The goal of the research is to suggest a model for economic security assessment based on public available data from official sources like EUROSTAT or national databases. The main assumption is that economic security is directly proportional to the economic development. Based on this assumption the economic security could be assessed using measurements for economic development such as GDP, GDP per capita, inflation, unemployment, budget deficit, government debt, net export, etc. A model is provided giving 7 indicators of economic growth and referencing values that if achieved and sustained for a longer period of time should provide a higher level of economic security. Failure of innovation projects is amongst others due to deterioration and insufficient focus on relational aspects. Aim; an innovative management tool for facilitating process innovation is launched. Methods; Systemic innovation (SI) is a social network management model, subsidiary to actual management models for quality improvement and innovation. The SI management model yields essential tools for stimulation of communication in multidisciplinary teams in order to shape alternative mindsets. Results; The key domains of SI representing socio-dynamics, value of arguments and flexibility for change concern topics for assessment of behavior with regard to psychosocial and organizational characteristics. The key domains yield a format enabling a critical appraisal concerning improvement of socio-technologic aspects in case of process innovation. {"title":"Credit Worthiness and Repayment Performance Among Small – Holder Farmers in Sri Lanka: Application of Probit Model","authors":"B. Sivatharshika, A. A sample of 113 small –holder agricultural loan borrowers from five villages who get the loans from SANASA TCCS served as the respondents in the study. A set of structured questionnaire was used to collect the primary data from the respondents who lives in the five villages located in Marukkarambali GS division in Vavuniya district, Sri Lanka during the period of 2018/2019. The dependent variable is the credit worthiness measured as binary variables where it takes as one for defaulters and zero for non - defaulters and the selected demographic characters, farming characters and farmers’ attributes were taken as explanatory variables in the study. To identify the above characters on the credit worthiness of the farmers’ descriptive statistics, and binary probit model were employed. The results of the descriptive statistics revealed that, 43.4% of the respondents belonged to the defaulters while 56.6% of them belonged to the non – defaulters in the study. Estimated results of the probit model suggest that among the demographic characteristics, age of the farmers, levels of education, number of family members positively influenced the loan repayment performance of smallholder farmers, while among farming characters, income, farm size, land ownership, farming experience, off-farm activities, purpose of loan and possibility of crop failure were positively impact on credit worthiness and repayment performance at different significant levels. On the other hand, knowledge about the loan and responsible guarantors were the major factors of farmers’ attributes influencing the repayment performance in the study. The empirical results are part of a representative survey of enterprises in Bulgaria, varying in size, type of activity, location, ownership (family and non-family), age and sex of the founder entrepreneur, and other characteristics. The paper focuses on small and medium-sized companies due to their importance for the economy, as well as due to their not fully deployed potential for more active participation and successful performance on the international markets. The aims and advantages of networking have been investigated in the paper, as well as the relationship between participation in networks and providing public services to the enterprises. Furthermore, the connection between the entrepreneurs’ specific characteristics, on the one hand, and the involvement of their companies in networks and looking for institutional support for different initiatives (including internationalisation), on the other hand, has been analysed. {"title":"The Positive Impact of a Portuguese State-Owned Company that Invested on Consumers Nutritional Education – the Case of Fish and Docapesca","authors":"A. This paper presents the case of a company that considers food quality, safety, health and nutrition as a priority: Docapesca – Portos e Lotas, SA. This state-owned company (operating in the Portuguese fish sector) has taken under its wing the task – and also the responsibility – of educating consumers’ preferences regarding fish. Portugal ranks number 3 in the world consuming fish which is fantastic since fish is a fabulous source of easily digested, high quality animal protein. Fish is high in lysine and sulphur amino acids, provides vitamin A and vitamin D, and (above all) contains a very powerful, almost panacea-like nutrient-called “Omega-3 fat”. According to Sørensen (1996), fish provides security and it is considered a very healthy product. The company analysed in this paper, Docapesca – Portos e Lotas SA, provides the public service of organizing the first sale of fish (on mainland Portugal), and also supports the fishing harbour sector. But besides that, one of the company’s main