Like any journey, organizations must first determine where on the digital divide and where they want to go. Organizations must have a clear vision. Going through the evolution stages of digital transformation is a step-by-step endeavor. Digital maturity is important for each organization. But the important point in digital transformation, like any other transformation, is the vital and influential role of leaders who create a bridge between the past and the future and guide the organization effectively from what was the past to a better future.","PeriodicalId":39735,"journal":{"name":"Business Information Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"111 - 113"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48306576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Barely a week has gone by without a new warning about the threat of AI and the potentially dire consequences of emergent technology. In the last month alone dozens of stories have appeared in the world’s press. Tech leaders and academics issued a statement warning that AI poses a risk of human extinction and should be treated as “a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war” (Centre for AI Safety, 2023). Professor Stuart Russell was reported as stating that “if we don’t control our own civilisation, we have no say in whether we continue to exist.” (Taylor, 2023). An article in BMJ Global Health was published warning of the existential threat of AI (Federspiel et al., 2023). Geoffrey Hinton – widely described as the “godfather of AI” warned of a “serious danger that we’ll get things smarter than us fairly soon and that these things might get bad motives and take control” (Allyn, 2023). A simulated trial of AI drones was reported to have developed “highly unexpected strategies” included “killing” its operators to allow it to complete its mission (Guardian, 2023). On top of this have been hundreds of opinion articles and other news items addressing the risk of AI. The average news junkie could be forgiven for thinking that the technological singularity – a longstanding fear about runaway AI driven technological advancement is only weeks or months away. This sudden panic about the future of AI is in large part a product of the success of large language models and emerging forms of generative AI particularly in music and image creation. There is something uncanny about the apparent human-level of understanding of the latest generative AI technologies, which can respond with remarkable prescience to often quite vague requests and generate apparently spontaneous and humanly meaningful outputs. Interacting with ChatGPT can give the impression of communication with a conscious and self-aware machine. But this experience reveals more about what it means to be human, that it does about the abilities of technology. We are predisposed to perceive motivation and understanding in the acts of others, and generative AI has reached the point where it can trick us now and then into seeing motivations that are not there. Fortunately the current threat of AI is vastly overstated and the technological singularity remains a distant theoretical danger. We are not really significantly closer to the emergence of Artificial General Intelligence, and however uncanny the experience of interacting with large language models, they remain resolutely dumb, lacking anything that can be interpreted as true understanding. But while the current generation of AI is are not about to develop autonomous dangerous behaviours, nevertheless it doe","PeriodicalId":39735,"journal":{"name":"Business Information Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"46 - 48"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48519404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study created a questionnaire of 17 closed questions using variables, such as, basic demographic data and procedures of the recruitment process (analysis of social networks, use of Big Data and importance of the digital image of candidates). The study concluded that the information future candidates show on social media platforms is very important, even decisive, in recruitment. The study confirms the hypothesis that one’s digital identity on social media networks can negatively influence employment opportunities and even be a reason for the rejection of a candidate. Recruitment experts actively review candidates' presence on social media networks, both professional (LinkedIn) and personal platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.","PeriodicalId":39735,"journal":{"name":"Business Information Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"78 - 92"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49410432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study's specific goal was to look at the infopreneurship opportunities that are available and the obstacles that LIS graduates must overcome in order to take use of them. In a methodical manner, relevant research publications from journals were downloaded, reviewed, and interpreted. The researchers used numerous research strategies, such as keyword and phrase searches, to assure the precision of the study papers collected. Because basic phrase and key word searches produced substantial results, advanced search tactics like truncation and Boolean operators were not employed in this investigation. The researchers employed multiple databases, including emerald, research4life, Ebsco host, FullfreePDF, and Google scholar, with base search serving as the primary search engine. The study found out several opportunities that existed on infopreneurship, some of which include Internet blogging, software and hardware installation, graphic design, using information, customized information, facilitating access to information, repackaging information, increasing the flow of information, digitization and internetworking. The study further found a number of challenges that make it less likely for infopreneurs to seize and exploit these opportunities such as financial constraints, the price of necessary equipment, a lack of infrastructure, the legal registration process, graduates' lack of skills, and poor planning. The study concludes that information entrepreneurship is essential to any nation's economic sector. The study suggests that by reviewing LIS curricula we can increase student understanding of infopreneurship practice.","PeriodicalId":39735,"journal":{"name":"Business Information Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"70 - 77"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41565267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on an in-depth analysis of the relevant literature the main challenges regarding the utilization of big data in cloud computing environment were determined. Using the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) the important factors from the perspective of the managers and experts of the surveyed banks were screened and finalized. To address the vagueness of human judgments using fuzzy logic and a hybrid approach consisting of decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) and analytic network process (ANP), known as FDANP the identified challenges were prioritized. The obtained results revealed that the most important challenge (influential) factor is “Availability”, whilst “Transformation” is the most permeable factor. The findings of the study contribute to the knowledge of the managers and policymakers of the Iranian banking sector.","PeriodicalId":39735,"journal":{"name":"Business Information Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"21 - 32"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43876793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been associated with increased productivity and the development of new business opportunities. But the use of data is sometimes also associated with poor decision-making, either because of the quality of the data on which decisions are made, or because of the ways in which that data is used. This paper explores the problem of dangerous data in commercial contexts: those situations where the use of data contributes to worse outcomes.t","PeriodicalId":39735,"journal":{"name":"Business Information Review","volume":"40 1","pages":"10 - 20"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44799788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
