This research used “Hotel in the Desert” written by San Mao as the theme of reading and creative thinking and discussion. The teaching time is 8 hours in four weeks, and the effectiveness of the two modes of online learning and blended learning is compared. The main difference between the experimental group and the control group is that the experimental group conducts face-to-face discussions in the classroom, while the control group discusses on the online platform. The results of the study found that both students' personal quantitative performance and teamwork performance (qualitative to quantitative results) showed that face-to-face discussions were better than online discussions; and there was a significant difference in effectiveness after independent sample T test. Therefore, this study believes that the appropriate use of E-learning in reading courses has teaching benefits but face-to-face discussion learning is still indispensable and it is of irreplaceable importance to enhance the effectiveness of teaching interaction and discussion.","PeriodicalId":389166,"journal":{"name":"2020 The 4th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127445169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To enhance the ability of practical application of knowledge, the problem-based learning approach was applied to the undergraduate course of “News Interview and Editing”, one of the general education courses, for non journalism and communication students at Chaoyang University of Technology. This research aimed to conduct an empirical analysis to examine the learning performance of problem-based learning approach employed to the course as a form of learning factory. The results shows the three great improvements are concrete content including writing form of press release, collecting data before news interview, and evaluating data before news interview. The three least improvements are abstract content including interviewing and verifying content, writing skills in writing news release, and observing interviewees’ response. It is suggested that the evaluation of competence cultivation for a problem-based learning course should pay more attention to those non-concrete dimensions to balance the students’ learning performance.","PeriodicalId":389166,"journal":{"name":"2020 The 4th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115677506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While the literature in the Philippines provides few studies that investigate the variables that drive continued use of LMS among faculty members, determining these variables is crucial as it can provide insights on how an HEI can create better policies and guidelines to encourage the utilization of faculty members. With this in mind, the study was aimed to determine the causal factors of the actual use of faculty members to a Learning Management System in one University in the Philippines. The study used an Extended Information Success Model (ISSM) derived from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and other constructs about Managerial Support. A total of fifty-six (56) faculty members answered the survey from June to July 2019 through the MS Forms Pro. Following linear regression, the study revealed that Social Influence, Information Quality, and University Management Practices were the top three (3) predictors for the actual use of an LMS. Other findings and Managerial Implications are discussed in the paper.","PeriodicalId":389166,"journal":{"name":"2020 The 4th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115137526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use the Brazil stock market and exchange rate information, and the empirical results using wavelet analysis are as follows: 1. Brazil's stock price index and exchange rate have a significant linkage relationship, whether in the short-term (1-4 years) or long-term (4-8 years) There is a significant correlation period (correlation coefficient > 0.8).In the short-term, there is frequent linkage (the island block is small), and in the long-term (4-8 years), a large red area (the island block is large) appears, indicating a significant year-long correlation.In the long-term (4-8 years) financial crisis period, the correlation has a significant impact. 2. in the short-term (1-4 years) linkage relationship: the exchange rate and the stock price index are positively correlated (the two are different in leading and lagging) and often have complete covariance. 3. in the long-term (4-8 years) linkage relationship: Except for the negative correlation of the exchange rate leading the stock market from 2002 to the end of 2003, the other sample periods are all positive correlation, and the exchange rate rises (depreciates) and the stock market rises (falls).","PeriodicalId":389166,"journal":{"name":"2020 The 4th International Conference on E-Society, E-Education and E-Technology","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130586510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
