During the last years there were presented the most beautiful places in Romania (2014), the most valuable Romanians in science and culture (2015), the most famous athletes or sports teams from Romania (2016) and the most beautiful Romanian songs performed by great national artists (2017). The radio-documentary series were broadcast on-air an all the regional radio network stations and also posted online on the project's website, YouTube channel and Facebook page. In 2018, when 100 years from the Great Union are celebrated, the campaign will present 100 defining events in history that made the nowadays Romania possible. To celebrate this, the organizers intend to create 12 memorial parks in important Romanian cities. They will enclose \"Union Forum\" places, guarded by 20 symbols, 10 on each side of the alley or placed on the circumference for the round forums. For a multitude of reasons, including the appeal to a younger audience, there will be set a Virtual Reality (VR) commemoration themed park, where to present all these fascinating stories. All the moments will be accessible as interactive multimedia items/symbols in the digital realm, extending the existence of the physical ones. In this paper we debate the importance of adapting information exposition, specifically the one regarding the culture, to the new digital environments available today. There are fears that globalization and new media will wear down the national culture and cultural heritage. We will analyze these aspects and we will show that Internet and VR can be not just spaces of social manifestation, but also of cultural presence, adding new dimensions to the Romanian cultural landscape. A better integration within the national identity improves the sense of well-being and the quality of existence for the Romanian citizens. The information gathered will serve to better understand how the facts are best perceived and learned by users in the virtual environments and how to improve this technology-enhanced learning technique.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114524516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As teaches, our role is not only to provide our students with knowledge but also to equip them with techniques to be used all along their working life. Information and communications technology - or technologies (ICT) involving computers, digital television, cell phones and other technological tools that are in a rapid development, transformation and updating does not have a largely accepted definition as ICT is evolving dramatically being difficult to keep up with it. Nowadays, ICT is a valuable asset for education both for students and teachers. It brings novelty, involvement, interaction and interest into class. It eases both learning and teaching if used in an appropriate way. We have been talking of a knowledge based organizations for some years now. It is time to adapt the way we teach and learn, due to the extensive use of technology and the rapid changes that take place around us, in the academic field as well. By this study we wanted to find out information about the attitude of both students and teachers towards the use of ICT tools in the teaching-learning process, their awareness regarding the benefits in the students' improvement of the linguistic skills as well as depicting possible causes of a non-exposure to information and communications technologies in class. The Internet is a tool which offers unprecedented possibilities in the field of English Language Teaching. But this information should be checked and used wisely.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121494494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most used actually technique for evaluation the risk for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) rupture is the maximum diameter (Dmax) of the aorta, but also other dimensions are used for assessment of risk for cerebral aneurysm. In most of the cases, the aneurysm geometry is measured manually using computed tomography (CT) or three-dimensional (3D) angiography. By this method, the accuracy and reproducibility can vary substantially from user to user and even in the case of the same user, during the repeatedly measurements. We propose software based on GUI for automatic and semi-automatic usage for processing of 2D images, containing aneurysm, useful in virtual education or e-learning process. The image is first segmented, and the user can select points to perform automatically extract of geometrical parameters using algorithms from computational geometry. The various parameters that describe the shape of reproducibility are statistically analyzed if the user selects this option. The software for intracranial aneurysm geometry quantification has a separate module used for prediction the risk of rupture. A specialized module is used for work with original image; the operations in this case are based on interactive selections made by user: points and polygons with option to extract different shape descriptor for feature selection. The prediction in this stage can be manually selected from two options related to a set of data: a liner one and a nonlinear one based of simple regressive nonlinear model. The results are very encouraging and the future developments are taken into account.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121524913","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These difficulties have their primary origin in the intellectual disability that is manifested to a greater or lesser extent in people with DS (PDS) due to a genetic alteration characterized by an additional copy of chromosome 21. This genetic imbalance causes a decrease in the number of neurons and synaptic connections which in turn makes mental and motor processes slower for them than for other people. Notwithstanding the preceding, the population retains its capacity for learning and improvement, even there is no limit to the development of their skill is as long as they provide the right incentives. On the other hand, ICTs have proven to be an inclusive tool with the population in cognitive impairment such as DS. Experts affirm that these people do have interest and can make use of technologies, which constitute a valuable instrument to increase the probability of becoming more independent and active in the community. In this sense, actions have been undertaken to promote the social inclusion of this population by promoting access to ICT, respecting their right to access information and communication. In this way, the digital divide is reduced, and educational, labor and social inclusion are favored. According to the above, the design of a prototype of an educational video game in mathematics that is inclusive with PDS was proposed. This game is based on three own activities of daily living of people who require basic knowledge in mathematics. Each of the activities starts at a basic level of difficulty, and to the extent that the user manages to perform each of them adequately, the difficulty of them will increase. The objective of the first activity of the game is to identify shapes and colors correctly, the other is to count, and the last is to organize elements according to form. Since some users with or without DS can have limitations in language development, the game was designed so that from the same user interaction with the application could be obtained data showing some aspects of the teaching-learning process and familiarization and use of the proposed tool. These analytical data extracted directly from the interaction with the game facilitates the evaluation of it, especially in populations where language is not fully developed and thus have limitations in intelligibility and speech.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126572478","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper the authors analyze the current state of the e-learning platforms implemented at the Romanian higher education level. The analysis starts from the Report on the National Academic Metaranking Exercise, a ranking achieved in 2016 by the Ministry of National Education to identify the level of visibility of Romanian universities in the relevant international rankings. This paper takes into account the extent to which the best-rated Romanian universities have implemented e-learning platforms as support in the development of the educational process. There are presented some aspects of the used e-learning platforms and their vulnerabilities to cyber-attacks based on the statistics provided by CVE Details, a database with information retrieved from NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology). Using updated software versions of e-learning platforms, HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) protocol for encrypted information transfer and securely storage of sensitive information (usernames, passwords, or other personal data of users) are benchmarks which will be comparatively analyzed. The paper also contains an estimate of the extent to which the main actors involved in education (both the professors and the personnel at the level of university management or government) are open to the introduction of electronic technologies as methods for disseminating information. A questionnaire on e-learning issues was designed and its results are analyzed to identify opportunities for improving and developing education and research in Romanian academic field.