Material and Methods: This retrospective study covers food-borne botulism cases, especially due to purslane, which were detected in 9 out of 796 people admitted to the emergency department due to food poisoning in Adıyaman between 2015-2020. The demographic characteristics of the cases, nutritional sources, and prognosis of the disease, its clinical signs and symptoms, duration of hospital stay, and treatment and death rates were analyzed. Results: A total of 9 patients from the same family (5 females and 4 males) were included in the study. The time elapsed since the onset of the disease was between 8-12 hours. The outbreaks occurred due to purslane prepared in the autumn season and consumed in the spring season. At the end of follow-up and treatment, all the patients were discharged with full recovery. Conclusion: When looking at the data of our hospital, patients were frequently diagnosed with food poisoning, but the cause was not specified. The main source of toxin seen in food poisoning in our city was due to canned purslane, which was stored in unsuitable conditions at home. Therefore, emergency physicians need to know how to diagnose and treat this rare but potentially fatal condition, as they may be the first to treat a patient with any type of botulinum intoxication.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124391076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As social media platforms are the easiest and most accessible means of accessing information on health, their use has increased significantly. YouTube, is a frequently used video source on health at the global level. We aimed to evaluate the quality of the most watched YouTube videos for COVID-19 vaccine rejection. Methods: The key terms 'COVID vaccine rejection', 'COVID vaccine side effect', 'COVID vaccine refuse' was used for the videos. The reliability of the videos was assessed using the modified DISCERN scale. The Global Quality Scale (GQS) was used to evaluate the videos in terms of vaccine information. According to the results of the scale, the videos were divided into three groups as good/excellent quality, moderate quality and poor quality. Results: The videos were 30.4% (n=21) of good/excellent quality, 34.8% (n=24) of moderate quality, and 34.8% (n=24) of poor quality. Good/excellent videos had a significantly higher median DISCERN score (p<0.01). There was no significant difference between daily median views (p=0.779), daily comments (p=0.148) and likes rates (p=0.551) according to video quality. Conclusion: E-source; Youtube contains a significant amount of data on health-related services. However, some of this information is inaccurate or of insufficient quality. Physicians should warn their patients when using digital resources, direct them to the right resources, and demonstrate the importance of digital resource evaluation.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124011384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted to determine the effect of acupressure on menopausal symptoms as an experimental randomized trial with a post-test control group. The study was carried out with 108 females who presented to a family health center for any reason between September 2019 and February 2020. Data in the study were collected using a Participant Information Form and Menopause Symptoms Rating Scale (MSRS). Women in the acupressure group were administered a total of 16 acupressure applications for 8 weeks. During the study, no intervention was applied to the women in the control group. In the study, mean MSRS scores of women in the acupressure group after the intervention were lower than the ones in the control group, which was statistically significant (p<0.05). In the study, it was found that acupressure was effective in reducing the severity of menopausal symptoms.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116281250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Material and Methods: The universe of this descriptive and cross-sectional study consists of 535 nurses working at Fırat University Hospital in Elazıg-Turkey and 495 of them were contacted. Study data were obtained using a survey form aiming to determine the sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge, and behaviors of nurses about breast cancer and early diagnosis methods. Data were examined using numbers, mean values, percentages, and the Chi-Square test. Results: The mean age of participants was 29.46±7.27 years, 88.7% were female, and 46.7% were single. Although 65.6% of nurses perform breast self-examination (BSE), only 15.9% were regularly implementing this method. The percentage of those having complete command of BSE was 52.2%, whereas the percentage of those having no knowledge was 12.3%. The ratio of having clinical breast examination (CBE) by physician was 15.4%. The ratio of having mammography was 53.6%. Advancing age, considering the knowledge on breast cancer sufficient, and following the scientific publications on breast cancer were found to have a statistically significant effect on implementation of early diagnosis methods (p<0.05). Conclusion: Since nurses are healthcare professionals, it was determined that they do not have sufficient knowledge of BSE and the percentage of implementing early diagnosis methods for breast cancer was low. Interventions should be made to support the nurses’ knowledge and behaviors related with breast cancer and early diagnosis methods with educational instruments and to determine and minimize the factors preventing the implementation of protective health behaviors.","PeriodicalId":394509,"journal":{"name":"Gevher Nesibe Journal IESDR","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114353764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
