First, we examined how university students searched for information by reading purpose and found that the most common response was to use search engines for both daily and academic information search. Wiki sites had a mean of 3.51 for daily reading but a statistically significant lower mean of 3.18 for academic reading. When asked how they used Wiki sites for academic purposes, the most common reason was to understand related concepts, and the most common reason for using Wikis was because they duly organized the information they needed and were the first to appear in portal searches. However, the most common reason given for not using Wiki sites for academic purposes is that they do not trust the information on the Wiki site. When asked about their professors’ and friends’ reactions to Wiki sites, it is clear that Wiki sites are not discussed much, and even when they are, they are viewed negatively. It is necessary to provide specific usage guidelines and instruction to help college students use online information and Wiki sites appropriately for their reading purposes.","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139308596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of the discussion are as follows. First, it was confirmed that AI can be a good guide for learners in all stages of writing, and that better results can be produced through cooperative work. Second, it was confirmed that the emphasis in writing education using AI, albeit in a limited way, should be focused on developing prompt skills. Third, writing education using AI has two limitations for learners. The problem is when it is used without accurate confirmation and verification of the possibility of plagiarism and inaccurate or false information that may be mixed in the result. Therefore, it is urgent to prepare guidelines in terms of writing ethics. In addition, in terms of writing education, learners are awakened to the urgent need for verification and confirmation training.","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139308903","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we reviewed the theoretical background of lifelong writers, the ecology of written language, vernacular literacy, and teaching readers. We derived that to develop lifelong writers, learners should: (1) lower the psychological barriers to using written language, (2) make written texts authentic, and (3) have a sense of belonging and control over writing. Next, we examined how these principles (1)~(3) should be transformed and applied based on the characteristics of generative AI. The following were discussed: checking content for accuracy, credibility, and fairness in a case of hallucination; fostering basic literacy to generate questions or prompts; reflecting based on self-regulated learning and epistemology; and engaging in writing with ownership, belonging, and responsibility. This work will contribute to the refining of the educational content of the “values and attitudes” category, while achieving its purpose.","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"54 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139307257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A survey conducted on students who advanced to the finals of the 1st and 2nd Online Sookmyung Reading Debate Competition was conducted to determine the effectiveness of university liberal arts education on the Reading debate competition, the educational effectiveness of the competition, the appropriateness of the Reading discussion method, and the effectiveness of the online competition operation. It was conducted with appropriateness and effectiveness. Through this, students’ perceptions were compared and analyzed throughout the reading discussion contest held in real time online (ZOOM) and areas for improvement were sought. In order for the Reading debate competition to be conducted more effectively, discussion and writing education must be activated in university liberal arts education, connection between subject and non-curricular subjects is necessary, and there is a need to select appropriate topics and designated books to increase student participation in the Reading debate competition. It was suggested that the role and participation of the audience in online space is necessary.","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139308434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we looked at trans-media literacy and trans-media storytelling. Next, through an analysis of director Yeon Sang-ho’s ‘Train to Busan’ series, this content is based on various media and platforms, each has its own independent narrative surrounding a single world view, and each narrative contributes to the overall story, making it an educational field. It was demonstrated that domestic transmedia text examples that can be used in are sufficient. Lastly, an educational plan using transmedia storytelling (Approach: Experience and understanding of various media and platforms - Analysis: Understanding and analyzing the story - Creation: New story composition) was prepared focusing on the ‘Train to Busan’ series and applied to actual classes. As a result, the educational potential to cultivate trans-media literacy skills such as flexibility to interact across media, cultural enjoyment, analytical thinking ability to analyze and fuse complex-style texts, imagination and storytelling ability, and critical thinking ability was confirmed.","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"92 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139309063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yojo’s life in the novel contains Kierkegaard’s discussion of despair and sin. From Kierkegaard’s perspective, Yojo’s despair can be divided into despair of worldly things and despair of himself. His despair of the world stems from the fear and distrust of humanity experienced during his childhood. As a result, Yojo appears to have given up on himself by living his life, playing the buffoon in front of others. The despair towards himself means that Yojo’s despair has intensified. He attempts to recover through relationships with women who do not evoke fear