aimed to examine the relationship and contribution of parent-to-child maltreatment in child-to-parent violence exercised for instrumental and reactive reasons. For this, there was a sample of 1,156 adolescents from the community population. The Child-to-Parent Violence Questionnaire and the Violence Exposure Scale were applied. The findings indicated relationships between different manifestations of parent-to-child maltreatment and instrumental and reactive child-to-parent violence. In addition, it was identified that parent-to-child maltreatment contributed to explain both instrumental and reactive child-to-parent violence, being the greater proportion for the latter. On the other hand, the abuse by the father contributes to explain the child-to-parent violence towards the mother. The results of this study improve the understanding of child-to-parent violence and it could be useful for preventive and intervention purposes.","PeriodicalId":422136,"journal":{"name":"Colección Psicología y Ley","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116482175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted in a juvenile offender’s sample (a total of 788) in the Madrid Region who committed their first offense between 2009 and 2011, at the age of 14 or 15 years old. To this end, data from judicial records and from IGI-J was collected and categorized into 32 independent variables, distributed into the following areas: personal, personality, behaviour and mental health, relative to the family context, school and peer’s context and related to the infraction. The population was described by descriptive analysis. In addition, it has been verified if there is a significant and relevant relationship between the independent variables and recidivism, by means of test of χ2 Pearson. The relevant variables for the recidivism are: respect for rules, parental practices, sociocultural family background, school absenteeism, problems with their peers, and type of first offense. The SIMS is used in the medico-legal context to assess people who have suffered a traffic accident. This practice is problematic because, to date, no research has been published which validates the instrument for that population. Therefore, the objective of this research is to evaluate the ability of the SIMS to discriminate between educated simulators, general population and patients who have suffered a traffic accident. Method . A simulation design was used to evaluate a total of 536 subjects divided into the three groups mentioned. Two cutoff scores were used, 14 and 16. Results . The SIMS is able to discriminate between groups, being more effective in the comparison between malingerers and general population. Using the aforementioned cutoff scores, moderate sensitivity and moderate-high specificity are achieved in the comparison between simulators and patients, the values being slightly higher with the cutoff score of 14. Conclusions . The results indicate that the SIMS is not an adequate scale to perform a simulation screening in patients who have suffered a traffic accident. The instrument can be useful in the context studied, but it needs to be adapted to its particularities.","PeriodicalId":422136,"journal":{"name":"Colección Psicología y Ley","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128480585","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
