Many entities use data provided by each country’s National Weather Service in order to combat any negative impact the conditions may have on their daily activities. Unfortunately, the service does not provide a very accurate set of parameters, instead it gives an average forecast for a given area of interest. Here is where personal weather stations come to the rescue. Not only they are cheap and easy to set up, but they also provide the user with the exact data he wants. Depending on each individual’s needs, the weather station can be adjusted and equipped with a wide range of sensors, ranging from wind speed and UV radiation to air quality sensor. Using an Arduino development board (or equivalent) that is available on a large scale, the integration of the sensors can be done without many challenges and, if the user does want to implement this feature, the acquired data can be uploaded and used on the internet. Being supported by a very large community, Arduino boards can implement these features without implying a big money or time penalty. One of the most important aspects a weather station brings, apart from the possibility to build it at a very low price, is that the user can have access to any weather data that defines his area of interest, thus increasing the accuracy and the resolution of the forecast and allows early warning in case of extreme weather phenomena.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114977245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, the organizational implementation of an Environmental management system represents an important “strategic move” which can bring many benefits and could become that “advantage lever” in front of competitors. Therefore the Environmental management system (EMS) implementation and its real integration at the organizational general management level bring along the “routinization” (application in day-to-day organizational activities) of certain environmental practices, which will be the main topic of this work. Having in view the idea mentioned above, the literature presents the fact that organisations mainly adopt two types of attitudes towards the environmental issues (“marginal attitudes types”), as follows: (a) a reactive attitude towards the environment as an effect of the necessity to comply with it, and (b) a proactive attitude towards the environment that can be characterised as a volunteer action of the organisations that wish to reduce the negative impact upon the environmental factors. Consequently scholars approach the organisations orientation dynamics between these two marginal attitudes types towards the environmental protection issues; they presents the diversity of environmental practices implemented having in view the environmental strategies elaborated and integrated at the organisations’ level. Concluding, this paper develops an e-learning training program framework associated to the current organizational environmental practices ([1] environmental planning and organisation, [2] environmental operational practices, [3] communicational practices specific to environmental management) because e-Learning is the most efficient and effective method to institutionalize/ integrate inside organizations different training programs.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115666689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These trends are expressed by different combinations of materials, colours, lines, styles, and finally, all of these lead to new models of garments. Designers must understand and transpose all this information into useful, unique and desirable models of clothes for all consumers. They must also have a good intuition and perception of the lines and shadows (2D/3D geometry for fashion), as well as skills and competencies in patterning and knowledge in technology. By understanding and processing all the data, the designers have to elaborate the proper solution for sizing and shaping the new patterns, by taking into consideration the shape of the human body and the properties of the materials from the structure of the garment. Nowadays, they often have to use advanced construction techniques in developing ready-to-wear products by using tools and functions from two CAD systems. The virtual environments allow the user to define a garment surface in relation with the 3D body model and to verify the dimensional correspondence and balance of the product on the human body. The designer also checks if the virtual prototype looks the same as its picture representation and if there is something to be changed. This paper presents comparative e- demonstrations of how to select and use functions and tools from two CAD systems in order to design a specific model of a garment, in a proper and logical sequence of steps, with a good quality level from the designing stage.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":" 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120833221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Internet access needs credentials, and frequently credentials are linked to personal data that nowadays can be considered priceless. That is why the protection of personal data must be a priority for the universities. Why new data protection regulation? Why students and employee data are so important? Why and how to protect all these big amounts of data? How to implement new data protection regulations in universities? From all these questions, we start to analyze the actual and future legal environment regarding data protection in order to identify the best practical cyber security solutions. The analysis will start from the replacement of Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC and national regulation with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Intention is to identify the way universities will approach data privacy in order to collect, store and transmit data on students or teachers and in what measure the selected approach will affect educational and research processes. Role of human factor have also been considering in the framework of new regulations, with the focus on necessary relations grid around Data Protection Officer. The analysis will go further with the considerations regarding the place of cyber insurance process in the institutional grid, which is involved in the data protection process, on the one hand, and the necessary resources for implementing the new regulations.