EVs will improve the functionalities of present power system. On the other hand, unscheduled high penetration of EVs may have detrimental effects on power system performance. Reliability and stability are the most aspects of grid that face challenges when EVs used widely. As a result there is an exigent need to predict the EVs' customers in order to avoid irreparable effects, especially for the distribution network. In this paper, firstly a EVs' customer behaviour model will be discussed. Secondly, a probabilistic modelling of EVs' charging demand is introduced. This consummate model is on the two bases: technical specifications of different EV classes and historical driving data. Finally, sensitivity analysis is done in order to validate the model performance.","PeriodicalId":383315,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133307640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consecutive packet losses reduce the overall performance of a safety application which using vehicular networks as its source of awareness. Thus, determining the impact of consecutive packet losses on safety and awareness seems critical. However, speed, acceleration and the other dynamic properties of the vehicles play an important role in determining number of tolerable packet losses and safety assessment process. In this paper, we model the safety and awareness values according to consecutive packet losses using Markov chain model. Our model serves a novel and promising framework for analyzing a vehicle safety based on the current situation of the network and the vehicle dynamical properties. This model gives us the channel situation as well as the vehicle risk value. In the proposed model, the uncertainty of the driver perception about an upcoming event due to the lack of information is also taken into account. Using this model, one can investigate the impact of distance and velocity on safety efficiently.","PeriodicalId":383315,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132386967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A 3D-model is considered for only one equivalent capacitance, which resulted outputs can be extracted to the entire device, when multiplied by the number of the combs. The effects of various semiconductors as the base material are studied and the output results are compared. The ratio of the calculated differential capacitance to the value of applied force is suggested as the device sensitivity. It is resulted that Gallium Arsenide has faster response and higher resolution in an equal bias voltage range. The suggested comb-drive sensor could be used to measure the input applied force lower than 0.32 milli-Newton, with the sensitivity higher than 3.14 fF/mN. The device sensitivity can be enhanced again with increasing the number of combs.","PeriodicalId":383315,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134471975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method is applicable to the reduction of any given narrowband (NB) interference into UWB systems. This pulse shape is based on frequency up-converting of first derivative of Gaussian pulse which has an adjustable null in Power Spectral Density (PSD) depending on up-converting frequency. Both analytical and simulation results with an adaptive receiver show that an UWB system with interference from a WLAN has noticeable improved performance when using the proposed pulse in comparison with using conventional modulated Gaussian pulse.","PeriodicalId":383315,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"24 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124295255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a direct approach to motion planning based on the notion of “Learning Agents” wherein the motions of the robot at consecutive time-steps are determined by a set of condition-action rules that embody the agent. While traditional motion planning schemes rely on pre-planned optimal trajectories and/or feedback control techniques, the learning agent approach enjoys a model-free methodology that enables the robot to function in semi- or even non-observable environments. The approach presented in this paper employs the eXtended Classifier System (XCS) as its learning agent. Results from numerous simulated experiments show that the proposed approach is capable of adopting a near-optimal path towards a predefined goal point from any given position/orientation.","PeriodicalId":383315,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124346511","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Torque ripple reduction bellow the base speed of the motor is studied through adjustment of both turn-on and turnoff angles. A multiobjective optimization function is used to determine the proper turn-off angle in each operation point. Based on a proposed approach on intersecting of the consecutive phase currents, the turn-on angle is properly adjusted. The proposed method is quite easy to implement and does not need the exact parameters of the motor to run. This idea allows for bit-interleaving that makes the SRAM more reliable against the soft errors. One of the challenges of a conventional 6 transistor (6T) SRAM cell in sub-threshold region is sizing of its access transistors. Here by separating access transistors of reading and writing, we mitigate this challenge. By using a minimum-size access transistor for reading, probability of unsuccessful read reduces. To have a more successful write operation, we make one of the inverters of the cell that is fighting with the write access transistor, weaker during write operation by floating its supply voltage and ground rails. After write operation, this inverter returns back to normal mode. Simulation results in 90 nm CMOS technology show that our design satisfies 4.5-sigma criterion for reading and writing at supply voltage of 300 mV. Compared to conventional 6T SRAM cell, our design improves read-time and write-time significantly. For example at supply voltage of 500 mV, these improvements are 137 and 83 percents, respectively. Comparing power and energy consumption for single write operation of the proposed 7T SRAM cell at supply voltage of 300mV with conventional 6T SRAM cell at 800mV (i.e. minimum achievable voltage for this SRAM cell) shows improvements of 133.4X and 266.78X, respectively.","PeriodicalId":383315,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123674196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method is to map a circular sector into a rectangle, which simplifies the problem to that of finding MC for a planar patch array. This enhances the speed of calculations considerably. MC is obtained and interpreted for different radii of curvature and the spacing between two patch antennas. Also, as a more general scenario, S-parameters for an array of patches located on an elliptic cylinder is obtained using conformal mapping. The validity of conformal mapping is verified by a standard full-wave method.","PeriodicalId":383315,"journal":{"name":"2013 21st Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117148751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
