The science of epidemiology, which deals with the etiology, distribution and prevention of diseases seen in both individual and society, has also benefited from molecular methods, especially since the 90s. Thanks to this partnership, “Molecular Epidemiology” has emerged as a sub-branch, which applies epidemiological studies at the molecular and biochemical level. In addition to the traditional epidemiological objectives such as identifying genetic and environmental risk factors of diseases, detecting susceptible individuals, detecting infectious agents, their reservoirs and distribution, objectives such as developing molecular diagnostic methods, examining and preventing infectious diseases, and identifying possible genetic causes of chronic diseases are among the study areas of molecular epidemiology. Pulse Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE), Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) based methods, Multi-locus VNTR (Variable Number Tandem Repeat) Analysis (MLVA), Multi-locus Sequence Typing (MLST) and DNA sequencing-based techniques are frequently used in examining the etiology of infectious diseases. When investigating chronic diseases such as cancer, several biomarkers are also used. Especially in cases where traditional epidemiological approaches are not sufficient, molecular methods are often preferred and even used as the gold standard in the diagnosis and detection of some diseases.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128786821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although rapidly developed vaccines have been put into practice worldwide, some individuals objected to being vaccinated for reasons such as vaccine hesitancy or anti-vaccination. Some of the individuals in Turkey are also indecisive about vaccines and therefore do not want to be vaccinated. The purpose of this research is to develop a scale with proven validity and reliability to measure the perceptions and attitudes of individuals aged 18 and over living in Turkey towards Covid-19 vaccines. For this purpose, the covid-19 vaccine perception and attitude scale, which consists of 21 expressions and 2 sub-dimensions, was transferred to the electronic environment and applied to 291 people in Turkey between 15.09.2021 and 16.09.2021. The reliability values of both sub-dimensions of the scale used in the research were high. According to the Bartlett test performed, it is appropriate and necessary to perform factor analysis on the items in the scale, the sample size is sufficient in terms of representing the universe in the research for factor analysis of the KMO coefficient, and the high factor loads of the items in the scale show that it is important for the scale to which the items belong. As a result, it has been determined that this developed scale is a valid measurement tool to determine the covid-19 vaccine perceptions and attitudes of people aged 18 and over, according to the results of the analysis, and its reliability is also high.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132652648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted with 172 nurses who worked at a pandemic clinic of a city hospital. To collect the data; “personal information request form”, “perceptions of conscience questionnaire”, and “compassion fatigue-short scale” were employed. To analyze the data; percentage, averages, t test, one way variance and correlation analysis were used. 70.9% of the nurses were female, 79.1% of them had undergraduate degrees, 49.4% of them were married, 46.5% of them had children and 78.5% had a clear conscience during the time that they worked at pandemic clinics. The participating nurses received 65.04±10.10 in perceptions of conscience questionnaire and 72.34±22.15 in compassion fatigue-short scale. Gender and the school from which the participants graduated affected perceptions of conscience while age, the school from which the participants graduated, length of professional working, the tasks in the unit and the negative experiences affected compassion fatigue. In the study; it was identified that nurses’ perceptions of conscience were high whereas their compassion fatigue was moderate. It was found that no significant correlation was found between nurses’ nurses’ perceptions of conscience and their compassion fatigue. It may be recommended that nurses be taught coping skills against extraordinary situations like COVID-19.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121019698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kaya","doi":"10.46648/gnj.296","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.46648/gnj.296","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract In a global scale, rapid population growth and lifestyle changes increase the tendency towards packaged foods in the production and consumption sectors. However, despite many advanced techniques used in the food industry, packaged foods can increase consumers' concerns about healthy eating. On the other hand, it is reported that there is no definite evidence that the new type of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) which emerged in December 2019 in Wuhan-China, is transmitted by food, but infected people in the food chain can cause contamination. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Covid-19 Pandemic on consumers' view of unpackaged food products. 