The relevance of its topic consists in the debatable nature of the problems of the origin of the Russian words ‘rot (mouth)’, ‘usta (mouth)’, ‘ukho (ear)’, ‘litso (face)’ and others, in the ambiguity of scientists’ opinions regarding their etymology and in the importance of solving relevant issues for the theory of linguogenetics. The purpose of the article is a comparative analysis of the nominees of human head parts in the Slavic and Turkic languages in the aspect of nostratics. In the course of the research, methods of comparison, analogy and reconstruction were used, the identity of the origin of the names of the ear, mouth, face and some other parts of the head in the Slavic and Turkic languages was established, and the position that the formal-sound and semantic differences of the compared words do not go beyond the general laws of language divergence was substantiated. Nikitin","doi":"10.20339/phs.5-23.166","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.20339/phs.5-23.166","url":null,"abstract":"The article is dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Russian scientist, organizer of Soviet science, first academician-secretary of the Department of Literature and Language of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Hero of Socialist Labor I.I. Meshchaninov (1883–1967). It reflects little-known events in Russian linguistics of 1942–1958. The letters of the greatest linguists of the XX century — academician I.I. Meshchaninov and professor (later academician) V.V. Vinogradov are published for the first time. They set out the facts of the personal life of scientists and the activities of academic institutions during the evacuation and peacetime. The presented selection of epistolary materials tells about the work of V.V. Vinogradov in Tobolsk: an attempt to found there a Research institute for the study of languages, folklore, literature and history of the peoples of Siberia and I.I. Meshchaninov’s response to this idea, about a new book on lexis and phraseology, conveys the scientist’s anxiety about his wife’s Moscow apartment, etc. The prospects of V.V. Vinogradov’s relocation to other cities and his restoration in the staff of the Institute of Language and Thinking of the USSR Academy of Sciences are discussed. Judging by the events described, I.I. Meshchaninov took a lively part in the fate of a disgraced colleague and tried to help him overcome hardships. The letters of the 1950s describe events related to the preparation for the elections of academicians and corresponding members of the USSR Academy of Sciences. The epistolary also includes the names of many famous philologists whose destinies were somehow connected with the personality of I.I. Meshchaninov: S.P. Obnorsky, V.F. Shishmaryov, D.V. Bubrikh, A.V. Mirtov, etc. The published documents are of interest to historians of Soviet linguistics, linguoculturologists, sociolinguists. The letters reveal the rare circumstances of the work of research teams in a difficult time for the country, show linguists from an unusual side, report new biographical details, filling in the gaps in the historiography of the XX century. In the course of conducting scientific research, the analysis and description of the material of linguistic, sociological and linguodidactic scientific literature of a lexicographic nature was carried out in order to identify the degree of reflection of the participation of language as a toolkit (tool) of culture in the process of intercultural communication and its definition in the corresponding dictionary entries characterized by similarities and differences. The main differences lie in the explicit or implicit expression of the participation of language in the process of intercultural communication, or in not providing for the role of language in this global interethnic communication. The basis of intercultural communication is language as a means of transmitting information, and bilingualism as a linguistic and speech property of representatives of different nationalities, which ensures the implementation of intercultural communication. In the definitions of intercultural communication presented in four linguographic works, in understanding and defining it, language often goes by the wayside. 12 understandings and definitions of intercultural communication are analyzed. Of these, in 7 the participation of the language is presented explicitly, in 4 — implicitly, in one it is not presented. Intercultural communication cannot be carried out without interlingual communication: language, as a mirror of culture, reflects its inner and outer world, which forms foreign language and foreign cultural knowledge, abilities, skills, which together form and develop the interlinguistic and cultural competence of the individual and society. Intercultural communication is both a universal (universal) phenomenon and a national-specific phenomenon. The second is formed and functions in local conditions. The totality (class) of linguocultural communications in local conditions forms its world (universal) system and dynamics. Language and culture, as components of the act of functioning of intercultural communication, are a dual unity of social functions that ensure interethnic communication in various conditions of the individual and society. Language is a transmitter of culture, so we should talk about inter-linguocultural communication. It examines structural, semantic and pragmatic characteristics of the film proper names. The results of the research show that fictional characters’ names perform different functions, namely, characterizing, stylistic, expressive, referential. Etymological meaning of a personal name is an important source of information about characters. Geographical names are all fictional but they are formed according to word-building patterns of different languages. Names of hotels take a special place in the film onomastic system. Other names of objects allude to some real historical phenomenon. The author of this paper try to understand the writer’s intention based on a textual analysis of the novel. In our work, we rely on the system of editions of the novel that we have established and its main text, reflecting the last creative will of the author to the fullest extent: the first (1928–1930), the second (1932–1936), the third (1936), the fourth (1937), the fifth (last handwritten, 1937–1938), the sixth (final, 1938–1940). The draft texts are conveyed by dynamic transcription, which will make visible the process of writer’s work on the creation and allow us to see the formation of the author’s intention. Graphic conventions are used for this: 1) a piece of text crossed out by the writer — [text]; 2) an insert during the writing process — text; 3) an insert crossed out — [text]; 4) a later insert — {text}; 5) a later insert crossed out — {text}; 6) a conjecture — <text>; 7) reliability of the transmitted author’s text — <sic>; 8) the end of a page and the transition to the next one are indicated by two straight vertical lines ||. Huxley, J. Orwell and forms of psychologism in “We” in comparison with the psychologism of the prose of F. Dostoevsky and L. Tolstoy. Gorky with Soviet writers, public and political figures, shows the significance of Gorky and the second period of his stay in Italy at the Sorrento villa Il Sorrito, where he lived in 1924–1933, for the formation of Russian literature of the Soviet period, as well as the role of Italian impressions of his guests in their biography and creativity. The use of historical-biographical and historical-cultural methods in combination with scientific-source and textual approaches allow you to look into the laboratory of writers who worked at the villa Il Sorrito, as well as describe the creative history of a number of works. As a result of the study, it was found that many Soviet writers came here to Sorrento to Gorky. This allowed the Milan newspaper to call it “the new Yasnaya Polyana” for Russian writers. N.