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115776349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the concept of emotional intelligence redefines the image about man and about the world. At organizational level, performance achievement depends both on the manager’s or team success, and on the success of every individual employee, such success being influenced by how the members relate and interact with each other. Furthermore, an important role is played by the team vision on performance and on achieving it, this being based on psychological and social factors making their reaching their goals easier or harder, since such factors are related to the emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence cannot be, by itself, a predictor of career success, satisfactory career or effective leadership. It is only one of several important components. It increases the chances of success, however it does not guarantee success in the absence or required knowledge. Some studies describe the role emotional intelligence plays in career planning, and even analyse the levels of emotional intelligence required for every single stage in someone’s career. In time, within organizations, a new type of management has slowly, but surely, outlined itself, namely, the emotional intelligence management. This paper aims at approaching this topic both theoretically, and practically, through applications. The micro-research was performed in a Romanian private company, the subjects interviewed in parallel being both Department Managers (the tool being the EQ test), and their subordinates (the tool being the questionnaire), and it aims at identifying a correlation between the Manager’s EQ level and the organizational climate of the subordinated team.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115803444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Historically, NATO education has been focused on ensuring that military forces from member countries can work together effectively in operations and humanitarian assistance missions, construction and post-conflict reconstruction missions. Today, NATO education functions have expanded significantly. NATO has a network of schools and institutions, conducts regular exercises and runs training missions as far away as Afghanistan. The main purpose is to enhance the interoperability and effectiveness of NATO-led multinational forces. Military experts have repeatedly stressed the absolute importance of education and training considering interoperability as a mind-set that needs to be acquired as soon as possible in an educational training programme for military personnel or in the guide of their military career development. Interoperability remains a challenge for NATO due to the complex involvement of its 28 member nations having diverging political and economic interests. Nations try to support some of the ideas developed by the Alliance on the increase in \"connectivity\" but it seems that not all of them will have the same promising support. To be achieved, interoperability needs time to mature and it should be executed bottom-up and top-down, namely by national governments and NATO command structures. That the main reason why the educational system must be in line with all these changes and to be designed taking in account the new geopolitical trends. The continuous transformation is the constant of our times, we have to create agile systems and resilient to respond to the newest needs of education.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134231874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following these institutions on social media, allow any user to discover interesting content almost every single day. More, experts and educators are sometimes online to answer questions, test knowledge in pop quizzes, and stream behind the scenes with live video. A special point is that of showing that the First World War marked a turning point with the appearance of news and artwork intended to capture the moment in a realistic way, by first-hand participants. Before World War I, war news and art largely depicted heroic military leaders and romanticized battles, done long after the fact, far from the battlefield. This study try to encompass all the forms in which social media contribute to the creation of public knowledge, underlining that, the number of object records created or the number of records made available to the public online, gives us vital information and a strong sense of what in military history is known and where improvement is needed. This article examines how practitioners can make informed choices about curriculum design and pedagogical approaches in their settings, based on historical theories and principles. The approaches advocated here respect some of the tenets of the ideological tradition, but at the same time provide a secure justification for play that inform by evidence from research and curriculum models from different countries. In the context of fast-paced implementation of smart mobile terminals, new cyber security solutions, tools and mechanisms must be created in order to protect personal and organizations information assets. Trend analysis points out toward an increase in number and complexity of malware attacks launched against the expanding mobile communication networks and terminals. Mobile devices are vulnerable to cyber-attacks, mostly in relation with their insecure access to different digital resources, and consequently taxonomies for cyber attacks would improve the analysis and assessment of malware impact over the functionality of mobile terminals and networks. Malevolent actors can disseminate mobile malware through various techniques and subsequently the infected devices can be used as a launch pad for further cyber attacks. Since the smart mobile terminal store a great amount of private data the malware attacks against this type of device are inherently complex. In order to distinguish between the behaviour of legitimate and malevolent, there are sustained efforts within the cyber security community to analyse the modus-operandi of relevant malware. In this general operational context, the “Integrated Software Platform for Malware Analysis on Mobile Terminals” project, funded by UEFISCDI / Romanian Ministry of National Education, provides an innovative solution for an emergent cyber threat vector. Class-center.com declared that \"more than 700 universities around the world have launched free online courses and that by the end of 2016, around 58 million students had signed up for at least one MOOC\". Moreover, Coursera, the most famous MOOC provider launched specialization tracks that allow subscribers to earn ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) to prestigious universities. As a consequence, the author tried to analyze students perception towards MOOC phenomenon. The students that participated into the demarche were both Romanian and Erasmus students attending classes to University \"Politehnica\" of Bucharest, the largest technical university in Romania. Only the students of the 4th year have been considered eligible to take part in the survey, as they are targeted as MOOCs potential students - \"89% of Coursera learners are over the age of 22”, as stated Coursera CEO. The main objective of the present paper consists in identifying the benefits of using MOOCs and also the challenges students have to face when accessing them. Moreover, the research identifies the limitations of MOOCs towards students perception and proposes several \"possible futures\" for educational platforms. The tool used within the research was the questionnaire that lead to conclusions related to the perceptive boundaries of MOOC within the respondents. The results complete the state of knowledge of the Romanian higher education system and also could complement the methods of improving the quality of higher education services by including the suggestions received from the beneficiaries of educational services - the students.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130845933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
