Understanding students' perceptions on factors involved in higher education curriculum development: an analytical hierarchy process approach

Curriculum in higher education should be developed with keeping students at its centre where all surrounding stakeholders play an instrumental role in its developmental process. Consequently, it gets imperative for the curriculum development team to deduce the perception of their prime stakeholder (students) about the structure, design and utility, etc. of their curriculum. Thus, for the study conducted at the B-school of a public sector university offering MBA programme, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used as a decision-making tool for ranking the perceived relative importance of factors involved in the curriculum development process. The results provide for deeper insights in apprehending the students' perception of factors crucial in developing an effective more student centred and outcome based-curriculum.
