Rao","doi":"10.1504/ijmie.2022.10050373","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1504/ijmie.2022.10050373","url":null,"abstract":"The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of Transformation Leadership (TL) on Work Performance (WP) and mediating role of teaching Faculty Engagement (FE) in Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) in India during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey method of data collection using Google forms was circulated among teaching faculty working in HEI across major cities in India. We were able to gather 568 valid responses after screening the invalid responses. The outcome of the research indicates that the structural model confirms the positive association between TL and WP. Further, the results confirmed that EE positively mediates the association between TL and WP of teaching faculty in HEI. Thus, transformational leaders in HEI develop the engagement of teaching faculty, which enhances their WP even in the virtual work environment during the COVID-19 pandemic. An agile mindset to assimilate learning into life is mandatory to be able to perform in the redesigned workplace. The pandemic is disrupting the workforce of all the generations. The present mixed-method study seeks to examine the differences in lifelong learning attribute of the prominent generations in the Indian workforce through qualitative, in-depth interviews followed by a more generalisable, quantitative survey. The qualitative interview data of the Phase 1 was analysed using text mining and topic modelling. Based on the topics identified, the quantitative data related to lifelong learning and self-efficacy was gathered in the Phase 2 from the respondents of different generations by questionnaire. The lifelong learning trait differences and drivers of self-efficacy across generational cohorts were analysed by MANOVA followed by a regression analysis. During the past decade, vocational education has undergone many fundamental changes, especially the so-called work-integrated learning and training program. The study focuses on identifying the critical success factors to overcome the program's weakness. Nominal Group Technique is applied during this investigation with the students who have completed their first year at one vocational college. Altogether five factors are identified; i.e., instructor skills, student evaluation, responsiveness to student needs, communication, and student psychology, which have to be part of improved vocational education's management. These factors are generally consistent with the previous findings as more sharing of information and collaboration among a vocational school, a private firm, and a student is needed. Interestingly, the unexpected consequence from this study is increased motivation and more positive attitude towards the study's program. Consequently, it gets imperative for the curriculum development team to deduce the perception of their prime stakeholder (students) about the structure, design and utility, etc. of their curriculum. Thus, for the study conducted at the B-school of a public sector university offering MBA programme, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used as a decision-making tool for ranking the perceived relative importance of factors involved in the curriculum development process.