in him but as all his attempts fail, his guilt and despair deepen. Yojo’s sin corresponds to the sin of despair before God. Although Yojo thinks about the existence of God and asks God questions, he fails to advance to the stage of faith where he believes in God’s forgiveness of sins. In the end, Yojo does not properly understand the meaning of Christ’s suffering and death which is the core of the Christian Gospel and cannot also believe in the infinite possiblity of the almighty God. The novel No Longer Human can be considered a work that is clearly distanced from the faith of Christianity which Kierkegaard embraces. Based on No Longer Human, it is difficult to view Dazai’s acceptance of Christianity and the Bible as a Christian evangelical understanding and remains at an ethical level based on the issue of biblical sin and punishment.","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"15 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139307013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study initially establishes that recitation and memorization have been traditional methods in foreign language education in South Korea and subsequently argues for the importance of memorization in Korean language education using literary works. Following the design of an educational program, classes were conducted from June 27th to July 25th, 2023. After completing the classes, the educational effects of using poetry recitation in Korean language education were examined among six participants who agreed to take part in the study. The educational implications of this research are as follows: Firstly, Korean language learners showed a high level of satisfaction in vocabulary, pronunciation, and intonation through the use of poetry recitation in Korean language education. Secondly, learners developed an increased interest in Korean literature and culture. Thirdly, learners experienced emotional stability and healing effects. Fourthly, learners gained confidence in learning the Korean language through this education. Lastly, participating in a ‘poetry recitation competition’ provided learners with an opportunity to showcase their abilities. This study is significant in focusing on the educational implications of poetry recitation in Korean language education using literary works. Furthermore, it differentiates itself by suggesting the potential of a new learning activity, poetry recitation, while most existing activities have been limited to imitation writing activities. Additionally, by providing real classroom examples, it offers immediate applicability in the field of Korean language education. Moreover, it extends beyond classroom education by offering opportunities for learners to apply the educational content they have learned through participation in 'poetry recitation competitions.'","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"101 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139306835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a way to do this, the method of ‘Giving a word as a gift’ and class cases were introduced. ‘Giving a word as a gift’ is an activity in which team members present words to each other. This can be said to be the process of finding one’s own color — that is to say, in addition to what I think of myself, I can think of my reflection in the eyes of others. After completing the activity up to the third stage, students will receive, as a gift, five words each. The process ends by writing an essay on the theme of “I” with the five words finally selected. This also presents an opportunity to communicate with others’ thoughts and the attachment of others. In the meantime, students have not been given enough time to seriously introspect or explore themselves. It is in the process of establish myself that I should be prioritized in the process of entering university and moving into society. In this regard, you need to know clearly what you are so that you can start with “me,” set me right, communicate with others, and communicate with the world.","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"449 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139308237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on this understanding, this study aims to explore practical and effective strategies for outlining teaching. The main errors learners make in outlining are closely related to the requirements of good writing and the core competencies of writing. Therefore, in response to the strategic importance of outlining guidance in writing education aimed at improving learners' writing ability, I proposed a method to strengthen outlining and confirmed its effectiveness. The strategy to strengthen outlining ability was designed according to two principles: creating and revising an outline through a multi-step process and providing differentiated feedback for each step. This strategy is effective in helping beginners in writing not only internalize the intertextual nature of the writing process and learn the dynamics of thought composition but also experience developmental changes through the process.","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139308816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For foreign students majoring in Korean, the language serves a dual purpose as a tool for academic activities and an academic goal in itself, which distinguishes them from other learners with different academic objectives. Therefore, it is crucial to tailor Korean writing instruction to meet the specific needs of this student population. Therefore, the goal is to design writing classes for foreign undergraduate students majoring in Korean, considering both genre and content knowledge. After conducting a class using Dictogloss, it was confirmed that there was a positive impact and performance in practical, definitional, and practical aspects on listening and reconstruction skills, which are the basis of Korean interpretation/ translation and Korean writing.","PeriodicalId":372781,"journal":{"name":"Korean Association for Literacy","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139308457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