objectives include consumers’ education, nutritional education and knowledge transfer on healthy food and diet. Social responsibility, quality guarantee, cooperation with society and environmental and civic responsibility are also part of its mission. To write this paper we have had access to privilege State information and we have made an exhaustive detailed analysis of the different strategies implemented by Docapesca – Portos e Lotas, SA (in-depth interviews to key decision makers in the company were the way to reach all this exclusive data). This study gathered information from entire Portuguese population but gave special attention to the young generation (16 to 34 years old). {"title":"Interpretive Theorizing on the Development of Management Accounting in Russia: Constructivist Grounded Theory Approach","authors":"P. It is exemplified by the study of the development and the current state of management accounting in Russia and is conducted by the author with a main phase of investigation between 2014 and 2019. These studies employed various methods including archival research, an extended survey study, and a longitudinal case-based study of particular companies, all of them having produced diverse results. An interpretive approach, as demonstrated in this paper, is an effective vehicle to pursue the ambitious goals of reconciling findings from multiple studies while searching for patterns among them. Such a process allows the author to explore, formulate, and explain a holistic, but a systematic picture of the state and development of management accounting and contribute to the development of theory. The paper demonstrates how the author applied a cornerstone of the qualitative analysis—various coding approaches—to develop categories as foundations for formulated theoretical propositions. The analysis emphasizes on the nonlinearity facet of the explored causality. In this aspect, existing conditional heteroscedasticity as a potential source of bias, is filtered out with the use of the nonparametric Diks and Panchenko causality test. The UK government expenditures are disaggregated into total managed expenditure (TGE), current expenditure (CGE) and net investment (IGE), in order to account for a possible heterogeneity in a causality disclosure linked to the nature of expenditures. The findings support that UK government spending Granger causes nonlinearly UK economic growth. Overall, government spending at all three levels of disaggregation is documented to influence the economic growth in the UK. In this aspect, the results move along with the endogenous growth literature. However, in a policy making framework, the disclosed nonlinearity patterns stress the high risk involved whenever economic growth is pursued restrictively via public spending policies overlooking other important elements of the economic life (e.g. market structure, macroeconomic environment, etc.). Investments in the public sector are generally characterized by relatively long implementation cycles and involve significant capital expenditure and the necessity of often parallel running a large number of investment projects. In the processes of this type of investment a specific risk category of financing of this type of investment is quite often taken into account, given that such projects are financed mainly from budgetary resources: the state budget and self-government budgets. Economic practice indicates an importance of the proper selection of the method of the financing of new investments and taking into account new funds from various sources. This situation is often the result of a shortage of budgetary resources from which public investments could be financed. There may be difficulties in financing investments resulting from the emergence of a risk of budgetary deficit and the public debt. This risk may have a negative impact on investment decisions and may adversely affect the future course of ongoing investment projects. The purpose of the paper is to undertake studies on the conditions of financing investments from the point of view of the possibility of budget deficit and public debt and the impact of changes in the financial situation on the overall level of risk of public investment. {"title":"The Euro in Historical Comparison to the Ruble and the Influence of Overconfidence.","authors":"S. As a basis, developments in the ruble currency area and in the Eurozone are traced. In a comparison of the central components of the currency areas, similarities, such as the heterogeneity of the states, and differences, for example the role of the central bank and the legal foundations of the currency area, are outlined. Subsequently, the significant historical exit causes of the states from the Soviet Union out of the ruble currency zone are presented. In addition to obvious structural factors, such as the unequal power structure, also practical reasons, such as the insufficient provision of cash for some areas, are considered. Regarding overconfidence, the sub-categories overestimation and overplacement can be detected mainly regarding the behavior of the administration of the former USSR. The third sub-category, overprecision, can primarily be found in the behavior the European Central Bank and their efforts to stabilize the Euro. Based on the findings, the conclusion can be drawn, that there are certain parallels between the two currency areas.