150 volunteers who shopped at various markets, bazaars and other sales stalls in Bitlis Province between November 2020 and January 2021, determined by simple random sampling, were included in the study. The questionnaires created by the researcher, were applied face to face to the participants by following the mask, social distance and cleaning rules. Statistical analysis of the data was performed with the SPSS 23 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) package program, at a 95% confidence interval, at a significance level of p<0.05. The sample size was determined by the method of reaching 5-10 times the number of question in the survey in order to carry out multivariate analysis. In conclusion; after the Covid-19 Pandemic, it was observed that the participants decreased their purchasing of the unpackaged products they bought before the pandemic (p<0.001). When the food categories are examined separately, it is seen that the consumers reduce the purchase of bagel, pastry, cruller, cup corn (d-0.769) the most and the unpackaged bread (d-0.185) the least. In addition, it was observed that the purchasing behaviors of the participants for unpackaged food products differed significantly both before the pandemic (p<0.001) and after the pandemic (p<0.001), according to their income level. This study is the only study in the literature in which this relationship is specifically examined, and it is thought that it can contribute to future studies in this sense.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128754643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Literature contains several clinical studies aiming to determine the optimum anesthetic technique for use in flap and microsurgical procedures, however there is still a lack of consensus on the ideal anesthetic technique. The present study compares experimentally the effects of inhalation and spinal anesthesia on different muscle-skin flaps during flap surgery. Methods: The study assigned 35 rats to five groups: Group 1) a control group with no ischemia induced; Group 2) undergoing an elevated transverse rectus abdominis muscle-skin flap under inhalation anesthesia; Group 3) undergoing an elevated transvers rectus abdominis muscle-skin flap under spinal anesthesia; Group 4) undergoing an elevated gluteus maximus muscle-skin flap under inhalation anesthesia; and Group 5) undergoing an elevated gluteus maximus muscle-skin flap under spinal anesthesia. After the experiment, the malondialdehyde, total antioxidant capacity and total oxidative stress values were measured. Specimens were taken for histopathological examination to assess hyalinization, inflammation, congestion, edema, hemorrhage, nuclear centralization, and fibrotic areas. Results: Inflammation, congestion and edema were significantly higher in Groups 2 and 4 than in the other groups. Conclusion: In the light of the study findings, it can be concluded that regional anesthesia is the preferable anesthetic method in flap procedures, since inhalation anesthesia has an oxidative effect on both transvers rectus abdominis and gluteus maximus muscle-flap models, while such effects are lower with spinal anesthesia.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132999932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to investigate the approaches to near death experiences in patients who returned to life after cardiac arrest. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in qualitative type. The sample consisted of 12 patients hospitalized in the cardiology intensive care clinics of a private hospital who were arrested and returned to life with successful resuscitation. Purposeful sampling method was used in sample selection. The reason for these clinics is that one of the researchers is working at this institution and has successfully resuscitated these patients and returned them to life. Data were collected between March and May 2019 by face-to-face interview method. In-depth interview; Key questions determined by literature review and expert opinion and forms containing guiding questions for each key question were used. These forms were Semi-Structured Questionnaire, Individual Information Form and Informing and Consent Form. Two academicians and one specialist physician were interviewed on the draft form based on the literature, meaning disorders and deficiencies were resolved. Interviews were held in the meeting room of the hospital. Each of the interviews lasted approximately 40-50 minutes and was terminated after the interviews were continued by both participants and researchers until there was no more information available. Interview; On the basis of confidentiality, participants were given a code (Code: K.1, E.1) and audio recording was taken. The data obtained from the interviews were transferred from the voice recorder to the computer. Coding-based content analysis was used for data analysis. In this analysis, similar data were classified under certain concepts and themes and interpreted in a comprehensible manner. Frequency and percentages of individual information were calculated and expressed. The data obtained were reported in detail and the validity of the study was ensured by direct quotations. Results: According to the findings of the study, 75% of the participants were male, the average age was 63, 50% were university graduates, as religious tendency, 41.7% Deist and 50% as religious. 75% of the respondents evaluated this as a death experience. When the answers given by the participants to the interview questions were examined in general, it was determined that there was “a feeling of relaxation and serenity”, “time passed rapidly, light emitted from a deep darkness”, “pain and pain were not felt”, and the happiness of returning to life for a second time was very valuable. In the present study we evaluate the effect of adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells on the capsular structure following breast implant surgery. Materials and Methods: Included in the study were 16 female Wistar-Albino rats, who were divided randomly into two groups. Silicone implants were placed subcutaneously in the pectoral region of the animals in the sham group, while 1 cc of approximately 40 million adipose tissue-derived stem cells were injected into the suture gap after the placement of silicone implants in the experimental group. All experimental animals were re-operated under the same conditions at postoperative week 12 and the implants were removed. All operations were performed by the same surgeon. The capsular structure that had formed around the implants was examined volumetrically and immunohistochemically. Results: Immunohistochemically, the presence of a thick fibrous capsule and prominent procollagen in the periphery was detected in the control group, while capsular staining was noted in the experimental group, wherein thin collagen fibers were organized with the appearance of loose connective tissue, while procollagen staining was lighter and scattered. A volumetric comparison revealed the mean capsule volume to be statistically significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group. Conclusion: The administration of adipose tissue-derived stem cells resulted in the development of a soft capsule and the formation of new vessels around the implant, and so is likely to have effects that may reduce the development of capsular contracture following breast silicone implant surgery.