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121111176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This project aims to incorporate peer review practices (peer to peer) to promote the development of the cross-curricular competence learning to learn. The innovation consists precisely in students assessing the work of their classmates through Moodle's 'Workshop'. It is evaluated the increase of the competence learning to learn these practices generate through an adaptation of the instrument proposed by Munoz et al. (2016), which is administered at the beginning and at the end of the innovation experience to determine if this practice has had a positive impact on students' learning to learn competence. Peer review is a reciprocal process whereby students produce feedback reviews on the work of peers and receive feedback reviews from peers on their own work (Nicol, Thomson and Breslin, 2014). An important process within this is shared assessment, which refers to student involvement in the assessment and learning practice, a process of dialogue and collaboration between teacher and students aimed at improving the learning process, both individually and collectively. In addition, at the end, the impact of the innovative experience on the perception of student learning is assessed through an adaptation of the questionnaire of Gallego et al. (2013). The results presented here seem to indicate that the Moodle's 'Workshop' has advantages, it makes it possible to obtain information about the activity of the students, which allows the teacher to influence more in their learning","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127211321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After the recognition of the benefits of presenting the information in 3D environment, a web tool using 3D models has been created for the students to use. A step by step methodology for education in web has been created, which in turn led to the use of a wide variety of intertwined methods to present the information to the students, such as video, picture gallery, 3D image virtual laboratory exercise, and text. In order to be able to go through an experience closer to the real-life experiment and exercise, the students need to interact with all kinds of tools that they can come across while taking the course in \"Cutting tools\". The learning tool features the following steps, based on the methodology for education in the web: Step 1: Theoretical lecture notes, introduction in what will be measured and how; Step 2: Learning through multimedia - photo gallery and video gallery; Step 3: 3D object gallery, containing the tools which will be used; Step 4: Theoretical test, to check on the basic knowledge gained so far; Step 5: Assessment of the test results, if the threshold of correct answers is passed, they are allowed to continue to the actual practical exercise, if not - they go back to Step 1; Step 6: Using the virtual cutting tools according to predefined methodology for virtual measuring in a virtual laboratory environment; Step 7: Generating a report, which contains the results of the measurement. The proposed highly interactive tool for self-learning in measuring the constructive and geometrical parameters of the cutting knives increases the level of understanding students gain. The interactive 3D virtual models enable students to have free and safe experience very close to the practical one at any time and from any location. The 3D objects can be ‘handled’ in much the same way their real counterpart can. This leads to the brain of the student recognizing the object as such – a real object, that can be manipulated not only a photo or a schematic in a book. This in turn helps the brain recognize the three dimensional existence and memorize it better. Each step of the methodology builds up and enhances the assimilation of the information by the young people. Guiding students with such a tool helps bridge the gap between knowledge and practical experience. Combination of methods and hybrid approach to finding solution of similar problems may very well be the future of educating the digital generation.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125374320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper gives an overview about learning analytics and educational data mining and also explains the way they are used in order to improve the support for educators and learners in their strive to achieve high quality learning outcomes (or results) and the way they improve decision making process in academic environment to maximize strategic outcomes. The amount of data being digitally collected and stored is vast and heterogeneous. As a result, the science of data management and analysis is also advancing to enable educational field to convert this vast resource into information and knowledge that helps teachers and educational organizations to achieve their objectives. Computer scientists have invented the term big data to describe this evolving technology. Big data has been successfully used in the many areas of activity, and the e-learning in particular. New educational technologies have allowed students, educators and managers to generate tremendous data via mobile devices, learning management systems, social networks, cognitive biometrics technologies and so on, resulting in what has been called as big data. Learning analytics and educational data mining techniques allow big data to be analysed from different perspectives, including monitoring students' activities, designing pedagogical interventions to support students, prediction of the learning success, failure, and potential dropouts, adaptation/personalization of learning content and learning tasks. Sometimes, in order to apply automated methods to analyse an educational context, it is required the use some type of personal data that should help university to build detailed student profile, and achieve competitive advantage. However, learning analytics and data mining do pose a threat to some important ethical values like privacy and individuality.