{"title":"Structural Relationships between Academic Motivation, Procrastination and Perfectionism: A Modelling Study","authors":"Uğur Akpur, N. The purpose of this study is to determine whether a model can be formed on the ground of the structural relationship pattern between motivation, procrastination and perfectionism. The participants consisted of 210 students studying at a state university in Istanbul. As data collection tools, Academic Motivation Scale, Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale and Aitken Academic Procrastination Inventory were administered to the study group. Data obtained were analysed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 software program through Structural Equation Modelling. Results have indicated that maladaptive perfectionism, as is the case with procrastination, is affected by intrinsic and extrinsic motivation as well as amotivation. On the other hand, adaptive perfectionism is affected by intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Bu calismada gorme yetersizligi olan ogrencilerin ihtiyaclari dikkate alinarak hazirlanan etkinliklerin bilimsel surec becerilerine gore analizi yapilmistir. Calismanin yontemi durum calismasidir. Durum calismalari, mevcut durumlarin ya da olusan durumlarin daha iyi anlasilmasini saglayan nitel veya nicel olarak kullanilan bir yontemdir. Calisma grubu uc gormeyen ve bes az goren ogrenciden olusturmaktadir. Calismada veri toplama araci olarak Fen Egitim Gozlem Formu (FEGF) kullanilmistir. Calismanin guvenirliginin saglanmasi amaciyla ders esnasinda kaydedilen videolar arastirmacilar tarafindan ayri ayri izlenerek FEGF tekrardan doldurulmus ve arastirmacilarin analizleri karsilastirilmistir. Calisma kapsaminda gelistirilen ders planlari ile gorme yetersizligi olan ogrencilerin ‘gozlem yapma, olcme, siniflama, verileri kaydetme, hipotez kurma, verileri kullanma ve model olusturma, degiskenleri degistirme ve kontrol etme, deney yapma’ bilimsel surec becerilerini kazandiklari belirlenmistir. Bu becerilerin kazanilmasinda gorme yetersizligi olan ogrencilerin ogrenme ihtiyaclarina yonelik ogretim materyallerinin kullanilmasi ve onceden kazandirilmak istenen bilimsel surec becerilerinin ders planina yerlestirilmesi ogrencilerin bu becerileri gelistirmesinde etkililigi arttirdigi dusunulmektedir. Therefore, environmental education has an important role in the sustainability of a livable and sustainable environment. In order to increase the sensitivity of children to the environment, the love of nature should be internalized. Social Studies course aims that children, who are adults of the future in the specific aims of the course, are trained as nature sensitive individuals who are aware of the limitations of natural resources and who try to protect natural resources and have a sustainable environmental understanding. Due to this importance of the course, “sensitivity to natural environment” was determined as the subject of the study. The aim of this study is to help student attain the learning outcomes in the unit “People, Places and Environments” unit of the syllabus of the Primary School 4th Grade Social Studies course with alternative activities related to the topic of sensitivity to the natural environment. Action research method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The study group consisted of 19 primary school 4th grade students in the second semester of 2017-2018 academic year in Kastamonu city center. In this research, firstly, the students were asked to determine their thoughts by asking an open-ended question about “love of nature” and “sensitivity to natural environment”. In this study, photographic analysis, resolver story, song, puzzle and tree planting activities developed by the researchers in a systematic program, were applied in a 5 week-period. At the end of the process, the open-ended interview form prepared by the researchers was applied to the students. The data were analyzed by using content analysis