Material-Methods: In our study, medical records with pre-diagnosis of psychiatric disorder were scanned retrospectively in the electronic environment from the applications made to the emergency department of a training and research hospital in a one-year period covering 2017. The data were collected using a form prepared as per the current literature and developments. Using descriptive statistics, socio-demographic and health history characteristics and clinical diagnoses were evaluated. Results: It was determined that 84.04% of all patients that were admitted to the emergency department for mental health reasons were diagnosed with code F41 (other anxiety disorders), that 23.60% were in the 15-24 age group, and that 69.50% were female. The emergency department admission characteristics of the subjects were as follows: 10.60% of all admissions were made in July, 48.20% were made between 16:01-00:00, 5.00% were referred to psychiatric consultation, 93.60% received ambulatory follow-up, and 12.90% were admitted to the emergency department two or more times within one year. Conclusion: The most common diagnosis was “other anxiety disorders” and the majority of the patients were young adults and female. Since emergency departments are among the first places where individuals seek medical care for mental health, we believe that our results will help structure emergency psychiatric services.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"32 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123223801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This type of cancer is one of the main causes of cancer-related deaths and is characterized by proliferation and metastasis of transformed cells. Extracellular matrix plays an important role in the growth, progression, prognosis, invasion and metastasis of breast cancer cells. Extracellular matrix degradation occurs by matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in invasive and metastatic breast cancers. MMPs are important proteolytic enzymes and are effective in tumor growth, invasion and metastasis. Various genetic variations have been identified in MMP genes and these genetic variations have been associated with changes in MMP enzyme activities, promoter activity, cell proliferation, and transcriptional regulation. Therefore, cell proliferation and tumor migration can be affected in breast cancer. Single nucleotide gene variations such as MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7, MMP-9 and MMP-12 have been associated with susceptibility to various cancer types such as breast cancer. The aim of this review is to provide general information about the pathogenesis of breast cancer as well as to examine the roles of MMP gene variations and expression levels in the development of breast cancer.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116700355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: All PTR students (n= 311, 75.56% female n= 265, 24.44% male n= 76) who met the inclusion criteria International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was used to determine physical activity level, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to determine sleep quality, and Time Management Inventory (TMI) was used to determine time management skill. Results: During the COVID-19 pandemic of the students in the PTR department, 72.48% had poor sleep quality, 27.43% were inactive and only 22.82% had sufficient physical activity. Female students body mass indexes were lower, physical activity levels, time attitudes (managing time well) and sleep quality were negatively affected, and the time they spent sitting was found to be higher than men (p<0.05). The use of sleeping pills, sleep quality total score, time management and attitudes had a worse affect in inactive students than students with adequate physical activity (p<0.05). In addition, students with good physical activity scores were found to have less use of sleeping pills and a weak level of positive correlation with time management (p<0.05). It was also found that some of the subscales of sleep disorders a weak level of negatively correlated with some scores of time management (p<0.05). Discussion and Conclusion: In our study, it was observed that the physical activities and sleep quality of the students in the PTR department were negatively affected during the COVID-19 pandemic, while this situation was more dominant in female students. In addition, students with poor time management skills were found to have low physical activity levels and poor sleep quality. However, more studies are needed, especially on the effects and education of time management.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"94 41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129096195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Early diagnosis with screening programs in individuals with no suspicion of cancer or with the precancerous is important in terms of increasing the quality of life of the patient and taking precautions against the risks that may occur in the future. Early diagnosis of cancer using various diagnostic methods increases the success of treatment. Immunotherapy methods that strengthen the immune system and initiate a new era in anticancer therapy are used in the treatment. This method involves changing a patient's immune cells using biotechnology. Cancer vaccines are one of the therapeutic methods that are frequently studied recently and can develop a clinical response that can completely cure the disease. The vaccine creates an antitumor immune response in individuals with cancer, prevents cancer-causing viruses and infections, and reduces the risk of cancer development in some high-risk individuals.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131510321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The questionnaire form elicited items on sociodemographic characteristics of patients, pain characteristics and the pain intensity assessment via three scales including Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Numerical Rating Scale (NRS), Verbal Descriptor Scale (VDS). Results: Mean(SD) VAS, VDS and NRS scores were 4.7(1.3), 2.8(0.7) and 4.5(1.2), respectively. VDS (67.6%) was the most commonly preferred scale by patients, as followed by VAS (23.5%) and NRS (8.8%). Positive significant correlations were noted between each scale (r: ranged from 0.809 between VAS and VDS to 0.865 between VDS and NRS, p<0.001 for each). There was a high level of inter-scale concordance overall (Cronbach's alpha: 0.910), including VAS x VDS (Cronbach's alpha: 0.820), VAS x NRS (Cronbach’s alpha=0.906) and VDS x NRS (Cronbach’s alpha=0.868). Conclusion: In conclusion, our findings demonstrate that all three scales (VAS, NRS, VDS) provide reliable and valid data with strong correlations and a high level of inter-scale concordance in assessing postoperative pain intensity in laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients. However, VDS appears to be the best scale in assessing pain intensity after laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery with respect to patient preference rates as well as its strong correlation with other scales, particularly the NRS.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114541243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