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126954555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, software engineers have to overcome many difficulties in order to perform well at their interviews and obtain their dream job. Having a great CV and knowledge is not enough, as both hard and soft skills must be proven at the interview. In order to achieve good interview performance, training becomes essential, especially for people who show signs of insecurity, introversion or lack of social contact. Job interview training should always be based on practice, not on theory, but even in this case, the existing methods of simulating an interview can have their drawbacks. Our paper proposes an innovative training system based on virtual reality (VR), meant to improve the interview performance of software engineers. By combining two emerging technologies, chatterbots and virtual reality, our system can reproduce in a precise manner the situation of an actual interview. Based on their chosen enterprise, the users will find themselves in different interview rooms (simulated through 3D environments) and will have to interact with different avatars, representing the interviewers. Both technical competencies and soft skills can be practiced in the system, as the chatterbot is trained to give relevant questions and to react accordingly to the user’s answers. Besides the real-time feedback, an evaluation module is also present in order to help the user assess the results of their performance. The system has a high degree of modularisation, thus easily allowing the integration of a text-to-speech module for visually impaired people.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116403605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The latter should come in support of students and represent both an efficient alternative for the individual study and resources for team-work. The purpose of the present paper is to highlight the importance of using an e-Learning resource implemented by Politehnica University Timisoara through which students can load the results of their projects and work. The topicality is given by the novelty of the 3D models realized by students, both individually and by teamwork, for a touristic promotion of Timisoara municipality in the context of competing and winning the title for “European capital of culture” initiative. Moreover, the authors propose implementing a spatial data geoportal at Local Administration level using EU non‐refundable funds that could be a smart solution for managing secure and valuable property based on Internet of Things meant to reinforce Europe's cultural diversity by making our heritage and our cultural creations available to a wider number of citizens. One of the strategies developed by the European Commission refers to Digital Single Market and includes tasks such as investing on network and technologies by funding research that enables new technologies like 5G and IoT. The aim is to benefit European citizens with fast and accessible Internet for the future and make cities more sustainable in view of Europe's 2020 targets. Romania, as a member state, has aligned its priorities to the EU and is constantly trying to develop smart solutions in the interest areas that also permit funds attracting. They are the main cause of heat generation in the whole shaft-bearing assemble, but they also bring a major contribution to the radial force of thermal preload, deformations of the shaft or vibrations. Optimization of rotating shafts often gives possibility to adjust the performance but also to increase the service life of the milling tool, as a function of preloading of bearing, which is particularly important in orthopedics due to the overloading of assembly during the surgical act. The forces acting on the bearing, whether of mechanical origin (the force of strain) is due to the thermal effect generated by the friction of the balls on the inner / outer ring and the lubricant used, result in a change in the ball bearing contact angle effect in the overall system analysis. Moreover, dynamically, this angle also changes as a result of external negligible effects that can be considered for a more accurate or neglected model in the case of an approximate model (e.g. centrifugal force, moments, effect gyroscopic, etc.). Advanced graphical interface, calculates the value of the angle on the outer and inner ring, based on the revolution of the axis. The model can be simplified or complicated by giving the user the possibility to include factors that raise the accuracy. This allows you to define the geometric dimensions of the bearing, material constants, the revolution values for which a dynamic analysis is being performed, and graphic display selection of angles as well as export values in tabbed format to be used in other industry-specific applications.","PeriodicalId":371908,"journal":{"name":"14th International Conference eLearning and Software for Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122307577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