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134415850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The focus in the development of health technology has been on human-machine interactions. This has led to a number of technology-centric problems. This study focuses on the impact of these technologies on the patient-doctor relationship and human-organization in the healthcare. It’s argued that artificial intelligence in health can have significant effects on patient-doctor trust. It focuses on three main drivers of trust that is potentially supported or disrupted by the introduction of artificial intelligence or robotic systems in healthcare. First, doctors are certified and licensed to practice medicine. A license; indicates that some individuals have certain skills, knowledge, and a high level of value. Second, physicians appear to play a role as part of an active duo tasked with providing care that promotes patient value. Finally, a patient's experiences with their doctor are a positive or negative driver of trust between patient-physician understanding. When a doctor interacts with a patient, he builds social and experiential \"capital\" with him, and this understanding leads to increased trust. It’s argued that healthcare artificial intelligence systems should be considered as assistive technologies that go beyond the usual functions of medical devices. As a result, AI systems in health need to be regulated to provide relevant values. It’s suggested for patients and physicians that three high-level principles can guide this effort. Medical professionals must be licensed in healthcare AI systems; Alternative care methods should be provided until the approval and “standard of care” given by the patient or caregiver prior to its implementation and in terms of artificial intelligence is accepted. In prioritizing these functions in regulatory measures, medical community favour the appropriate societal and interpersonal deployment and implementation of such health technologies.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133614775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have very little information because studies on this subject are insufficient. This study, it is aimed to discuss unplanned and urgent admissions from the emergency department to a surgical oncology clinic in the light of current literature. PATIENTS AND METHOD Medical records of 227 consecutive patients admitted to our clinic were collected and reviewed retrospectively over electronic data system. The patients' data were analyzed according to their demographic and clinical characteristics and classified according to the pre-diagnosis, gender, reasons for hospitalization, initial treatment, clinical referral to the emergency room, and the type of treatment administered after admission. Categorical variables were evaluated with Pearson Chi-square or Fisher's exact test. For p<0.05, the results were considered statistically significant. RESULTS Mean age of the patients was approximately 60 years, and gender distribution was equal. The most common admission to the emergency department was the patient's admission (67.4%), the most common primary diagnosis was gastric cancer (31.3%), and the most common emergency pathology requiring hospitalization was ileus-subileus (50.7%). 25.5% of admissions consisted of patients who were readmitted after discharge. After hospitalization, 38.3% of the patients required a significant intervention. Most patients were admitted during working hours (85%) and on weekdays (89%). The mean Charlson comorbidity index was 6.8 for those who had major surgery and differed significantly with the probability of undergoing major surgery (p= .012). CONCLUSION Most of patients had pathology requiring intervention. These patients required palliative care. However, acceptance rates of patients for palliative care, which should be considered, necessitate revision of these services. In addition, high number of early readmissions requires us to review our criteria for post-operative care, management of complications, and discharge.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130403199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted to determine the knowledge levels of low back pain and their beliefs and attitudes towards low back pain, and to investigate the relationship between knowledge level and beliefs-attitudes of senior physiotherapy students. Materials and methods: A total of 235 students (153 females, 82 males) from Pamukkale University School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation who received training in Neurosurgery and Rehabilitation Clinical Practice were included. The knowledge levels of the students about low back pain were determined by the Low Back Pain Knowledge Questionnaire (LBPKQ). Their orientation in the treatment of low back pain was evaluated with the Physiotherapists' Attitudes and Beliefs Questionnaire about Low Back Pain (PABS-PT-TR). Results: The mean age of the students was 22.78±1.96 years. LBPKQ mean was 19.25±3.05. The mean biomedical orientation sub-dimension of the PABS-PT-TR questionnaire was 32.45±4.83 points, and mean biopsychosocial orientation sub-dimension was 23.14±4.13 points. There was no statistically significant relationship between LBPKQ and PABS-PT-TR sub-dimensions (p>0.05). Conclusion: Attitudes and behaviors of students about low back pain were mostly related to body structure and functions.