method. Bu calismanin amaci, ilkogretim matematik ogretmeni adaylarinin matematigi ogretme bilgilerinin gelisimini incelemektir. Arastirmada betimsel arastirma yontemlerinden boylamasina gelisimsel arastirma yontemi kullanilmistir. Arastirmanin katilimcilarini, Karadeniz bolgesinde bir universitenin egitim fakultesi ilkogretim matematik ogretmenligi bolumunde ogrenim goren 3. siniftaki 35 ogretmen adayi olusturmaktadir. Calismanin verileri, bir ogretme senaryosu kullanilarak toplanmistir. Dogal sayilarda carpma isleminin ele alindigi bu senaryo acik uclu sorularla desteklenerek adaylara yazili olarak yoneltilmis ve yorumlamalari istenmistir. Ogretme senaryosu, 3. sinifin guz donemi basinda, guz donemi sonunda ve bahar donemi sonunda olmak uzere toplam uc defa adaylara uygulanmistir. Veriler, senaryoya iliskin olusturulan uc matematik ogretme bilgisi seviyesi yardimiyla betimsel olarak analiz edilmis, boylece adaylarin hem surec boyunca hem de donemsel gelisimleri ortaya cikarilmaya calisilmistir. Bu amaca yonelik olarak; 2013 egitim ogretim yilindan bu yana uygulanan yedinci sinif matematik dersi programlari ve yedinci sinif matematik dersi kitabi finansal okuryazarligi desteklemesi acisindan incelenmistir. Yedinci sinif matematik ders kitaplari arasindan rastgele biri secilmistir. Calismada yazili dokuman analiz teknigi kullanilmistir. Verilerin analizinde PISA (2015) finansal okuryazarlik ve matematiksel okuryazarlik boyutlari temel alinmistir. Finansal okuryazarlik boyutlari icerik, surec ve baglam olmak uzere uc baslikta kategorilesmistir. Her boyutun kendi icinde dort alt boyutu bulunmaktadir. Verilerin analizinde yuzde ve frekans degerleri hesaplanmistir. Bulgularin dogrulugunu zenginlestirmek icin matematik egitimi konusunda uzmanlasmis bir arastirmaci unite alt basliklarindan birinde yer alan problemleri detaylica incelemis, kodlamalari yapmistir. Kodlamalardaki farkliliklar icin degerlendirmeler tekrar gozden gecirilmis, uzman ve arastirmaci arasinda tam uzlasi saglanmistir. Arastirmanin sonuclari, incelenen matematik programlarinin ve matematik ders kitabinin ortuk bir sekilde finansal okuryazarligi destekledigini gostermektedir. Incelemede en cok sayilar ve islemler alt ogrenme alanindaki kazanimlarin ve baglamlarin finansal okuryazarlik ile iliskili oldugu ortaya cikmaktadir. Arastirmada, risk ve getiri icerigiyle iliskili problemlerin de ders kitaplarinda yer almasi tavsiye edilmistir. It aims to investigate if adult Turkish L2 learners of English make use of their L1 parameter values while dealing with the target subject-matter in L2 or not. It specifically focuses on four island constraints (Wh-island Constraint, Complex NP Island Constraint, Adjunct Island Constraint and Sentential Subject Constraint) in the target language. The data were collected through a grammaticality judgment test and a wh-question formation test from two learner groups (advanced, N:66; intermediate, N: 68) and a control group (N:58). The results of the study showed that the participants make use of the parameter values of the target language rather than leaning on the ones that their native language possesses. Their performance on the target subject-matter was rather similar that of the control group members. The argument & adjunct asymmetry that exists in their mother tongue was not observed in their L2 productions. Veriler Maxqda 11 nitel veri analizi programi ve betimsel analiz teknigi ile analiz edilmistir. Ana kategoriler ve temalar olusturulduktan sonra, goruslerden elde edilen kodlar temalar altinda siralanmistir. Bulgular, ikinci sinif ogretmen adaylarinin, materyallerin gelistirilmesi ve sunum sureci hakkinda olumlu dusuncelere sahip oldugunu ortaya koymustur. Ancak, materyal hazirlama ve sunum asamalarina yonelik yasanilan zorluklar da ortaya cikmistir. Donem sonunda, ogrenciler tarafindan hazirlanan materyallerin diger ogretmenler ve ogrenciler tarafindan ziyaret edilerek gorulmesi acisindan sergilenmesi onerilmektedir.
